Ahhh I was listening to the dialogue and as soon as I come back to the page, I'm in tears! Every time I see this or Edward Scissorhands, I see why I fell in love with Johnny Depp!
That doesnt sound like a very good solution. Imagining shes still alive, don't get me wrong i think about dead reletives and occasionaly i will dream about them.
But saying to a child whos mother has died, "oh, just think about her alot and it won't seem like shes gone"...
Still allround a very good film, and honestly given my opinion on the ending i don't believe let the film down.
PS and its not that i don't have an imagination, its just that its a overly sentimental ending to a good film.
It is'nt a final solution, but a way for them to embrace the warmth and old feeling of the boy's dead mother. Yes it is sentimental, but overly sentimental? To draw a parallel, it is as if you are complaining that something is "too good". In my opinion it was a perfect ending. I dont know about you, but it reached out to me, especially because it is very sentimental.
I would say this final scene is only slightly less sentimental than the ending of "Armageddon" with the "Will i won't i go in the space ship, 'go on, your marrying my daughter'" scene.
And i suppose in the end, it is only my opinion vs yours, but i just find it unfitting within the story.
This scene kills me. I have my own son and twins on the way and I know that I would never ever want to leave them. This movie is absolutely breath taking. Bravo Johnny and Kate.
I remember seeing this when I was young. I cried so hard and the scene was imprinted in my mind. After many years I started to think about the best crying scene that I've ever seen on film this came in to my mind. Still doesn't fail to make a lump in my throat.
Every time I watch this particular scene, I simply cry a lot. And I've watched it more than a hundred times !!! This is the most beautiful and touching scene of all time. It takes me to neverland. Thank you 4 posting this one.
Freddie Highmore's finest performance (alongside August Rush). As Peter, he could make me kinda annoyed for those 'grumbling' scenes (destroying playhouse, critiquing James); crying in view scenes like this one. But beyond it all, I fell in deep admiration of his talent and humbleness as a marvelous celebrity. No wonder Johnny Depp likes this boy, they build such intense partnership. What a great combo they are :D
The little boy is awesome! He smashes Johnny Depp formally against the wall. That's what we are saying in Germany when we think that someone is stealing the show of the other actor! And this boy did it! And that to Johnny Depp, I think that's really an achievement!
I cryed crocadile(pun intended) tears during this.. The whole Peter Pan idea, "never grow up", and the "she went to neverland" concepts are difficult to completely grasp. It's so beautiful.. My wish is that the whole world could see like this author.
Two of the best actors ever. This scene is one of my favourite scenes from ANY movie. Gosh, freaking awesome. How does someone thumbs down this? So amazing.
Unarguably... Depp's finest work. An underated masterpiece. Million Dollar Baby won Best Picture for 2004 but it shouldn't have compared to Finding Neverland with Depp.
this movie includes so many prescious truths for me. It is one of my favourite movies. for me it is always like a trip inside myself to see this movie. to remember the most important things like starting to pay again, to soar on the wings of your imagination, like a child, believing that magic truly exists and also, that we are always connected and love no matter what. I agree that this movie didnt get the right attention.
Johnny Depp is probably one of THE best actors of this decade. He is so moving and versatile and funny and he just has so, so much range. He is probably an AMAZING father to his two children and and a great husband to his wife. Im really proud of him and I will always be a fan of his. Rock on Johnny Rock on :)
It's a beautiful ending which it always bring tears to my eyes. This movie shows there's another amazing story behind the masterpiece Peter Pan. Johnny Deepp and Kate Winslet is really awesome. But I'm very well interested with Freddie Highmore's performance especially in this scene. He might be the best actor in youth generation and would be like Depp someday : a wonderful actor :D
Kate Winslet is like my all time favorite actress ever since I was 8 and saw her in titanic. We watched this in my english class my senior year, and I had never cried at school, but it hits close to home because I have a brother who was killed when he was just 19, I like to think he's in neverland and when I go, we can play together all the time, and for now even if Im 21 he's my imaginary friend but people don't think Im crazy because I have a learning disability (please don't call me retarded)
I know exactly what you mean. I have a cousin who's 6 and he has seisures. When I see him I try to make as happy as possible, we once discovered a magic room in the upstairs part of my aunt's house, a dragon under the staircase, and had a greek battle in the front yard. The happiness was just priceless. Love doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about my family. And I have a learning disability too. =)
I lost my twin sister over 6 years ago and this scene always makes me cry. I too like to believe that she's in Neverland. So it's ok. You aren't crazy. *hugs*
@VictoriaWinters1991 aww i am so sorry i always cry at this scene too because i lost my older brother i couldn't stop crying for weeks. i know how it feels but i love this movie. do you too?
