For the record this day cost me my crankshaft. The engine spit the front main seal on the 3 hour drive back, and the crank pulley and front oil pump got worn to holy hell. I did a full rebuild and it came out much better. Also, the track was actually narrower than my car was long.
@Bo94DK Obviously the plan wasn't to destroy it, it just happened to unfortunately go that way. The engine was in perfect running condition before that, however with the 4.636 ring gear the cruising speed was about 4400 rpm, so it didn't exactly have the nicest 3 hour drive there and back.
Because the course was so narrow there was very little room for error at all, and the speeds were relatively low, which leaves 2nd gear for most of the course. high rpm, low airflow. oh well, it was fun.
