They have been making these things for generations! his method is counter intuitive as well...drying the leaves? yeah lets waste yet more energy in producing this crap.
The council are wasting money on this? they should be ashamed.
This guy is a fucking moron if the claims are true regarding wax.
He essentially created the downfall of his own product if there is any wax at all in this product. There are other fire-friendly alternatives than using wax for binding. Wax is not a fireplace's friend.
I love people like this. They make claims that it's so environment friendly yet they are running automatic presses on gas or electric. Ontop of that adding a non-environment friendly compound (wax) to the log itself.
@jeffpicks Yea, it's dumb. It's also contradicting.
It's like saying you build a 100 mpg car but your factory needs to consume 100,000 gallons more fuel to build the car as compared to a regular car, yet the car will only consume an average of 50,000 of fuel in it's lifetime. Makes absolutely no fucking sense.
Old idea, can even use an old trash compactor to pack leaves into a burnable medium. The BIGGER idea is proper combustion for the leaves. You need a proper burning appliance to burn leaves well. other than that just high pressure to compact them and a tiny bonding agent. Old news, leaves, sawdust, wood chips, old shoelaces, whatever you can find that is a good fuel can be packed and burned. Again its the proper combustion that is the bigger breakthrough.
Great idea in principle........but! how much energy is used to dry, manufacture, and distribute them? and what are those additives mentioned? Surely the old americans home production machine is a better idea?
Has the council gone mad they are probably funding this fool. He invented nothing, this has been around for hundreds of years. Just think about it, dry out leafs, put them into a rolled form , and light it. He just made big cigarettes.......hes a genius. He mentions splitting the atom if i split his head i wiuldnt even find an atom in there
sounds like the makings of a house fire if it has wax in it will form a coating in you chiminey or flue pipe and the methane he refures to is a natural accuring process one that does not harm the enviroment where do you think dirt comes from that is what organincs brake down too
As a person who use to make newspaper logs I like the idea.

@corpralj3 So what the guy really is doing is making 'candles' with the leaves as the 'wick'... this is stupid.

Does anyone know what can be used as a bonding agent? I heard that flour and water works.

dont know how this guys got the brass neck to claim he invented this.
People have been briqueting leaves , straw, husks, sawdust etc since the year dot.
To Make it worse, the cheeky b#stards patented it
Oh and each log contains half a kilo of petroleum candle wax, how eco.

Seems like this is a copy of the guys idea from another Youtube clip last year - is that the case?

And his only uses leaves, flour and water. But the idea is noting new. I let wet leaves dry in 'sheets' then a rough rolling with a piece of twine.

Now lets see how they burn and how to create our own.
