  • have you travler roots my mums people were powers..

  • Wow, her bodhran playing is unbelievably musical, and Powers' is off the roof as usual. I wonder what type of tipper is being used for the drumming.

  • Awesome! I've got your lesson book + CD... Hoping to getting a little more close to your harmonica skills :D

  • @1992daan: I was just about to buy that myself.

  • awesome bodhran playing and great set of tunes, well done on arrangement folks.

  • you know, it's not that hard to learn a basic rhythm on a bodhran, but skill of this quality this is a true delight to witness

  • holy crap. love the groove on bodhran. So gentleand controlled. And the harmonica, well, uh, wow shall we say?

  • That is no way to play like that. They are amazing. Perfect in every way.

  • The two of you work together so perfectly here! Incredible!

  • Superb. The timing of both of you and together is so accurate that it mesmerises. Great video. Bruce Thomson, Palmerston North, New Zealand.

  • Bravo!!! Maestro!!!

  • Bloody Hell ! I was looking for an irish tune played on harmonica, but this is so amazing that it's outrageously good ! I love it ! Brendan you're fantastic, Lucy you are wonderful ! you both ! I want more ! I'm adding you on my list, You MUST send me a short message each time you post a new masterpiece like this, I want to hear it ! I've never heard a chromatic sound like that, how can you make such a sound with a chromatic ? I just don't understand, can you explain

    please ? More please !

  • wow 1 British person disliked this...

  • You are both great!! How can I get in touch with Lucy,I would like to ask her some ?? about the Bodhran, Thanks

  • Outstanding playing!

  • My god! That's not good or even very good, but just perfect. I just cannot imagine how it could done better. I've been listening to Irish music for more than forty years and so I'm seldom amazed when I find new good stuff, but you managed to amaze me.

It's really injust, but my space is restrichted and so I limit all detailed praising to Lucy with her canny and economical style, looking causual like drying dishes, but absolutely precise, never a bit shaky, and knocking me off my feet.

  • Dear Brendan and Lucy,

This is spellbinding. Outrageously amazing. I am a newcomer to the world of instrumental music, and to say the least, your work is highly inspirational.

Hope to learn from you personally some day.

All the very best with your future endeavors.

    Regards

    sd

  • again so beautiful i love it(: i wish i cud play the harmonica like u(:

  • Terrrrrrific!!!

  • gggggrrrreeeeattt !

  • amazing! although could lucy go just a little bit louder?

  • I dont know.. I think it's for that reason, her taste as well as ability make Lucy one of the very best

  • What are the name of the songs?

  • The Drunken landlady, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, and John Stenson's No. 2

  • MIGHTY!!!

  • very great !!!!

  • Both players are SOOOO good and make it look SOOOOO effortless, even this level of skill is SOOOO difficult !! As a total beginner on the bodhran, I have to say Lucy is my new hero! And if you haven't seen "Sweet Bulgarity" yet, look it up!!!

  • I don't think i've ever heard anyone play a harmonica like that before. 10 STARS! And excellent bodhran playing as well. You both are VERY impressive. KEEP IT UP!

  • There's got to be a sixth star for rating such gems as this. 'Awesome' doesn't go far enough.

  • You're my hero!

    Perfect

I will tell it to Donald Black...

  • Wow, truly amazing playing on both your parts.

  • The word "awesome" gets thrown around lightly these days, this stuff is what it should be reserved for because this is AWESOME!

  • wow..its just sound of soul very sweet cant believe harmonica can do this magic God bless you take care cheers

  • Wow ... quelle belle analogie! Très bon commentaire!

  • Bravo!

  • All those beats!! And it looks like you never use the top of the tipper to make triplets. Great inspiration...I'm just getting started and this fires me up. One of the best bodhran videos on youtube. Thanks!

  • wow - just brilliant- thanks so much.

  • That's always TOO MUCH FUN I love it

  • Love how you make that harmonica sound so much

like a tin whistle. Just fantastic!!!!!

What type of harps do you play on or prefer??

    Caroline)i(

  • Hi Caroline - I'm playing a new Suzuki chromatic called the Fabulous on this set of tunes. All brands have their good points, but I prefer Suzuki because their reeds last the longest.

  • you two are amazing together!!! i love your bodhran style subtle and so effective. my favorite is sweet bulgarity!!! i hope you both have more to post...pleeeeease.
