  • This song is freaking awesome! :-)

  • I've forgotten how good this song is

  • Last night. What a freaking amazing show. :P

  • "All I want is a place in your heart, to fall into" I LOVE that lyric!

  • kool song kool band ....!!!

  • Brilliant song!!!

  • This is my fave song by them EVER. Other of their hits were "clever", like "She's Tight", but there's something about this song I've always loved...

  • 0:59 - 1:20 seems to come right from "Tin Soldier" (chorus) by The Small Faces.

Just an observation, OK? Cheap Trick is one my favorite bands.

  • doesnt get any better than Robin Zander!!!! WOW!!! :)

  • this is their best song.! ... they had many other good ones too.. saw them in 1993... they were quite good!! ......

  • How was this song not a top 40 hit? Excellent power-pop.

Peaked at #44 on the Billboard Hot 100, October 1985.

  • @JavaJoelRadio good question-still my favorite Trick song after all these years.

  • ....I think my favourite song from my favourite album...really rocks.....

  • a fantastic song - if it wasn't for the underrated & not so well known song - love comes - this would be my fave ct song - great awesome song, love love love this one! standing on the edge is an awfully underrated album

  • My Favorite Cheap Trick song.

  • jy,had,een,plek,gooide,het,weg,morgen,verder

  • Who ever directed this video should be thrown into a small dark room and kept there for a long time. LOL!! Typical cheeseball 80's video but man what a song! Love this group and love this tune!!

  • There's a nother video for this song. Robin is walking on a beach and singing. VH1 Classic used to play it all the time.

  • abba is fantastic, what are you gay?

  • abba is fantastic

  • even in these years where the weren't "on top"...they still had great songs! I saw the band a week ago and Zander still has great vocal power!

  • goed,beter,vrolyker,van,my,met,love,wat,is,er,met,die,music,ik,wis,het,wel,ok

  • goed,beter,vrolyker,van,my,met,love,

  • Yes..... except for Tom missing.

  • Best Cheap Trick song

  • Agreed!!! THe hall sucks - pearl jam and no ozzy- ridiculous- When I went there Sabbath wasn't even in and frickin pearl jam was - atleast sabbath is but no oz by hmself what a ficking joke

  • THat's an interesting trick, considering that Pearl Jam aren't yet eligible to be inducted. You can't be inducted until 25 years after your first album comes out, and PJ's came out in 91 or 92.

  • "All I need is someone to love

And tonight it’s you, tonight it’s you" ... and she's smiling? So ... she's not concerned at all about who he'll be with tomorrow night? Strange ... do they have - or are they planning to have - children anytime soon?

  • @sweetredredwine whut????

  • I would love to see Cheap Trick in concert! I wish they would come to Atlanta!

  • Chill out, Its more cool, Not to be in the hall of fame, Then it. No Cheap Trick, No Kiss, No Rush. The rock n roll hall of fame is for middle of the road, Sheep shaggers.

  • Most underrated band of ALL TIME!!!!!!

  • @luvinevryminitofit88 certainly, its right up there (with UFO, Triumph and Styx) as a band that should be selling out stadiums....

  • The BEST CHEAP TRICK SONG OF ALL TIME, which says alot from this TRUE HALL OF FAME BAND!

  • AMAZING SONG, one of the top 5 songs of the 80's, and really, sitting next to the others, it could be simply the best of that decade!

  • I have to confess, that was the very first song I've ever heard from CT and the first time I've heard of the band, period. That was back in 1985 ( I didn't hear the Dream Police until a few years later whereas at that time, I was guessing it was done a year earlier like back in 1984 or something). Still, I couldn't believe they have been around a decade earlier like back in the 1970s!!

  • She's dating a tool. Who watches boxing like that?

Cheap Trick is the greatest American rock band ever. The fact that Madonna, a pop artist, made it in before CT is blasfamy.

  • @joeytheratt id argue that the smithereens are, but cheap trick is right there with them.

  • Rick Nielsen is so cute when he's mugging for the camera around 3:40.

  • fucking hype song

  • VICKY DOWNEY...WHERE ARE YOU????????

  • Even at their mid 80's slump, Cheap Trick could still crank out a great tune. This is evidence. Zander is one of the best rock vocalists ever IMO.

  • Even at their "not as good" point, Cheap Trick could still crank out a great tune. This is evidence. Zander is one of the best rock vocalists ever IMO.

