  • wow... they completely changed Guy, Tia and Artea! they look great but it's quite different to the originals.

  • As a "old school gamer" I have to say... thats looks great... great music, great design, and great graphics... BUT DON'T FEEL LIKE A LUFIA. Sorry fans, I have to say it...

  • hecharon a perder uno de mis juegos favoritos.....

  • I think that kind of battle system, while different from the original, is in keeping with the general theme of the original game. Most of the time, I'd skip on a remake that does something like this. With this, I think it'll work. Lufia 2 seemed to focus more on non-battle puzzles than turn based combat anyway. Most fights were because you were grinding money/levels.

  • btw: i hope there will be a better ending as the snes version had

  • @EvilchrisX There is a alternative ending in the ds version

  • @EvilchrisX "YOU LITTLE HOOCHIES!!!"

I'm sorry, I just had to do that XD

  • @EvilchrisX Better ending? Lufia 2 had probably one of the best endings on the system. Not all games should end with "and they lived happily ever after" ....even though I'm a big maxim-and-Selan fan too. (Not that an ending where they live would be unwelcome)

  • Lufia 2 is easily my favorite game of all time. As long as they keep the plot the same i know im going to love this.

  • I'm willing to give the game a chance. Yes, its nothing like the original, but I'll play it before I judge. Just as long as Dekar is still badass

  • @Tikku4ever Yeah. I'm a little skeptical, but there's no reason to just dismiss this immediately.

  • @MeineGato yes....guy was a priate not a he man...and ...omg the whole thing looks awful...y's rip... :( an dI LOVE thsi game...they ruined it...

  • Y's RIP OFFFFF!!!!!!!!

  • Bishie Dekar... do not want.

  • do want

  • ahh,a VERY Great remake for Lufia 2,a more polished art style, another Style of battle system that isnt really just about hack and slash, and a more deeper plot then the Original one.

and now that its be announced that its going to be localized,I cant wait to get my hands on it

a very well done remake I must say, might top the Original, but I cant say until I play it XD

  • I like the idea where this is going i guess, but they ruined the lufia 2 we all know and love. they should have done a turn based rpg like the original for a remake of lufia 2, then made a different lufia like this one with this battle system etc

  • they made Lufia bad -_-

  • This looks to be an Action RPG remake of Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals...

  • What is this crap?

Lufia was good without the retarded anime bullshit.

  • @XanBcoo lol it was always "anime bullshit" you never noticed?

  • It looks fun, I loved Lufia 2 and hope they publish this in NA (and everywhere else) and if they don't, they're missing a HUGE opportunity.

  • fok i hate hack and slach rpg;s where is the good ol turn basded :S this is so not funny...

  • @Ni83co It seems to be the direction that Square is taking everything. I completely agree with you, turn based has a certain charm. I loved the direction they took Castlevania SOTN and Strider for the PS2. Why cant they stay true to the classic style we love with these remakes? It is a shame. Oh well I still think this looks like a really good game. I have not enjoyed a Final Fantasy game since 7 because of what they are doing to that series.

  • If you deny Square Enix influence at cutscenes of 3:00 and on then you are blind. If they published it, it nevertheless doesn't change my argument. Publishers should steer clear of development and stop fucking with them.

  • I have never played a Lufia game. Maybe I should pick one up for my SNES...

    This does seem kinda interesting.

  • Play Lufia 2. This game is a remake of it and it's awesome.

  • @InsanoRider777 This is a remake? a lot of that shit looks new, plus Dekar or "Hydekar" now doesn't have blue hair, and Iris never travels with you. I guess as far as story goes though it could only be a remake

  • Everything Square Enix touches turns into final fantasy. Even the games that had nothing to do with final fantasy to begin with. SE just couldn't let the original devs make the game I suppose. Don't get me wrong, I liked how FF10 looked, but these same old effects and poses get uh, old, fast.

  • @ManhwaFan It's not made by Square Enix. They are only publishing it. Neverland Company is developing it. So take it out on Neverland if you're dissatisfied.

  • Tia makeover nya〜

  • Disheartening. My classmate wasn't kidding when he said it was going to play like a Zelda game, huh? Not that I dislike Zelda but I guess in terms of gameplay there's nothing to connect this to the original. I'm starting to get the impression that the plot, too, has been significantly rewritten.

Which makes me wonder why they bothered to buy the various copyrights if what they really wanted to make was a completely different game.

  • Bloody purists, enjoy the game for what it is. Being one of my favourite games of all time, I'm just DYING to get this remake.

  • is my favourite too

  • Maybe we actually get to fight Arek in this game....

Damn you original, for teasing us with him but never letting us fight him!

  • Comment removed

  • I think this game has a lot of potential. I grew up playing Lufia 2, but I'm willing to give the game a chance.

  • At the end of the trailer, was that Guard Daos? I know Guard Daos wasn't even introduced in Lufia II but just wondering.

  • The big golem thing? No way. This is a trailer, they wouldn't spoil the final boss in it. Hell, they wouldn't even spoil regular Daos even though we already know he was the final boss of the original game, let alone a surprise final boss who we wouldn't be expecting. Even Amon hasn't been "revealed" yet.

