Actually Sondheim's song reflects what the original fairy tale meant--which (if you ignore the Grimm Brother's version) includes the wolf luring her into her grandmother's house and making her not only do a strip tease for him but also climb into bed with him--it was to warn young girls from letting older men a.k.a. sexual predators from taking advantage of them....its all there in the lyrics if you take a look ^^