@daretodream1988 Anyone who calls you retarded, is one themselves. You are special, and you are your own person. It breaks my heart that people could do such things. You keep going back to Neverland, it is after all an awesome place ;)
(They gently fade away - on their own brief trip to Neverland.)
One of the most touching movies I have ever seen. Difficult for me to watch (having lost people who were very important to me), but I appreciate the reminder that all I've got to do is close my eyes and I can see them again.
Superb acting by two talented performers. VERY well done. This film didn't get the attention it deserved...
Every time I see this movie I cry, and I don't know why, it's something that you cannot see, cannot say, cannot hear, but it's there....Wonderful Movie...She found Neverland.
This is really such a moving scene. Good ending, it made me want to cry b/c it made me think of my friend who died just last year. Great performances by Johnny Depp and Freddie Highmore.
This scene alone with its simbolism describes in its simplicity true acting from 2 gifted actors. NO fancy sets, costumes or special effects. ABSOLUTLY WONDERFUL!
this is Neverland..... I love this movie...so beautiful, so touching...not the best movie ever, not the best acting ever for Johnny, but still somehow its so close to my hearth, its so very much about me...I could list here every single word what describes beauty. But i wont. so imagine them please!
Great acting, i love this film. I always cry, it reminds me of my mum who died 2 years ago. I wish i cud liv as a child with my mum and the rest of my family in Neverland and never have to grow up.
I agree. I am sorry for your loses. My aunt died recently. Lovely lady, so beautiful in every way. My uncle died a month before she did, I believe that he came back to take her with him. To be happy, together. Look at me I am crying right now, :'(
this movie is so beuatiful, it makes me cry EVERY time! johnny, freddie, and kate did such amazing acting in this movie (along with the rest of the cast). anyone who hasn't seen this movie should race to go get a copy of it
I love this slip so much. It makes me cry every time I see it and it reminds me of losing my mum 7 years ago and how I felt then. Johnny Depp and the little boy do some of the most superb acting I have ever seen in this scene. Love it totally
I can watch this ending 3 times in a row and I cry all the times because is scene is perfect. Eu assisto a este final 3 vezes seguidas (já fiz a experiência) e choro todas as vezes porque esta cena é simplesmente perfeita. Os atores estão excelentes e ambos mereciam ganhar Oscar só por esta cena (além de todas as outras do filme).
I watch this video over and over and over again and each time I do, I cry. My favorite part is when he says "By Believing, Peter. Just Believe" Johnny and Freddie are just the perfect two people for this scene. Gotta love um'. :)
"She went to Neverland." My fave. line in the movie besides, "Just believe." Really touching movie, great for anyone. But really, I'm crying! It's so sad, but Peter's mother went to Neverland, and she's happy.
this movie is awsome.. I've just finished to watch it for the first time and I can't help myself.. I can't stop crying!! This scene is fabulous...really touching!!
Looks like a great movie :) But maybe you should make a note that this scene is a spoiler; I wish I didn't know the ending before I watched the rest of the movie :(
I like how J.M. just grabs him, and softly rocks him. One of the most emotionally happy yet sad scenes in this movie. It's really a great movie. Both, very talented actors.
omg i burst into tears.... it makes us think of how we must live our lives to the fullest extent, so that it would be a life well lived, like hers. It is very optimistic, the best way to explain death to children, is to tell them to believe someone is there.
me and my cousin always used to cry when we watched this. My cousin recently passed away from breast cancer so this always reminds me of when her. *sniffle* I miss her, but this is really such a great movie. It brings back some pretty good memories. I love it so much. Thanks for posting.
i like the part where they're doing the play and they get to neverland and she walks up into it. i thought that was a beautiful way to portray her death. that's the scene that gets me the most!
This movie was SO awesome i laughed throughout the entire movie and almost cried when johnny had the "neverland" play at the house...but this scene...my eyes were slowly watering up just like Freds and when johnny said "she went to neverland" and the boy looked off and said "i can see her!"...AHH I COULDN"T STOP CRYING!!! Johnny even looked like he was crying at 1:52! and the music...OH! i <3 this movie with all my heart along with POTC and sweeney Todd
I need to cry tears of both sorrow & happiness now. Bye.

Looks like a great movie :) But maybe you should make a note that this scene is a spoiler; I wish I didn't know the ending before I watched the rest of the movie :(
Just a suggestion.

"Why did she have to die?"
That line made me suddenly burst into tears! I think that's one of the saddest things I've ever heard.