  • Love this song and video. Only thing missing is Tom Peterson!

  • we,zyn,nu,zolang,samen,i,love,you,ik,kies,voor,jou,peet,it,s,you,my,love,

  • For everyone who questions why CT never headlined (Budokan notwithstanding), never made it "big", or got the recognition they deserved...the answer is simple but also complex. Their great strength was also, unfortunately, their greatest weakness..they never took themselves seriously. One look at Ric or Bun, and I think that makes some sense. A bunch of guys you couldn't picture being in the same room together, let alone carry a band. They fit into all genres of the period, or none at all.

  • @johnwmcd But they're still together, though. They might not have had the type of adulation that Duran Duran or "boy bands" had, but they have survived to this very day.

  • @revacohen They are indeed, minus Bun..allegedly due to back problems. Hard to imagine CT without him, just as it was when Tom Petersson left (the first time)

  • I have no clue how I ran across this song tonight, but tonight it's: OMG think I'm love with Robin Zander @ 4:25. This song made me so friggin happy when it came out and still does! Long live power pop!

  • I have no clue how I ran across this song tonight, but tonight it's: OMG think I'm love with Robin Zander @ 4:25. This song made me so friggin happy when it came out and still does!

  • 2 people need to get their hearing checked.

  • @luvinevryminitofit88 Probably justin bieber fans.

  • One of my favorite Cheap Trick songs.

  • these guys from Rockford still KICK ROCKS!

  • Awesome band love em

  • great love song

  • one of the best bands ever period!

  • Brilliant. Thank you Cheap Trick for so many years of making me happy. You did it again at Namm 2011!!! You kicked off my New Year so perfectly!!! I wish I was that cute girl that ran across the stage how very 80's of her...and so perfect to hug you and then jump into the crowd. I hope they filmed the entire show because every song was great.

  • My FAV CT song of all time!!!

  • Killet band, and one of the ALL Time great bands. How can they not be in the RnRHOF?? I dont know. But they are timeless.

  • @boyinblack80 Her name is Pamela Stein, she's married to Robin and was playmate of the month in November, 1978.

  • The funny thing is that I totally couldn't get *anyone* to listen to this song in '85. They weren't New Wave enough for my friends, and they weren't Hair Metal enough for my enemies.

  • @RepublibotThreePoint I remember when it came out. Strange enough it wasn't even that popular. I was blown away by it but it was ignored not too long afterward. Unfortunately there is so much that rides on popularity. And of course as anyone knows, some of the greatest songs on earth don't even sell.

  • @lakefloor Yeah. Well, I think some bands get a certain reputation that keeps people from checking 'em out, even if they're doing great stuff. Cheap Trick was perceived as a 70s dinosaur band that peaked around 1981. They weren't New Wave, they weren't Rap, and they weren't Hair-Metal, so few were willing to give 'em a shot, even though they were doing their best stuff in that period.

The whole "Tiger Beat" thing will work against you: "Eww! That's the band my older sister used to like!"

  • @RepublibotThreePoint That is so true my friend. For the simple fact that they didn't really conform to the latest trend, today's generation has the perception that this was just some old band that didn't quite make it. That is so true of so many bands that were huge in the day. You have this rarity like the Beatles who seem to stand the test of time with each new generation, when so many others get lost in the shuffle. Tiger Beat...oh yes the media still has the power to make or break.

  • @lakefloor As popular acts, the halflife of a band is about five years. At that point, they'll generally either lose their audience and become old hat, *or* they'll completely redefine themselves like the Beatles did. That buys you another five years, at which point you become a fogey, or you redefine yourself again. It's a tough trick to master. The Beatles did it, but none of the members managed it individually. David Bowie does it. Madonna did it. It's rare to work, though.

  • @RepublibotThreePoint I agree. It's a tough game to even maintain a continuing steady flow of popularity. Many just fade out of the picture and others go on to become viewed as adult contemporary. Can't fight reality. Today's artists will be the dinosaurs some day. Bands like Cheap Trick and Aerosmith have to keep "coming back" to be reintroduced into popularity. Still, they will always have their followers filling up their concert halls. I don't think that will ever die!

  • @lakefloor Oh, I agree. Certainly it won't happen so long as the bandmembers themselves are still kicking. I've seen them a dozen times, they put on a great show. It's a little weird to see them without Bun E up there, though. It must have been one heck of a falling out...

