  • macbook have no power

  • Vaio f series are better then macbook pro

can get better specs for 2grand cheaper

  • How do you do this?! I have the new MacBook Pro i7 2.66 and the 330m and Windows 7 in Bootcamp with things turned to around medium, and get worse framerates than the older less powerful MacBook Pro with better settings in this video.. I'm obviously doing something very wrong, could someone help.

  • wow, turning the dhaders to low and shadows off really makes the lighting look like crap. the detail still looks good, but it didn't look like sunset at all, which is the time of dy that encounter is set in. But it still col you got solid frame rates just to experience Crysis. It's not just eye candy. The gameplay is solid. great shooter.

  • if you put linux on it and run crysis you get around 32 fps maxed in the most intence battles

  • this is not high settings. this is somewhere between low and medium...

  • your retarded have you even played this game before?

  • @Obamagavemychildaids

You're the one who's retarded. Both shadow and shader settings are on low so the average settings would be something like medium. Also, why do you even think that MacBook Pro would run Crysis on high settings that well?? This guy doesn't even mention his sucky graphics card in the video description (which is 9600M btw).

  • wish the 13 inch had a better graphics chip I don't want a big laptop (15 and 17 inch is too big for me not heavy just big and annoying to carry around) !

  • People don't really get the argument about Macs and games. They aren't saying it's impossible to play games, but developers find it pointless to make games for Macs because they wouldn't get enough profit to make it worthwhile since you can't customize a Mac.

  • i got 90-100 fps on cs 1.6 on my laptop is that good?

  • 42-57 fps that is crazy for a laptop now i want to see a laptop pc with the same specs do that macbook pros own im going to buy one soon nice video 5 stars

  • He is cheating, low shadows and shaders. I payed 1400 bucks for a 17" Gateway laptop with a 2.26ghz core 2 duo, 4gb DDR3 ram, 1gb 9800m GTS that card rocks for mobile gaming. And no the gateway is not that thick its about 1.2inches tall (closed). I just dont understand why you buy a mac to do pc gaming on :/ seems rather dumb to me. lol but do what yall like. haha. besides i heard macs heat up like a bitch during gaming. Coming from a friend that owns one.

  • the heating was a problem with the previous macbooks and pros qside and i havent bought one yet im waiting till they get an i7 chip

  • @QSideProductions He's hardly cheating. Sure shaders on low, but it's running fucking Crysis. Besides, I think this is the pro without the video card. Yes they do get really hot. That is true.

  • @Naoki09

Dude, what is the point of buying a mac if you just boot xp through bootcamp? You can get a lot more muscle with a pc. (Cash:product) ratio

  • @QSideProductions Here is an example. I have a MacBook Pro that was $2,000. Not only can I game on it with my windows partition, I use the OS X (Depending on your preference, OS X can be a lot better than Windows for utility) side to do whatever else I want. Also, the MacBook Pro is hands down the most sturdy and reliable laptop for the price. The battery life cannot be beat either. It's really the best 2grand I've ever spent on anything. FYI I have a gaming PC I built myself too.

  • Comment removed

  • Why does everyone try to play games on laptops? Buy a Mac for non gaming related stuff, then get a Windows Desktop for gaming and such.

  • ur mom

  • im so glad i saved up for an alienware for the same price xD

  • uhh huh good luck with that

  • @nzcookiemonster

too bad yours is going to be clunky. ill let you touch my sleek one inch thick unibody alluminum macbook pro's glass screen if you ask real nicely :P jk jk

  • haha you noobs think macs are for gaming, when you are using a microsoft os to play games... FAIL

  • Fine give my comment a thumbs down but you guys are still retarded. :D

  • @QSideProductions

i want to say... very true. Macs are good for things like file converting, editing, and basic web design. but the thing is, they are not "meant" for gaming, and you have to go and download a torrent, or go buy a new OS just play fucking game! Although to the one who posted this vid, props, i have never been able to play Crysis, and i would play it on a Mac (that has been bootcamped) any day.

  • @Jdrew89 Thats retarded, you could've boughten a pc with better hardware for the same price and partitioned mac.

Better machine, same price, and you still get your shit OS

  • dude get a pc! with 2 way sli or 3 way sli graphics card setup!

  • Nice video dude. Do you have the 256mb or 512mb card?

