  • cbs vids are the worst @ ads

  • @xkcman Use an ad blocker. Google it.

  • When Dick Ebersol was in his mother's womb, she cried tears made of black tar every night.

  • @1:40

    "He was a guy..."

Dave translated: "He was an asshole..."

  • screw cbs and harpo

  • Letterman is the undesputed KING of Late night TV!!!!

  • @mimi6619 Plenty of dispute. The incomparably great performance he gives in this clip has a kind of childish streak he probably wouldn't display if he was the king. But as the perennial 2nd and sometimes 3rd place finisher in the time slot, he doesn't mind hurling stones.

  • I don't think most NBC executives could pour water out of a bucket if the instructions were on the bottom.

  • didn't ebersol fuck up snl almost to the point of cancelation?

  • @abehammy That was Jean Doumanian. Dick was brought in to save SNL from cancellation and did. Cancellation talk resumed about 6 years later, but SNL goes through that cycle all the time. Ebersol has had a great career, even here you can tell Dave doesn't have the kind of venom for Ebersol that he had for Ohlmeyer, Littlefield, Zucker, etc. Dave was just responding to a direct accusation.

  • '"and i'm thinking dick dick dick dick dick" lmao classic letterman.

  • The ratings have never mattered and are never going to matter. If we want to talk about numbers, Letterman makes boatloads more dough than Leno; but that's niether here nor there.

Letterman is the king. Jay's (an asshole) good enough. Conan's on his way to a better gig. This whole thing worked out great.

  • dick ebersol!? jesus christ, what a jew-loving moron... what a fitting name to describe his personality. Can't believe this guy is sticking up for that idiot, jeff zucker and his golem jay leno.

  • Stop whining about the commercials you ingrates. You're getting free entertainment so STFU!

  • @celestialnubian

shut up bitch, i hope a commercial rapes u in the arse.

  • Dick Ebersol was the same guy (at least in "The Late Shift" movie) that referred to Leno as having "piss-poor interviewing skills".

  • @ShawnieMac It's explained a great deal more in the book. Ebersol was actually one of the few NBC execs pulling for Letterman in '92

  • I don't like Leno but isn't it kind of funny Letterman is ALWAYS second in the ratings? Conan is tops.

  • sprint = blacklisted.

  • search 'david melkonian'

  • Go get them Dave make fun of all of them Jay Leno is not worth watching anyways David Letterman rules I am glad NBC does not know what the hell they are doing anyways Jay Leno is a yes sir man, Yes sir to anything NBC wants they try to do that shit to David he does not take there shit he left and went straight to CBS and he showed them. David Letterman Rules man...lol

  • And he was a guy, he was always a guy and he still is a guy.

    Loled irl @ that.

  • I swear to fucking God, I am making a list of advertisers so I can be sure NOT to buy their shit.

  • yayyy yt has stop the ads :D

  • Back in '92 when NBC was trying to decide whether Letterman or Leno should take over for Johnny, Ebersol supposedly backed Dave.

"And he was a guy, and he was always a guy, and still is a guy" LMAF

  • @mjbab73 Yes, I just read that book. Maybe out of gratitude, he doesn't go after Ebersol too much.

  • Team Dave!

  • I grew up watching Carson, Leno is a joke.

  • LETTERMAN IS THE MAN.

  • Not a Letterman fan but I havta give him props for this.

  • leno is dreadful conan is alright but letterman is the best (even though he's a little creepy) :D

  • I don't like Lettermanm but that made me laugh.

  • Letterman was funny, but that Dawn commercial at the end (does it show up everytime?) almost made me cry.

  • jay leno is a piece of shit.....conan will always be far better then leno. FUCK jay leno

  • super exerento dave kun san ! LOL arigato godaimassu - sugoi !

  • Dont know about other browsers, but im on chrome right now and its adblocking addon stops youtube adds! BTW this is not chrome add, im just saying :D

  • bullshit dont even have to check

  • Haha..that was just hilarious LOL!! Dave is the best.

  • "I'm really enjoying it." LOL Letterman. I love this sarcastic mofo.

  • these forced commercials before the video are lame and suck balls

  • use adblocker plus for firefox. no banners comericials or ads in the video

  • firefox +ad block

  • @Soar56 However unpleasent and obnoxious they may seem, keep in mind they are crucial to YouTube financial stability and prosperity

  • It wasn't so "crucial" six months ago.