  • @RepublibotThreePoint Right! It sure would be interesting to know a bit more of the details on that with Bun. They're still going strong though, in my opinion. I'll embrace whatever they can offer!

  • any idea who the model is....she's cute!

  • 何年たっても、古さを感じなくて好きな曲です。

  • always loved this song. thanks for puttin it on.

  • CT one of the most underrated bands, EVER!

  • @maddmaxx426 yes that are...they are so awesome been a fan over 30 years.

  • lovelovelovelovelovelovelovelovelove!

  • @Hazor777: It may sound strange, but Cheap Trick preferred playing Headlining in smaller club venues. A more intimate setting I suppose. You're right tho, they opened for all the heavy hitter rock bands back in the day. They kept their stage really simple, with a banner in the back. In all of their videos almost, they incorporate a live music concert stage feel.

  • F*U*C*K Y*O*U, ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME !!!!!!!

  • Robin Zander has one of the best singing voices ever! This song is awesome! I'm surprised the radio didnt embrace it more. It sends chills it's so great!

  • @Deanocub : Agreed. I could never figure out why Cheap Trick never headlined in the mid to late 80's. They would always open for top bill acts (Kiss,Robert Plant,Aerosmith,etc...) and they always put on such a great show, you didn't want to em to leave the stage. This song is a classic example of their awesome songwriting ability - tension building to a big, huge chorus with great harmonies! THAT is what makes a great RnR song.

  • Probably the most UNDERRATED band of ALL TIME!!!!!

  • what a great friggin band! Zander and Brandt (at the time) were the eyecandy, Bun E the hardworkin drummer and Rick Nielsen the genius who put it all together! The soundtrack of my teenage years!

  • I LOVE this song!! Brings back memories!!!

  • bun e. carlos... form the "slick and to the point" school of drumming. drives the band...

  • Awesome!

  • agree with hazor777 completely!

  • The rock n roll hall of fame is a joke, I'm ashamed to live in Cleveland, OH. There are a lot of groups that should be inducted, including cheap trick, but no they put

ABBA in, lets see who's next let me guess Kenny G. or how about Clay Aiken. FUCK THE ROCK HALL.

  • @TMPAUL it's also likely that justin bieber and the jonas brothers will be inducted over great acts like cheap trick, NIN, and other great bands. and it's run by fucking jann wenner. fuck that aging faggot. and fuck bieber and the jonas brothers. and their stance against bullying. well guess what. i think i'll play the bully right now and beat the holy fucking shit out of these little cunts.

  • take it easy

  • @97hms71kmb thanks, eagles. i'm through taking it easy. it's time for some anarchy.

  • @thevoid99 yeah, nice post, I agree. Also, I'd like to add if I could. Beiber and his faggot friends suck balls and cheeks. Nowadays, music is so awful that the internet and tv fish for anything decent. Back in the 80s, you had to be found, there was nothing but radio. Bieber and his new faggot rap friends and other garbage musicians can nibble on my nutsies. Cheap Trick, another great--not just good--band from the best decade for music, the 1980s.....

  • @Anthony11598 Well I agreed with everything you said until you said that the 80's was the best decade for music.

Have you forgotten Boy George...Oingo Boingo...Pet Shop Boys, Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam?

The worst music ever was made in the 80's. With very few notable exceptions.

And Cheap Trick is a 70's band.

  • @patriotgyrl65

the 90s was great tho ? is that your argument ?

  • @patriotgyrl65

you're either 12 or completely stupid. I cant wait to hear what you think is a good music decade

  • @patriotgyrl65 70s and 80s made the best music (in my opinion).

  • @thevoid99

lol, thanks for making my night!

  • @thevoid99

lol!! thanks for making my night!

  • @TMPAUL Another band that should be inducted, is Rush...They've made a ton of honest, and great work over the years and to this day even! Cheap Trick and Rush both are NOT in the R&R HoF...Rush's guitarist Alex Lifeson has said "...look at who's up for induction. Its a joke!" I couldn't agree more with that statement. Cheap Trick and Rush, are among many who deserve to be in the R&R HoF when they are not. Both bands have wrote honestly excellent work. Many need to be in, many out as well.

  • @RadeonZero

I think Journey hasn't been inducted either. I look forward to the day they induct Taylor Swift.

  • @jkoruty Hell will freeze over if Journey gets inducted before Cheap Trick.