  • u guys don't fuckin get it don't you ?

i have the older macbook pro with these spec :

    Core2Duo 2.5Ghz

    6Gb DDR2 Ram

    6Mb L2 Cache

    500Gb Caviar 7200

    Geforce 8600m GT 512MB GDDR3

And guess what? i can run any games on Windows Vista 32Bits At Very High Settings (but i have to turn VSync Off)

ALSO whatever Nvidia graphic card you have, fuckin update ur fuckin drivers right?

I Got 186.91 ForceWare Driver, and everything is perfect ! check laptopvideo2go

  • I don't think that's right... My brand new 15" 2.66GHz with the 256MB 9600M GT running Windows 7 x64 gets maybe 40FPS at 1440x900 with everything on low. At medium, I get less than 10FPS.

What resolution are you at? Can I see a screenshot of your graphics settings?

  • Are you running in DX10?

  • Yeah, that's probably why I'm getting a low frame rate.

  • tried to turn on the 2nd video card? my macbook pro has 2.66 ghz dual, 4gb ddr3, and 9400gt+9600gt in sli....it does about 30 fps on medium-high with shafdows low

  • Sorry, but it's impossible to turn on the 9400M and the 9600M GT at the same time. It just doesn't work that way. Your comment doesn't work.

  • all i tried was to help you with our problem. but i see my helps not appreciated.

    EDIT:

they work together....such as in cod4...when you turn the "dual video cards" option off, the performance is weak. but when you switch it to "on", it has about 40 fps more at my macbokpro.

  • No, it's IMPOSSIBLE, as in NOT

POSSIBLE for the two to work together. It just won't work. A quick Google search would explain why. For two video cards to work together, they have to be EXACTLY the same. It doesn't work. You're just seeing things.

  • WTF Dude!?

    NOOOO!!!

you can put a 3850 and a 3870 in crossfire and they will perform great! why should they put to video cards in it, when only one will do the deal?

  • Yeah, they'll work, but the 3870 will decrease its power to that of the 3850.

I'm sorry, but you're a fucking idiot. It's IMPOSSIBLE. Why? One reason is that the 9400M is completely shared and the 9600M GT is dedicated. In Windows or Linux only the 9600M GT will be active. This isn't hard to figure out. SLI is NOT possible on a MacBook Pro and will never be supported (on the current models).

  • yes it it, check the apple website

  • Who and what is this in reply to?

  • yes, you can run 9600gt and 9400m at the same time. this is a reply to you.

  • NO YOU CAN'T! It's impossible. You can't use both of them at the same time. It's either or. Go do your homework.

  • im sorry but your wrong buddy, do soem homework the mac website even states this, both the graphic cards arnt in sli, 9400m is in power save mode, 9600m is for high en tasks and they both run on the same memory 256mb , an sli card is 1 inch thichk not including casing around it im sorry but the mac pro will never fit sli untill they invest in thickness

  • You use to many shots put the gun on single shot. But over all nice vid

  • where can I buy games for my mac? The mac shop has like four.

  • did u not hear? hes on xp.

  • that is just going to add extra costs and effort...

  • Hey jimmypopjr have you ever had heat issues with your Mac?

  • Fact is, people are gonna talk shit on apple forever. They are just jealous or stupid idiots that can't afford one or just play pc games all day long.

  • Or we shit talk apple because we can find products better then it that have better hardware and the software is easy to toggle into OSX. Mac is just overpriced, and there are so many articles on Apple asking Microsoft to stop there commercials because its greatly impacting there market.

  • You know what? Honest to god, i'm done making comments on any of this shit. You're not gonna convince me that apple sucks and i'm not gonna convince you that microsoft sucks. I absolutely love my macbook and will continue to support apple because they make quality products and give great customer support. If they didn't, they wouldn't be around because they DO cost more, but they are EXCELLENT machines. I don't give a fuck what you microsoft fanboys believe.

  • Im not a microsoft fanboy. I have the new macbook pro, and i was dissappointed with it because everything i was able to do with it i could easy do 3 times better in Windows. Plus , an alienware machine with unibody and all around metal costs half the price of a macbook and tears it apart. And FFS why dont they have the removable battery.

  • They're not gamers machines - just a thought? Dont be disappointed, you have windows on it too right? So now you can do your stuff "3 times better"

  • English must be your second language.

