true, but a lot of places don't have skateparks, so skateboarders look for just about any large concrete space to use.
and then the property owners, police, city officials, etc, tell them they can't be there.
and then the city council follows it up by refusing to build a place for skateboarders to skate.
and then the police get mad when they find you there again, even though there's not anywhere else TO skate.

@dacel88 Racing a car down busy streets is a LOT more dangerous than skateboarding across an empty parking lot. Poor example on your part.
And honestly, if you own a car and really want to go race, you're completely capable of driving to the nearest drag strip. Just pay an entrance fee and they'll gladly let you embarrass yourself in whatever street-legal mid-sized sedan you may own.
14-year olds can't exactly skateboard 100 miles to the nearest skate park. It's a bit different.

@dacel88 Also, building a skate park and saying "just skate here" is quite a bit more reasonable than saying, "No skateboarding in the city of 'insert name here', ever." Because they KNOW people are going to do it anyway. And not just a few people, hundreds.
It's a massive waste of resources to have police cite skateboarders DAILY when they could be out addressing real criminal issues.