  • @TMPAUL ABBA beat KISSS REALLY WTF?!

  • OK, who's the ONE dislike douche?!?!?!?!

  • @IndyCarFan68 I am with you! Who is the douche who disliked this!

  • Robin Zander is soooo hot!!!

  • I like the way Jon Brant shakes his hips. He turns me on.

I like to put rollers in my hair and dance to the song in my bedroom.

  • @sue86fun

Jon is meh cousin! xD I'm dead serious! We used to get to go backstage and meet 'em all! :3

  • Do you know how many times I got6 laid to this song? Women melt.

  • Great, classic sounds from awesome guys. Watch out for BRANDON JAROD. Playing hey joe, just as great!

  • been trying to rememebre what song this was. great shit.

  • A long forgotten gem~~~ thanks for posting. Can Robin Zander sing or what ??

  • Cheap Trick is not in the rock and roll hall of fame?

35 years of rock and roll that is not acceptable, how

many great bands copy their songs green day and many others.

  • @mca7777744 Cause the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are asshole and don't know real talent.:/ They should have been in there a lonnnnggg time ago!

  • @WiiGurlGaming The RnRHOF doesn't deserve bands like Cheap Trick, Alice Cooper, and Rush.

  • Comment removed

  • @mca7777744

yea funny how garbage shit like micheal jacksons there tho

  • I remember this song just barely cracked pop radio in Greensboro NC. I heard it maybe a handful of times before it fell off the playlists. Best song on the album, though - the signature changes and choruses are very unlike most things you could hear at the time.

  • Whatever happened to JON Brandt??

  • What an awesome song. First heard it on a VHS tape they put together back in the 80's. Great music. Great writing. Great band. Have had the chance to see them live in several locations, in an arena setting, a club, and at a small-town fair ground, and every show they put on is just perfect. Never saw Robin perform as a solo act, but loved his side-project efforts just as much.

  • Cheap Trick is awesome!!! Saw them live back in the early 80's and they ROCKED!!!!

  • Love this song!!

  • I LOVE this song! The video quality on this is great!

  • I remember first hearing cheap trick without realising it who they were a decade ago, was not until 2007 I even picked up a cd to check them out, after picking up everything they've done since then... I'm hooked, really hooked!

isnt the girl in this video also in a few tom petty videos around the southern accents era? lol.

  • I remember seeing CHEAP TRICK down at SOUTH PADRE ISLAND back when I was in High School!...OMg....awesome Bad' None like this anymore....

  • @PatrishaM

I've lost track of how many times I've seen them. They're just freakin ' awesome!

  • I love the way the different images all collude at the end. The boxing match, the girl on stage with CT , even the distracted boyfriend sitting on the stage watching the fight. Great video art. Plus, on of CT's best songs. Ahhh, the mid 1980's.

  • Who cares about the Hall of Fame? It' s a freaking joke half the time. Lots of great bands who aren't in it. Don't know why everyone says they're underrated, everyone I know loves them and we go see them whenever we get the chance!

  • Underrated, should have been a bigger hit.

  • alice cooper is....

  • seen these guys 4 times,absolutely great:)

  • I saw Cheap Trick in concert, was hooked the first time I heard them. I have every song on my music player that they have every done. Now my 14 yr. old high school freshman has turned on many of her classmates in her school to this great group. Its fun to see tweens get so into a band I've been listening to for so many years. Love it! I hope to be able to take her to see Cheap Trick in concert someday.

  • I worked in the music industry for years, and this is one of my favorite rock bands---terrifically underated, and always pleasing!

  • very underated band. they WILL be in rock n roll hall of fame and it should be soon...great videos.....peace to all.....

  • this is a great composition!!! great touching my soul!!! 80s the best feelings!

  • The Rock N Roll HOF doesn't choose the bands that deserve to be there. The past 5 years or so have mostly been a joke. Cheap trick, Kiss, Alice Cooper, The Moody Blues will never see the inside unless they buy a ticket or play there for some charity. makes me sick that we fought so hard for something that stands for nothing!

  • @gail5768 You are so right. They should rename that building The Pop Music Hall of Fame, build a real Rock Hall of Fame in Memphis, the birth place of rock-n-roll.

  • @metalrod23 bullseye

  • Get this band in the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame !!!

  • They're too awesome for the RnR hall of fame. The Fact that run DMC is in before them is a crock. For them to get in now would be an insult.