  • @Socran

That's cause Lufia II was a prequel to Lufia I. How can you NOT know Daos would be the final boss for II if you've played the original Lufia before?

  • @ChaosMissile You're completely missing the point. First off, some people haven't played the original Lufia II, let alone the first Lufia. Second, this was in response to somebody who asked if the giant golem was the new final boss. And third, it's VERY common to have a new villain (or at least final boss) introduced in prequels/remakes. Just look at Genesis in Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core.

  • Please god...

Let the european version have the jap. laguage and not the crap english one...

  • @SKJmin

Don't get your hopes up... the americans will definitely dub this game and our european version will also definitely be based on the US version. We can just pray that we have the option to choose the language we want.

  • @ReonSukottoKenedi

Yeah that would be the best!!

Like Castlevania - Order Of Ecclesia

There is also an option to chosse between renglish and japanese language!

I can speak/understand english, that's not the problem...

Japanese words not, but they're sounding just cool^^

  • @SKJmin

I don't have problems with neither english nor japanese.

    私は日本語を分かる

But that such an option was available in Order of Ecclesia I didn't know.

    Thx for mentioning that :D

  • I'm a little dissapointed they changed Dekar's image, and practically gave that image to Guy.

Oh well, he'll still kickass anyway.

  • You know, i think that this isnt like a direct Remake, its very very different. Arty has White hair. Dekar has pink hair... (WTF) Tia has Orange Hair. Barty got a sex change... (ALSO WTF) and its an action RPG, which im really pissed off about. They should have kept it at a turn-based RPG like the old Lufia 2. That is one of the things that made it great. But the action rpg will probably be the games ultimate downfall. Meh, ill get it anyway... Just cause ive beaten lufia 2 like 50 times.

  • I can't get enough of this video. It brings back old memories of Lufia 2. This game is gonna rock if they release it stateside

  • amazingg i cant wait for it

  • I´d call it "The Bastard Child of Final Fantasy and Lufia" O.o Even though i´m not a great FF fan imo this looks promising

  • Oh my God.

I just recognised, that Tia is in the Group, even when Artea joined them... and he ist attacking with a gun?!?

That are to much changes in the storyline for me...

  • @Gosti1985

To bad, chey have changed almost everyone's hair color...

    Can't wait for the game...

I hope the european release is not so far,...

  • Oh, come on. Need I mention as a reminder that you fought a freakin tank as a boss on the original SNES version? I don't really think a gun's THAT out of place.

  • Speaking of that tank... Was there ever a point in the original game where Berty's gender was directly addressed? I always assumed it was a guy, and that he had been changed into a girl for this game, but looking at some gameplay footage of the original... I'm just not sure anymore.

Speaking of character redesigns, Idura looks much less generic than he did in the original, to the point where I actually find him interesting. He, Lexus, Berty, and Bart have profiles up on the main website.

  • I had to recheck some game scripts to be sure, but near the beginning in Alunze Kingdom when you're going after them inside the dungeon, the guy you wake up mutters something about 'two men' and later when Maxim and Tia spot them at the waterway Tia says "Those two guys!"

So seems like they will pull a gender switch for Berty in remake

  • Alright, thanks. I just looked at Berty's sprite again and realized that he actually has the same hair style and color as in the remake... But I actually think it's BART who got turned into a woman. In the Japanese version, if I recall, "Jimmy" was the leader between "Jimmy and Tommy", but this time it's "Jimmy and Jemmy" (I think, I can't exactly read Japanese). Still, if they keep the "alternate American names", they'll probably call the man Bart and the woman Berty (or Bertie?).

  • Well, an important new plot point is that the main characters use weapons powered by something called a Hadou Stone (in the Japanese version - it'll probably be Wavestone or something in English). Arty probably just got Dr. Lexus to modify his into something more fitting to be used at a range, resulting in a Magic Elf Bowgun(TM). And anyway, they're trying to distance themselves from the generic Lord of the Rings type of elves.

  • Tia is red-haired :O

Hehe (c) Taito 93, 95...Well this trailer doesn't look bad ;) Love that they kept the awesome music.

  • looks really really good please come to us

  • One complaint so far: Maxim looks too darn Square Enix-ie.

But that is like the minorest of minor complaints, I cannot fucking wait.

Also, it looks like when a team mate joins you this time around, they stay for good. I guess that means I'll be using Dekar (Hydekar?) forever.

  • Looks awesome, just wish they kept the turned based rpg style battle system.

  • This looks badass. When I first heard SE was remaking Lufia 2, I was kind of wary. But seeing it in action... It looks great

  • Now that I think about it, this looks like it plays exactly like Ys 7. Which is to say it's going to be SWEET.

  • North American release date, plox.

  • Even though I pirate most DS games, I will buy this. Because it's just THAT awesome.

  • I JUST LOVE THIS MUSIC 1:53 !

  • The classic Doom Island theme, one of the best themes the series has, from a series where literally every tune is a great one.

  • I was unsure at first but from what I see now... I think I see what Neverland is doing, and I love it. Its a revision that just might work.

    Is it the 25th yet?

  • 23 more days.

  • ^^ great
