The first time I saw "Orange Juice" was in 1980 and I LOVED them, Since then I've been a huge fan of Mr Edwyn Collins. What a talent and what a fighter. His wife Grace is a tenacious Celt and "give up" is something completely alien to her.

Tamla Motown Records were based in Detroit between 1958 and 1972, so most of the songs recorded by Motown artists during this period could be classed as Detroit soul, e.g Marvin Gaye, Temptations, Supremes etc. There might have been a few more labels based in Detroit at the same time but I can't remember. You could look for a 60s Motown hits compilation
