What a genuinely funny woman. I loved this special and I must have watched the entire special now a half-dozen times at least! One of the greatest standup performances on memory. Fantastic.
Laughing myself silly watching this on HBO right now .... lube rack ... "Maam bum everybody out with that story" .... Let's all of us go somewhere... 711 ... act like it's a complete coincidence..." Funny if all of us at Sunstar tried that.
I love the interaction with the audience. Remindes me of when Howie Mandel would do something similar. Goes to show you you can be funny without vulgarity..
This is one of her funniest routines, though it's not a "routine," is it? Out of all the comics today, she reigns supreme for me. So intelligent, such genius right off the cuff. No one compares to Paula P.!
@undeadking13 - Wow I think she just described a flashmob waaay before its time... and now she's on Twitter too! She could make this happen anywhere, anytime! Send her your work address, lol

intelligence is spelled with an "i", and as far as i m aware, there is no "sense" of intelligence in the whole english language. but no worries, i kind of expected i could speak your language better than you do...
I've been DYING to find clips from this special! THANK YOU Dan OLGB for posting this. Anyone know where I can find more. My favorite part was the end when she talks about her cats.
i remember this special. and a joke where she said ..dont u hate signs that say dont even think about parking here. she says im thinking about it call the cops ill tell them i was thinking of something else.. so corny but so funny

this is so stale! no wonder she had to had to go to rehab.
tie jokes and then she repeated "tore her face open on a lube rack" about 3 dozen times... wow paula you SUCK!!! I guess when you don't have any real material you just wing it
First of all, she didn't repeat the whole phrase "tore her face open on a lube rack" about 3 doz times, lol. She did, however, use the "lube rack" phrase several times in the manner most brilliant comics do, that is... to weave it in and out of other things in a way that binds other bits together with a running gag. Of course, it takes a sense of humor to understand that, so there's your where your error occurred :P
thank you for putting this up... it used to be on my favorites a long time ago and it got deleted - this was one of my favorite bits by her - she is hilarious in person as well!
An absolutely brilliant piece of improv. Paula handled this spontaneous audience participation like a master.

@lynfendleyfoster I believe the "routines" you are speaking of are called "sketches". :) Just thought I'd let you know.

I'm half way happy for you to always live in hope, and half in despair for your naive dreams. A conundrum, sir. Well done

My favorite line is when she is talking about Pop Tarts, and she says, "its called a Pop Tart, not a Stick Your Hand In And Get It Tart!"

she sucks, all she does is repeat what people say.
Massacrus 2 years ago
It is called playing off an audience, and she repeats what audience members say, as the rest of the audience cannot hear them.. moron...

The audience in the back probably can't hear what is said, so yeah, she does repeat.

You have to really enjoy what you do, as a comic, to be able to improvise THAT well.
You gotta love that about her!
