Oh I do love this movie, and its soundtrack..it is just great. Unfortunatelly nowadays i can´t even hear it, due to connection with my lost love...:( It is sad, because with her I have lost this fantastic movie too..
I have listened to many different recordings of this music and it grabs me by the heart strings every time I hear it. Morricone is a genius of musical composition, as I am finding more and more as I discover that he composed so many of the tunes that have been buzzing around in my head for years. All 14 tracks of Hayley Westenra's new album "Paradiso" are Morricone compositions (not so surprising when you realise that he was the producer), even if the lyrics are written by someone else.
why does such a brutal terrifying movie use such beautiful music? these times were hard on people too and there was not much good in any aspect. so what's with the heavenly music? it's not like it's the end of Lord of the Rings Part 3, no there's brutal murder instead throughout.
@meNtor890 It's used to show the death of the old West, Leone wanted this to be his final word on the Western. In the end only one character has a happy ending - and she is the symbol of the industrialisation of the West and the end of the old ideas of cowboys and outlaws. All the outlaws end up dead and the old landowners are defeated. The music both celebrates and mourns the passing of the old way of life but leaves in no doubt that the world is better for its passing.
I've never seen the movie, as I don't watch movies with a high violence content..ect. However, I am a fan of Ennio Morricone. He was a true master. Thank you so much for the video. I love listening to it.
@AgentMelton this is a violence movie no doubt, but this is also a Masterpiece of Poetry, the best Western ever made for this reason; this movie "speak" with silence and glances of the protagonists; in this movie the old west leave place to the modern era when the train finally arrived to Sweet Water! see this movie and you fall in love with Jill, Armonica and Cheyenne.
Sergio Leone's Old West was no place for today's fem males of questionable courage that often, one assumes, still nurse from their mothers well into their 40's...then came the Bounty Hunters and Land Grabbers as Morricone's BRILLIANT music played.
Such wonderful music...from such a violent movie. The movie ...in spite of its violent scenes was remarkably good...think the glorious theme music was a contributing factor though.
My absolute favorite movie of all time, with absolutely the greatest musical score of all time. I've watched it again and again and never get tired of it. Leone was a genius and Morricone a true artist, yet I'm always surprised by how many people who have never heard of this movie, even those who are big fans of the The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. It makes me sad that we'll never see this kind of art again, once upon a time, they made movies like this, but not any more.
This is mine and my husbands favourite piece of music. We love all the "Spagetti" movies. Would like alot to have alot mor than what we have. The best ever.
Seriously! I despair at the people who have disliked this, i know we all have opinions but only a braindead emotionless heathen could find fault here.
A song like that makes one realize how precious life is and the memories we make. It goes so fast and then one day its gone forever but time keeps moving on and it doesn't miss a beat.
All 4 westerns directed by Sergio Leone are great, but this one particularly is by far THE BEST, there is no doubt in my mind. My husband has watched it so many times in his college years, so I got curios and bought the movie. Hats off to El Maestro! The music of EM is also the best of a kind, I listened to it long before I knew who Sergio Leone was...
I have seen this film Many, Many Times.. I play the sound track at our training facility 4-5 times per day, Everyday.. it is very soothing music to train horses by, keeps your mind level and centered...
This is love, hate, pain, happiness, sadness, euphoria, this a big love, this is your mother, this is your father, this is a deep kiss on the sunset, a child smile, a loss, a new life that come in this world, this is when you was young as this is the last day of your life, this is the end of a love as the beginning of a new one, this is a bad experience as a good memory, this is the biggest cry of your life as the biggest and intense moment you will ever have.. this is all about life!
Every day I listen to this song, and every day I see a masterpiece of a master, every day I see one of the most beautiful women, and every day confirms his belief that during my funeral when once doejde of the World wants byten track and flew to present knew why I loved this movie more than anything ....
In an interwiew for the Magazine Studio(85),Morricone inquired why use both the "voice" in the various works,in that will track your orders:"the voice of man is the most beautiful ,most perfect ,because it comes the dephts of your body is a bit of a rumor of a body, even the sound is snatched from life, with the voice there is no mediation of the instrument ,the sound is directily rooted in our guts". this explains my passion for Morricone and things of the films.mlmlmarcoslima@gmail.com.
Ennio Morricone is comparable to Rossini. He is the only living creator of symphonic music. No one else is so good in setting both music and video in a single creation. Grazie Ennio per quello che offri all'Umanita'.

Morricone for sure has left an unforgivable trace in our life. Thanks Maestro !!!
sergio leone e ennio morricone hanno sposato insieme l'anima del cinema italiano. orgoglio di un ultracinquantenne che non riesce a smettere di sognare. grazie. ancora grazie. artisti veri.
@OneAtheist1 The innocent looking ones make the scariest villains. In an interview Hank said he had grown a moustache and put brown contact lenses in to look more villainous for the role but Sergio told him to shave and and use his baby blue eyes as that look is far more memorable and villainous .
Marvellous ! There is nothing lile on earth; there is nothing that live and had msic broad, rich, unique; And... it happens as we say from 50mil, on all earth and all hearts. Not one day, one season, one fashion, thousands years; no country, no just business, earth and life, full, beyond, and ever lives.
Just people, a drop in earth, not for years or seasons, ever since live. thank you, since ever, for ever.
@hussnfussel His name is Frank Wolff, playing Mr McBain here. He also starred as a Sheriff in a very haunting western with an Ennio Morricone soundtrack, The Great Silence. Frank commited suicide way back in 1971. Al Mulock, seen here from 0.24 to 035 also commited suicide during the shooting of this movie by jumping out of a hotel window still wearing the duster seen in the memorable opening sequence.
@DoYouLoveU2 What a beautiful tribute to your Dad. This is my favorite Western and I know as a Dad that I would be honored and touched to know my daughter dedicated this to me when I am gone.
I hate this ERA i'd like i was born in their time :Train robbery quickdraw's gang's old gun's good old beer barn small city cowboys rangers AND ONE AND ONLY WILD WEST
I was born in 1988,my parents were 3 years old when this movie released...but it's still one of our favourite film besides the other spagetti-westerns...Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone are hilarious.New movies are just waste of time
One of the most beautiful, haunting melodies from the movies. Every time I hear it I think of the pioneers of the West. Their lives, hardships, courage and triumph.
By the way this was on of the few movies that Henry Fonda played the bad guy. If you really want to see a portrayal of a cold, hard man he gives a great one.
@cdavmix522 Henry Fonda really shone in a role so counter to his image at that time. It was ballsy for him to do it...as he was always a hero in most films. Perhaps why it was so effective seeing him so evil in the part. Great casting in regards to that.

Listening to the start of California Girls - The Beach Boys immediately reminded me of this. The start of both tunes are kinda similar.

Never saw the film until I picked up the DVD - after watching it I thought it was probably one of the best films that Sergio Leone made.

This was my dad's favourite movie. And he also loved this music.
RIP dad. Miss you, this is for you.

@DoYouLoveU2 What a beautiful tribute to your Dad. This is my favorite Western and I know as a Dad that I would be honored and touched to know my daughter dedicated this to me when I am gone.

If you really want to see a portrayal of a cold, hard man he gives a great one.
cdavmix522 3 months ago
@cdavmix522 Henry Fonda really shone in a role so counter to his image at that time. It was ballsy for him to do it...as he was always a hero in most films. Perhaps why it was so effective seeing him so evil in the part. Great casting in regards to that.
