Underworld is definitely their masterpiece. I liked Archangels in Black, but not my favorite album of theirs so far. I'd rank it just below Dominate, which it seems like they tried to replicate but didn't quite get it the second time around.

All of their albums have something new to offer, it wouldn't do justice to any of them to say that any are better. Their first album is very symphonic and has one of my favorite chorus's of all time (Inner Road). Underworld is a progressive masterpiece and has Mirror Fucking Stage. Dominate was a nice intermediary album with good harmony and still progressive elements (such as Children of the Dead Lake) and now they've brought METAL in the picture with the new album.

There are more bands than before, yes, but Adagio have proved they can do a lot better than most of those bands. Anyway, if you compare this to "Underworld" you'll see that it wasn't a change about the music genre it was a change in the band's songwriting, towards a simpler, less creative music (and a lot more easy-listening). It's better than the previous album though.

Look at the SymX, they're playing the same music over and over, and now I can't even listen thru their last album (PL), because a good half of the ideas have been heard on their previous albums. I rather have Adagio playing power than sticking up to the same old formula they used in Underworld.

SymX is, in my opinion, in a similar position, they have simplified their form which is well defined in New Mythology as well as Odyssey, but the reason it is not that drastic with them is because they never evolved such an advanced form/harmony/melody as Adagio-Underworld, and because they are longer on the scene so they didn't have the need to change a lot to gain more fans. A-UW sound would never - as they have showed in progress from Sanctus - become stale, but would be always reinvented.

For me this is a massive return to form for Adagio! Christian Palin is an excellent vocalist and I think he will do the Underworld and Sanctus songs justice live.

The last album in my opinion was very poor mainly due to the vocals, the clean vocals were not up to much and the harsh ones were over used.

The new album is great and while its not as good as the Readman years it is still fantastic!

USA spoils great bands very much. DT is good example, but only untill recently.

European rock/metal scene has much more potential, but gets buriead under US chewing gum(there are some exeptions).

I didn't like new Adagio album as much as i liked previous. This video is good though.

Let's hope that next albums will be much better.