  • lol... so you agree they're not gamers machines and that doing your "stuff 3 times better" makes no sense given they run Windows as well. If your "stuff" is games, why didn't u get an Alienware for half price?

erm, did I miss something or shall I retype in Chinese?

Or did you not check the specs before you bought it? I doubt being of unibody construction makes a difference to drivers, graphicscards and operating systems. I'm guessing though.

Removable battery... yeah, thats abit annoying.

  • Sorry , if i meant to say that i was able to game better i would have said gaming, not stuff. Durrrrr. The "stuff" i was referring to was audio recording and editing , video recording and editting , along with being able to easily compose DVDs and so on. And an Alienware is half the price of a macbook and out does it.

  • youd prefer a removeable battery with 3 or 4 hours less juice? i think not....

  • thank you!!!!!!!

  • i doubt it 'greatly impacting' their sales dude.... i really really doubt anyone cares about windows commercials

  • what up Jimmy, tell me man, playing crysis how much yours u can get ?

I wanna understand about the 7 hours like apple says...

  • You aren't gonna get 7 hours on ANY laptop battery running crysis. Those stats are based on low productivity without even having internet on.

  • I get about 3 hours playing tf2 on the 17 model

  • hey what's the res on?

  • What's this about macs cant game?

  • Hello, sorry if this sounds stupid but are the graphics better than xbox 360 on them settings that you just had?

    Thanks

  • Yes they are.

  • those frames are nice, but if i were you i would drop the textures to medium, and put the shaders on medium as well, because Crysis looks like shit with shaders on low.

  • Are you using a xbox 360 controller?

  • Great, so you're going to lug the 18" laptop around? For the price, the MacBook Pro may not be the best, but Apple's build quality is just outstanding. I guarantee you will not find anything that's better quality than an Apple computer. Look at how much they fit into the laptop and how thin it is.

  • where can i get that game

  • piratebay

  • double dongs R us

  • sweeeeet

  • THis Laptop Sucks for the price, no offence but you can get an P-6860 for 630 to 1k dollars and it gives you from 17 to 25 Fps with all In Very high Dx10 using Vista, i Have dual boot and i tried ur Configuration and it gives me around 60 Fps Vsync on , exept on some parts that it lowers to 49- 45

  • it may not be a fantastic value for the price from a gamer's perspective, however, it is for many others. I think it's cool that the new macbooks game playing capability was greatly increased compared to the last generation so that consumers have the option to still decently play games while having a macbook and all the applications and practicability that makes a mac a mac.

  • i agree, but also add the fact that apple's build quality is the best you'll ever find =)

  • i agree, and whoever buys a macbook pro most definately doesnt intend it for playing games only :P

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive :( i ordered on the 24th, its gonna arrive on the 4th :'(

  • Shaders are the most important thing in Crysis.

  • What resolution are you running it at?

  • Looks pathetic with low shaders

  • hmm yea.... looks lame without shaders.

  • Um...let me guess, Crysis?

  • lol i thought that he meant like a bad thing about the macbook

  • in this game shadows and shaders are the hardest things for computers to render. on a low end iMac (3GB ram, hd 2400xt 128MB, C2D 2GHz Windows Vista) This game runs fine maxed out (very high) , except shadows and shaders low. the moment I bring those up, 10fps! and DX 10 just about halves the frame rate of DX9. This game only starts to get pretty with shaders and shadows on high. medium and low are UGLY!.

  • guys hemight have upgraded it to 2.8ghz

  • whats better to run through boot camp on the same macbook pro model for games this dude has vista or xp??

and how well would the graphics card with 256mb memory take crysis

  • Oh man, big improvement over the previous gen. I still love my 8600 gt though :]

  • how much is your cpu? 2.5 ghz?

  • thats pretty cool a friend of mine tried to play crisis on a samsung r590 with a 2.4 intel centrino 2. 2gb of DDR3 1066 and the same 9x graphics card and it bogged his down at this setting a bit. there was some lag. io want to try this on my intel 2.6 MBP on 4 gb of ram to see how it fairs. it has an 8600m GPU which is essentailly the same chip as the 9600m. (G92 chip is really a renamed G80)

  • what is your graphic card memory? 512 or 256?