  • @Soar56 get adblocker for google chrome

  • @Soar56 no the ads are fine . Nothing in life is free and youtube is just doing what any good businss does making money. no money no youtube

  • @Soar56 They also pay YouTube's bills. They also help keep YouTube free. They also help people like me, who work in broadcasting, earn a living.

  • @Soar56 The commercials pay so that you can continue watching youtube, dipshit.

  • @greg94327 LOL then how did youtube ever get started then DIPSHIT? Youtube is nothing like it used to be and will soon be replaced and I cant wait. I hate commercials and advertising so excuse me if im not some fucking drone like you airhead.

  • @Soar56 Nobody makes you watch it, dipshit.

  • @Soar56 if you have firefox download adblocker plus stops all those commercials

  • @Soar56 Intall firefox and then install ABP ad block

  • @Soar56 Especially since we're not going to buy those things any more than we would've before seeing (make that: waiting for the end of) the commercial.

  • The fact is there is a new generation of viewers. It is time for a change. Jay Leno is simply NOT FUNNY AT ALL...AT ALL!! to your average-aged viewer today. That was why they moved him to an earlier spot - for the old people who DO find his brand of mediocre comedy funny (?) Conan was/is the next generation, but unfortunately the network is run by old men who have no idea what's funny today - just like Jay Leno. (no offense to old people, my dad's one!)

  • @yragcom1 Wow. If you were old enough to remember it you would know that Leno had been guest hosting the tonight show for years when he tool over. At the end Carson was working one night a week. No one fired Conan. Conan refused to destroy the tonight show, something Leno is happy to do.

  • I am old enough to remember that, and Leno wasn't the only host. Brennan, Rivers, Rich Little, etc. Changing the time of the Tonight Show would not have made it any different than when it it changed when

  • business or no...who is a better host...and conan wins for me

  • Who gives a fuck about the ads?

If i need something I'll go find it myself, I'll never let some asshole ad tell me shit.

  • AHHHHHHHHHH! the adverts, i clicked off the vid by mistake now i have to watch another SHIT advert! lol youtube is going to shit

  • Letterman's Leno impression is kind of perfect.

  • Jay Leno's new theme song ~ The o'jays-back stabbers

  • yeah, but Leno gives great head--just ask the senior execs at NBC.

  • @HardyPengood HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @HardyPengood LOLOL! NBC needs Leno. I mean, who would pick up the soap for Zucker in the shower?

  • @HardyPengood That's because his chin tickles the balls.

  • @2112murphy again u would think hahaha

  • @2112murphy his agent bullied his way into the job watch the Biography on David Letterman

  • what bio are you talking about? i would like to see it.

  • from the biography channel

  • Ebersol!? When did you learn how to use the internets?

  • hahahahaha that's BS

  • Jay is not just a network lapdog. He's their star

He should have stepped out of late night TV to leave the slate clean for Conan.

When the ratings were down and they cancelled his show and NBC wanted to put him back on the Tonight Show he should have said, "No, I won't screw over Conan"

Despite Jay project a persona of innocence...it's kind of hard to believe considering the fact that he screwed over Letterman when Carson left and he is screwing over Conan now

    Sounds like a pattern

  • Yeah, never said the movie was good...thought it was interesting, but it;s always, like most films, one point of view. I think Dave was more hurt that he waited for this gig, and Jay walked in and managed to convinced the heads at NBC to pick him....or his agent did at least. Like I said, it's just crazy how things just repeat themselves like this....not exact, but pretty close.

I wonder how the media will react when he returns to the Tonight Show, especially after Conan's heartfelt farewell.

  • Letterman definitely isn't chicken-hearted or gutless, and he's very talented...but I always thought that his brand of sarcastic and condescending humor just doesn't bring in audiences the same way Carson could. Carson seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Leno and Conan do that better, but Leno does seem a bit too nice sometimes, as if he's hiding something.

  • Dave has no grudge folks and has given no evidence to the contrary. But what he does have is a little more insight then any of us on how the people involved carry themselves.

    Dave is King!

    Conan is the Man!

Jay just sunk the Tonight Show

  • 30 seconds of commercials for a 5 minute Letterman clip?! I want my old YouTube back!

  • lmao @ blue jean shirt!

  • Thing is, I know Dave has some grudge, but then again, him and Jay used to be great friends back on NBC, until Jay's agent convinced him to take the job when Leno wasn't really planning on taking it. He chose the show over friendship. She got into the picture and caused a lot of stuff to happen. That's a reason why Jay has no agent, because of what his old agent pulled. They revealed this in the Late Shift movie.

