No offense man but thing about contests...and really anything competitive is that there have to be rules, and constraints. You can't compete without the them. The starting and ending date ensure everyone starts and ends around the same time, which gives everyone an equal opportunity. The categories all have rules that are well made and fit the bill. I just don't see how anything is "too narrow." Seems pretty broad to me tbh. Just my 2 cents, and good luck ;)
I totally hear ya on that "building on my own terms" thing... I tend to really hate contests that require you to not have started the model by a certain date, etc... I stink at deadlines and I find that this sort of contest tends to lead me to start something new, maybe not finish it, and then be unable to use that project for the next contest that comes along... But this time around I decided to go for it anyway.
Hmmm. Not going to give it away for those who haven't caught it yet, but if what I think you are doing is what you are going to do... it's certainly a interesting idea
@jabman025 You don't have to say it outright, but are you going to do what i think you are doing? I have to say... The OYW Gundam was a surprising choice for that sort of theme...
Good luck with the entry, the RX 78 OYW is a great kit to use for the competition, not only is it a really fun kit to build (even those legs!) but I personally think its the best looking RX at that scale.
I've been struggling to pick the right kit for the competition, I initially picked a Kotobukiya Zoid model but the painting just isn't working and I need to go back to the drawing board, good job there's still over five months to work on the entry!!