  • they are 512. it is a 9600m series i believe off the top of my head

  • thats cool and all. I mean I can only run on my laptop with 13 fps all low on 1024 x 768 but....

shaders are what make crysis (and most games) look good. When you drop that you lose most of your graphical bang. If I were you I would get shaders on medium and put some other things down a bit. I think overall it would end up looking better.

  • wow that runs really well i have a 07 macbook pro and i get around 20 fps on medium at not full resolution but it is more than plyable

  • Hey guys - I'll test with shaders to high and shadows to low, see how that holds. I know the game doesn't look as nice with shaders down, but it's a beautiful game either way. I'd rather play with a steady freamerate than with better settings. Obviously MBPs aren't designed to replace your gaming rig, so there will have to be some compromise.

  • lol when u put Shaders to low, the quality of everything else drops to low

  • I'm a mac owner and I have vids on here. I was impressed until you said you have the shadows and shaders on low. That defeats the purpose of this game. Have you tried updating your graphic card's drivers in XP? I really wanna get this laptop within the next couple of weeks... but now I'm debating. Also... what's the resolution you have it set at and is XP professional the only copy of XP that will default to the 9600 card or are their ways around that, or does XP Home support that too?

  • the macbook pro can handle crysis pretty good, the fraps just slows it down, so don't use fraps. I can run crysis warhead maxed out in 1200/800 resolution and shadow and shaders set in medium with vsync. it runs pretty well

  • Do you think the new macbook pro 2.4 GHZ 4GB

Would play crysis basically just as good as this?

  • Yep, not a huge difference

    You would be fine

  • Oh Cool :D!

I've just ordered my Macbook Pro now, pitty I have to wait untill Christmas to have it :(

I'm going to sell my Macbook (white last generation) so I can get my money back up :)!

    Thanks again! :D

  • Could you post the last stage or when it gets REALLY intense near the end game. Because it dips the FPS really low for my penyr system.

  • this there a big performance difference between this and the entry model?

  • man i gotta get my hands on one of those!

  • I recently chose the new MBP over a PC...but for the same $ as a MBP you could get a tricked out PC w/ Blu Ray player, HD resolution / HD Screen...really sick shit...but I realized I don't really need that stuff...only use computer for basic stuff and a little gaming...so I went with the MBP

  • u did the right thing bro!!!! =D pc sucks!! even though it has blue ray n hd its not worth it!!

  • sorry for the stupid question but i am deciding whether to get a pc or the new pro, idk but is the price worth it for the mac?

  • Mac's are always worth it.

  • Not a stupid question at all, since it's a lot of money.

To me macs offer everything in what I'm looking for in a computer. It really depends on what you want to do. Any video/photo work, macs are great. Gaming? Not so much, but that's changing. The new Macbook Pros are starting to hold their own, and it will only get better.

PCs have better third party support and allow you to really build your system the way you want it.

    good luck!

  • Just keep in mind, if you go with the mac, you still can have windows (bootcamp). It's the best of both worlds.

  • hi, could you tell me plz whether thats the 512mb 9600gt or the 256 9600gt? thanks.

  • 512mb 9600gt

  • CLB: 1024x768 is what it defaulted to. Native Res I guess?

Mark: I would say the bump to 2.8 isn't worth the extra cash if you're just thinking of gaming. As for Vista and DX10, it'll probably vary by game, but if you do go with Vista I would make sure you go with 4GB of memory.

  • Thanks Jimmy. Well I already have XP so may just stick with it for the moment. The 2.53 will be fine for all I do, I do a bit of video encoding but only films, I don't use Final Cut or anything. I do like less heat and better battery life which from the reviews I've read the 2.8 uses slightly more power. I will be playing lots of games though :) You're Crysis vid has seriously impressed me, the 2.53 can certainly handle it.

  • On which resolution dit you play?

  • Thanks for doing this. I will be getting the new Mac Book pro very soon also. Can you tell me though, is the 2.8ghz CPU worth it and also is it better to use Vista for DX10 graphics or should I stick with XP? Money is fine but if there's no difference then I would like to know. Thanks

  • YES it CAN run! But... it can run TETRIS too. LOL!!!!

  • Show me a laptop that can run Crysis on ultra...

  • Nice thanks for putting that up jimmy!