All in all, it's just pure craziness. Besides, everyone's joking about it. :)

  • Leno is sunk.

  • I know I'll probably get some negative ponts here, but what the heck...

Why not they both say "screw the networks" and start podcasting... Together.

    I'd subscribe.

The problem with the contracts, is that the networks OWN them. Even if Jay quit, he would have to wait several months before he could do anything with another network.

Now NBC owns him for 2 more years. I bet he's kicking himself for not walking the last time. Hindsight is 20/20. I know, it's just speculation.

  • LOL, "leave us alone, we're having fun!"

  • And can you explain what a "gay commercial" is?

  • i know

  • must buy bounty....

  • i dont think leno will ever get his rating back

  • Jay is the backstabber next door!!!!

  • lol

  • Hahaha Dave rules!

  • yeah, dave for the win

    your move jay

  • Yeah too bad under his watchful eye, NBC is in the red by a couple hundred million dollars for the Winter Olympics... not to mention that he nearly destroyed SNL in the 80s.

  • BRAVO, BRAVO that last joke was marvelous. Yes it's entertainment, Leno never restrained himself to make jokes about current events if they were political or in the entertainment industry so why should Mr Letterman not make just jokes about what's going on in entertainment. By I do wonder is there a chick from his staff under the desk when he has that big smile at the end. :3

  • Jay didnt get to leave on his terms, NBC wanted to have it's cake and eat it too, so they move him to 10p, Conan takes over The Tonight Show. NBC sees Leno tanking, uses a bs clause in Conan's deal to force his hand, Conan leaves, Jay's back, and Jeff Zucker is an absolute moron!!!!

  • jay could have still said no to the move back to 11:35 cause it was conan's show now...leno is a piece of garbage and i hope letterman kills him in the ratings..cant wait till conan is back on the air in another network

  • I agree. I was just pointing out the fact that NBC started this whole mess in the first place, just like last time.

  • Dave the cheater and intern - fu........r

  • That's what makes him awesome

  • Dave personal life has nothing to do with how good an entertainer he is. They had consentual sex and it's nobody's business.

  • Put you and Meagan fox in a room, and you'll eat your words

    lol

  • Dave is the Man. That's genius right there. Pure genius.

  • Dick Ebersol has always been just what his first name says. I've never thought he was a tactful guy. I hope NBC's late night stuff tanks and burns... Viva Coco and Dave!

  • With Jeff Zucker running the show, it will.

  • Please come over & steal my BOOTY like a swash buckling pirafe

  • "It's just fun." Awesome. I'm watching Letterman on March 1st. Screw Leno and NBC. Leno is the chicken-hearted and gutless. All he had to do was walk away.

  • Letterman - a true legend.. NO 1 in his time "NOW" hehe :) fuck Leno

  • The punchline is classic. Take *that*, Ebersol.

  • That was a long rant...but GREAT punchline. Dave Rules!

  • And that, my lil buddies... was fuckin funny!!!!!!! =D

  • this whole monologue drips of latenight yore. that is why its so fucking funny and why Dave is a legend.

  • I like to be cu5 in bed, pain turns me on :)

  • Yea so my new nickname 8s Princess Sexyness HeHeHe

  • Message from France to those dickheads from CBS. Give us Dave on France's Free (internet provider) TV chainnels! After Conan leaves NBC, what shell I look now on CNBC when I don't have CBS to watch one and only Dave? Greatings for Dave from capital of the Europe, Strasbourg.

  • Letterman and Conan are two of the funniest guys in comedy! They should be doing a show together! Both are genius!

  • If they ever went Radio .....They would be the best team on the market......

  • who's that woman with the nasal laugh?

  • @GreenTeaGringo Maybe you're thinking of Fran Drecsher?

  • Conan needs to go to a network that actually has viewers. Fox! NBC, ABC and CBS are dinosaurs. Hell, Give Conan a show on Fox Business Network and he will still beat PMSBC primetime.

  • that is sometinhg

  • there's not off position on the genius switch. You go DAVE!

  • CBS, perhaps you should view your audience before giving commercials about something we don't get in our country.

  • This is why I always loved Letterman over Leno. Letterman feels like someone cool to hang out with. Leno seems a little old.

  • Why are some people here attacking Dave in defense of Leno? Comedians poke fun at each other all the time. Grow up. It's all fun. LOL.

  • Not when it involves money.

