  • those fillets look like they tasted fantastic!

  • you sound like your about to pass out

  • When you go around the fish you butcher the meat and going with the scales means you loose the belly meat, I dont know why anyone would want to clean fish of that size in their kitchen or at all, a mess is sure to be made if you have more than one fish wich you should if you kept any at all besides it being 7 pounds, if you caught that one i imagine you caught smaller ones that could have stood in place of it.

  • u 4got the cheeks

  • Man what an idiot! CATCH AND RELEASE! WTF are you doing eating anything over 20''

  • @MPatrickJr Says a man who has obviously never had to worry about where his next meal was coming from. Besides, he addressed your concern already. Learn to read, rich kid.

  • what a waste. there was plenty of flesh left on the skin. do you think fish come from vending machines under the water?

  • What a shame to keep that fish. And an even bigger shame on how it was butchered up! Why not cut the throat and cheeks out!?!?!?!

  • @scottie56005 You're right, he butchered the walleye. A lot of meat was wasted- what a crummy job on a fish that should have been thrown back.

  • Beautiful fish and thanks for posting.

  • cut out the cheeks thier pretty tasty

  • you folks who say "he missed too much meat" how much more do you want? this job looked fine to me.. perhaps if you posted some of YOUR instructional videos i could get a better idea on how to do it right..

  • @gewglesux I did as you suggested. I also included an optional deboning step for taking the row of bones out that is left in the meat from filleting. You'll notice in my video there is no large chunk of belly left on my fish. See the video "How to Fillet a Walleye and Debone a Fillet" on my channel if you're interested.

  • @FishTemagami

Hey there... I'm going to go have a look.. thanks for posting..

  • @FishTemagami

welldone man!! folks go check out the other video.. very detailed... thanks for posting!

  • DUDE,,,, your technique misses too much meat,, there is a much better way to filet a walleye.

  • Anyone else start to get hungry at 2:10?

  • Flexible knife is not critical, just watch the Japanese do it with a 1 lb knife. Scaling a fish this size would make it much easier to cut.

  • Beautiful knife skills mate!

  • srry to say but u missed alot of good meat

  • ive seen better fillet technique ,, but this isn't too bad ,,, have you tried leaving the tail connected and flipping the fillet over the tail and taking off the skin while still attached ,,, it gives your fillet something to hold on to while stripping the skin ,

  • I would get Soo pissed off at the paper towel

  • thats a sketchy lookin walleye

  • Nice hatcam commercial, bad jog filleting though.

  • @suddenrushsarge

Why don't you post your filet technique?

  • thank you so much for this...it helped my girlfriend..her dad pasted away when she was young and now she can do it herself!! Thank you so much!!

  • you forgot to cut out the midline bone

  • alot of meat is in the belly of the walleye

  • the bigger waley dont even taest good

  • watch "how to properly fillet a walleye" by elwayxxxii or "How to fillet a Walleye" by DERAILERMAN. These are two great ways to fillet. elwayxxxii's will get you the most meat for sure.

  • Are you crazy? You left 1/2 the meat on that fish. Staying in the darker part of the skin was a huge mistake and you could have went way closer to the back bone. I appreciate the video and encourage more people to post them but its hard to watch so much meat get left on the fish.

  • EXCELLENT THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  • my goal is to become a pro Angler i got a Master fishing Awared all ready and only 20

  • Well done...

  • what a waste of meat, this isn't properly done as perspected in the video, this is terrible and a waste of time, you even wasted ALOT of mean, you call yourself a proffesional and angler? what a waste!

  • @wazy338 - just make sure you film it on a hatcam.

  • Visit hatcams.com so you can film your next fishing trip hands-free!

  • do u eat the walley cheeks? omg they r so good if u dont , forsure try it ! its amazing thats a nice fish to.

  • some people say its like filleting a big perch so can u use the same technique at clean a perch in 10 seconds

  • Nice cuttin skills my man.... Pretty fish good fillets, i think i'm gonna try to use this technique next time i catch something good..

  • how do walleye taste? ive never had it

  • Why did you kill a 7 pound femail? that fish was 10 to 12 years old.

Only 10% of a Walleye sucessful spawn willsurvive each year. All of these fish will be dead after 5 years.. This fish was too valuale to only catch once. PLEASE

PRACTICE CPR Catch Photo and Reliese.

  • @DAVETTE85 Walleye Is really tasty and he was hungry!

  • @DAVETTE85 How do you tell if it's a female without killing it?

  • @DAVETTE85 - I certainly appreciate he concern. Hatcams is all about catch and release - it's one of the reason why the product was invented. However, this fish was taken at a Connecticut lake that Walleye are stocked and managed in. They do not reproduce there naturally. But again, we appreciate the concern, as most other anglers should!

  • @DAVETTE85 ..i'm 100% cpr with fish...but i gotta admit if even i catch a walleye it goes home with me.

  • @kingwithabrokencrown I wouldn't go past 4 pounds, but walleyes are delicious

  • @DAVETTE85 t

i would think to eat it you dumbass what the fuk

  • @DAVETTE85

    simple

    he is a ignorant

not even close to a fisherman ,he just make his grocery

  • @DAVETTE85 dude, dont go telling people that when you cant even spell release right.

  • @DAVETTE85 plus there harder to clean and dont taste as good

  • looks delicious.

  • that's a pretty big walleye for New England

  • Very nicely done video!

  • u should practice selective harvest......thoes are spawing fish...i never keep eating walleye's over 20"......although it is a nice fish...

  • SMALLER ONES ARE BETTER AREN'T THEY??

  • Damn thats a fatty.

  • OMG What about the cheeks? On a fish that big there is a great amount of meat you are leaving behind! And what about the Y bones? Sorry to say but you lost alot of meat on this fish!

  • he filleted it just fine. You make it seem like he's using an electric fillet knife... walleye have a very bony head, not much meat there. I dont see much meat wasted, and ive been filleting fish since i was 7 years old.

  • @mmmmmarcus LOL very bony head? what are u talking about? The cheeks man the cheeks!!! A walleye 20" or bigger has some nice medallions of meat off each side of his head! They are easy to remove and have NO BONES in the cheek meat! Try it sometime, you will be suprised how tasty the cheek meat is!

  • do walleyes have that y bone section? for example like sunfish and pikes..

  • hey phenn777 that sounds like an awesome recipe. I am not sure if you have a hatcam, but if you do, you should tape yourself making it and post it in our forum. We are trying to get some videos of people cooking their favorite recipes

  • is it in connecticut

  • Yes this is in CT.

  • @skibum5722 Cool im in RI

  • That looks like 5. Unless Walleye have very dense meat. Lol well what do I know never caught one

  • might as well get some real good cheek meat out of that big walleye. also as your cutting down the rib cage, roll your knife down and you'll see that you get some more meat.

  • i love ur vids...and by the way if you catch any big perch i got a great recipe. it is called poreman shrimp. what you do is gut, scale, and take the meat off of the bones. next u put it in boiling water until it is white. then you make some coctail sauce and enjoy. (it is kind of a hassle to make but it is really good so only do this with big perch...at least 6 inches)

  • Every time i try to fillet a bass i get tiny bones that look like fishing string all in the meat

  • saltinstal (sp) nice
