I hate black keys, because they are half the widths of the white keys and harder to grab. That's why I think Janko is a better layout, for all its keys are same sized! Apart from that the benefits are the same; except Janko offers a 3rd of more hand-span.
Hello all. One of the reasons I kept the traditional look of the keyboard is that I wanted it to be recognizable by anyone who sees it. There are more efficient ways of doing the keyboard but it is usually unrecognizable by the average person and scares them away. Also, this keyboard can use a chromatic staff that no longer needs sharps or flats. Playing the chords on this keyboard is easier because once you know them, they transpose to every other place on the keyboard.
Your enthusiasm is wonderful. There is a whole group of us interested in alternative keyboards and how to make your own. Do it yourself style. Check out our wiki and Google group, diykeyboard dott org.
lool, nice. I've been dreaming about this exact thing for 16 years ... check out my profile portrait btw :) I can't afford a japanese chromatone, much less a real janko piano. I have thought about trying to mod existing keyboards into a uniform layout but I'm no tech head. For now I'm stuck with toying around with this idea on my laptop keyboard.
This is the future! Good luck with your invention.
Why did you not build a 3 layer Janko-Uniform layout? That would make the keys truly uniform.
On your Kbd the key sizes are unequal !!

The problem I see with your layout is that it still has those narrow black keys (which I hate!), whereas JANKO's keys are are all equally sized.

Why not make all the keys "white" (not raised)?