  • The NBC executive, Dick Ebersol, that Dave is talking about is on The Colbert Report right now. He just got Colbert to wear the NBC shirt to the olympics. I'm really pissed Colbert is siding with the NBC executives. Will they get him to replace Conan????????????!

  • Sounds like Dick has got your number Dave.

  • while leno's helping car's dave will be fucking ugly chicks who work for him.

  • STOP THE COMMERICIALS!!!!!!!!!

  • Letterman is telling Leno jokes relentlessly cause he is distracting the public from his own controversies.

  • @zapstrung he's telling leno jokes relentlessly because leno stole the tonight show spot when letterman was up for it after carson. now that jay stole the tonight show again, i guess it brought back some memories

  • @recompa2 you're right. as moral compass for the nation, you're going to have to click on videos you clearly have no interest in watching and then inform the masses that you've deemed the person unemployable because they aren't perfect robots. lets clean up TV until all we have is dora the explorer to watch!

  • 2880 down 3 flights of stairs on hands, youtube hassel handstand

  • RealchatRadio I agree, no matter what Leno rating used to

be, many are lost and more will leave once Leno moves back to 10PM.

I am not sure he will be asked to leave but it might not be

    back at his #1 spot.

Look for Conan new show on another network,

    competing with Leno and Letterman.

  • All of Conan's Fans will watch Letterman until he gets another show....

  • and then continue to watch and support Dave!

  • of course...once you go **Dave**you can never go back !!!

  • Letterman at 11:30 followed by Conan at 12:30 would be the ideal situation :)

  • That wont happen as Craig works for Letterman

  • Nah, whenever David retires, David should give his show to Conan, unless Craig Ferguson is supposed to get it. Which I wonder because Craig is pretty edgy and does well in that 12:30 time slot.

  • @bobolob i think craig's show fits very well in a later time slot. iit gives him a lot of freedom and craig ends up taking some great risks with that freedom.

  • Yea. I think Conan would have been fine at the 11:30 slot had he been given more time and had he had better lead ins that stupid Jay Leno Show and that's why it would be interested if Conan was ever to replace Dave on CBS. Jay had the ER juggernaut and other great NBC programming in the 90s that helped him achieve his number 1 status. Which helped the Today show be successful too. Conan has had none of that support.

  • Letterman hasn't made a comment in 18 years,,,,,,that sound jealous.....Letterman was the only talk show to put Jay on with his TV Guide bit for years.....did you know that? Carson wouldn't

  • Without David Letterman Jay would never have had a successful platform all those years in the 80s. Free publicity. So yea, I agree.

  • Yea letterman, I'm sure you would do the rightous thing in Leno's position....

  • He did do the righteous thing in Leno's position...Back after Leno was originally given The Tonight Show network brass at NBC was getting a bit on edge about the ratings and basically offered Letterman the show after all. Letterman talked to Johnny Carson on the phone, by all accounts, and decided he'd look like too much of a prick in the public's eye if he threw Leno under a buss and stole the show from him. Instead he moved to CBS.

  • @switchbuckle I agree with you. They were actually going to have Dave wait until Jay's contract ran out and have him step up to the plate. Jay never said thank you and it just show how sleezy NBC and Jay really are. Dave didn't think he should have to wait and bolted as soon as he could, which he works in a much better place now and has a much more loyal audience and is loyal to his network and audience, maybe not his wife, but that's a different story. I'm sure Carson had some indiscretions too

  • anyone see the animation China made for this situation on

The Tonight Show last night ?

    Genius.

  • LOL who gives a dooddle about China?

  • Letterman's just a pile on scumbag. O'Brien doesn't really give a shit about his staff. Leno fooled me for a long time but he has a petty, cold, heart of stone. All you people hold one or the other in some kind of reverence. Get in touch with how your own needs are driving it---these three are pure scumbags at heart.

  • So you know them?

  • I would guess I know them on the same basis as every other pedestrian who would venture an opinion here. My judgement isn't air tight, I can only form one based on the evidence at hand. Let's agree that my conclusions are likely to be only slightly more or less accurate than anyone else who weighs in. Would you (a) like to call everyone else to task or (b) ask that the opinion page be left blank because no one of us really "knows" them?

  • @spagandtuna it's all show biz...no one really care who got cut or not...except their douchebag fans.

  • True that. I think more and more I'm going to abandon commercial tv, program everything I watch, use videos, DVDs. It's really sad and embarrasing to get caught up in this. Any positive traditions from network tv are just nostalgia, things for museums. At least I could say, "I knew when..."

  • Very genuine smile at the end by Letterman.