  • @epi61SG And Madonna and ABBA are in and neither one is rock music. Yet Cheap Trick, KISS, Boston, Journey, Badfinger, Chicago, ELO, Motley Crue and Def Leppard are not in! What a fucking joke!!! KISS said that by inducting ABBA over them this past month really pissed them off. So I hope the Rock Hall induct KISS next year and KISS tells everyone how they'll be there and how they'll play some songs and then THEY DON'T SHOW UP! But then they release a statement calling the Hall a shame!

  • @spiderdragon1969 You left out RUSH!

  • Comment removed

  • @spiderdragon1969 i know what you mean...when the hell they gonna put sam harris in thar?

  • @epi61SG The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a joke !! It is, and is becoming more and more irrealavent with each passing year. The fact that it's in Cleavland Oh. certainly doesn't help either. Fast forward 10 years - the baby boomers will be room temperature or in the Nursing home hiding their own Easter egg's. Real Rock is about dead. If you need more proof, take a look at what passes for rock these days. Hardly any of the new groups can actually play a instrument, or carry a tune.

  • Trying to figure out if Bun E. Carlos is right or left handed. His hi-hats are on different sides for different videos. Never seen this before. Maybe he plays both left and right handed and that's impressive.

  • @fyrfytrbil - Bun E. is left handed but plays both right and left handed. I heard an interview with him one time where he said that he likes to switch up to keep things fresh.

  • Trying to figure out if Bun E. Carlos is right or left handed. His hi-hats are on different sides in different videos. Makes it hard to get his beats down. Never noticed this with any other drummer. Maybe he plays both left and right. That's impressive!!

  • LOL @ Rick's expressions in this one!

  • Oh, how funny was that commercial! I'm glad CT got finally got a spot in Americanism; wanted or not. When it acutally played we were kinda ripped and I didn't notice the lyric change, but I did comment to friends about how they finally made it. I love this band!

  • I saw these guys in Madison several years ago in the front row and they put on a phenomenal show. Robin's voice is as clear and powerful now as it was then. I've seen them at Summerfest as well with the same result. They consistently continue to put out great music and I agree are underappreciated. I think it is great that " Dream Police " has been remade into the "Green Police" on the Audi Superbowl ad.

  • oh yeah.. and.. the girl, in the video... she resembled too closely a girl i was inlove with in high school... ahhh Krissi... what a fool i was...........

  • I had a huge crush on the girl in this video when I was a small kid, I remember my heart skipping every time the video came on MTV haha.

  • Ahhhh.. my youth.. spent many an hour watching MTV just to learn the lyrics for this AWESOME song!!! thanks guys!!!

  • what an awful video.

but I LOVE CHEAP TRICK AND THIS SONG!!! :)

  • there just a great band to me .iam 45 and a long time fan

  • Thanks for posting. Awesome song and great quality. I had almost forgot about one of the best!!

  • One of the BEST songs ever from Cheap Trick! Thanks for posting it!!

  • One of Cheap Trick's best! brings me back 2 the summer of '85, just gettin' out of Coast Guard boot camp. gr8 mems!

  • I'm 50 and hotter than ever. I thankfully haven't aged much! I make the most of what I got, too!! LOL!!

  • Great song! Takes me back to the days i was single looking for a one night stand.

  • Hey man. I am 46. Only 2 years older than you. I am still running around looking for the 1 night stands! My hats off 2 you man. I am acting more like 26 than 46. I better start growing up! Would,nt u say? But I still love the 80s music! Nothing better!

  • @ abacus1963.I hear you Bro ! I am 43 and still see myself as in my 20's in my minds eye !dress,we of speaking. I keep saying to myself i had better wake up and act my age..the sweet bird of youth has flown.but what can I say..I am just not ready to accept being a couch potato and wearing pocket protectors.what does this all mean anyway, this crazy life? we are screwed one way or the other so why not delude ourselves?

  • Hey guys every age has its beauty. We can still be active and healthy and sensual in our 40's without acting like overgrown teens. Hopefully we're alot smarter now than we were then.

  • Yes Mam you are so right. I do agree with u very much! And from this moment forward I am going to try and make a change for the better. Because as crazy as this may sound I do believe in what the Bible teaches and I do want to be a better person.

  • Bull's Eye!

  • This video got huge airplay on VH-1. It's just too bad it didn't do that well on Billboards Hot 100. Fabulous song!
