As much as I loved Les Paul, I beg to differ with Operalover....we certainly WILL see guitarists as splendid as he was...but not as unique in the big picture...innovator, inventor, musician...in that respect, he was one of a kind for sure.
My greatest condolences to Les Paul. We will never witness as splendid a guitarist as he was. I was amazed to realize that the god of guitars lived up to 94.
And this piece deserves to be a masterpiece. Thanks for uploading.
@godluckyhoward Actually, Les Paul used his multitrack recorder to speed up the guitar track, leading to the fast, high pitch sound. He then overdubbed this with the standard track for the effect.
@ABSjazz Who knows if Les was so clever as to speed up his high-pitched track as to be in tune, or if that was the first track he recorded & all the others were tuned to the pitch of the first? My channel of 700 playlists is 2 years old next week, 54,000 views so far! It's organized by me, but built by the uploaders, my friends & 1600 subscribers. This video is on my memorial list for the greats who have passed away these past 2 years. Nice to see the next generation here as we honor another!
Les Paul was amazing I remember a few years back seeing him and Chet Atkins perfom a kind of dueling guitars was so cool to watch two of the greatest players ever.
Thankyou! I was looking for the original song for my history of rock music class since I have a listening quiz with my midterm! The "chipmunk" sounding guitar is a result from them recording it at half the speed. They also used overdubbing thats why her voice is not a chipmunk. ahhhhh soooo much to know before the test!!
Beautiful music, great audio. Nice - but (to me not wonderfully appropriate) vidj. But my compliments on having uploaded this superb music - Les Paul's multitracking using prmitive equipment is worth a whole lot of dscussion, and Mary Ford has a lovely voice. Thanks for making it available.
I HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING AND BEING IN LES' COMPANY SEVERAL
TIMES DUE TO THE GENEROSITY OF ANOTHER FRIEND BUCKY PIZZARELLI
ANOTHER GIANT IN THE WORLD OF JAZZ. I WARMLY CHERISH THOSE
MOMENTS. REST IN MULTI-TRACK PEACE LES.

Most people think this is a synthesizer sound, but its an electric guitar in the hands of the great Les Paul. Listen and learn...Les is more!
