  • that was adorable!! such a good song(:

  • I love this! I didnt know LOTR waz ever made to a mucical.

  • kinda sounds like mumford and sons :)

  • I think the show would be more effective if it JUST focused on the Hobbits and not all the action and battles.

  • @thegmanofEAP no way it was an awesome show

  • I'd let Gollum bite my finger off to be able to see this live with such an amazing cast.

  • That is so cute. That's my favourite part of the books and the movie did a great job of it too, but this scene really sums up their loyalty and their need for one another on the journey.

  • I always lose it a little at "..holding my life in his hand.... True to the end, no finer friend."

  • I would like to see this musical too... but unfortunately it stopped running in 2008, and they haven't announced another run as of yet. =( And, to my knowledge, there are no full recordings of the show available...

  • Where can i find the whole recording?

  • @ManBig4 The song's called "Now and For Always" /watch?v=odazGzmf_7w

  • @Arangarta oh i meant the show.

  • I would like to see this whole musical sometime. Is it good?

  • @Ryanthe0man yeah, you have no idea how good it was they had to squeeze 3 films in 2 hours but they did it well with also a great sound track.

  • This song makes me cry. <3

  • does anyone know the chords for this?

  • @Blakter19 I'm looking aswell for chords.

  • Amazing song, but felt bad for Gollum!

  • Wow, this brings back memories of when I went to see this musical in Toronto. I forgot how much I enjoyed the production, until I heard these two singing just now.

  • Ohh...ohhh! Aww! That was lovely, and amazing, and...aw.

  • It says on the website that there is a 2011 world tour but I cant find anything on it :(

  • Their voices blend so well...

  • Saw the show back in 2007. Spectacular!

  • The end of this always makes me tear up a little bit.

  • This was beautiful. Do they have plans to bring it to broadway?

  • BLASPHEMY!!!! lol jk

  • Oh goodness can not stop singing the song now :D

  • @XGigglesX101

I'm having the same problem myself ;)

  • @asfaloth12 I ended up buying the song on itunes now I sing it even more now.

  • what's the name of this song anyway? is it on the cd? cuz i just ordered it from amazon and i luv it so much...

  • is there any chords for this song??

  • I hope this comes back to London for the World Tour, definately gonna see it this time

  • "True to the end, no finer friend..." :)

  • This is so lovely! I want to see it!

  • I hate it when people say frodo and Sam are gay.... They are best friends, ok? But this vid is really cute... Stout hearted Sam :)

  • @Phantomluvr23 Two men can be bros and not be gay. Do these douches have friends? Oh wait; if they can't f@#$ it, its not worth there time.

  • I saw the London show, it was absolutely brilliant! I can't believe they stopped it... The whole atmosphere of the show was so great, and there were so many great features... I own the soundtrack.

  • @LittleVideosBySean

Where did you find the soundtrack?

  • @AskAgainTomorrow It's been a wee while buuuut... I think I got it from amazon (uk) which there are still 12 copies on! Hope that helps

  • @LittleVideosBySean Cool, thanks! I've tried looking everywhere but, I guess I missed amazon! Oops.

  • @AskAgainTomorrow It is a really awesome CD so I hope you find and enjoy it :D

  • @LittleVideosBySean Thanks!

  • This is the only song I really, really like and I wouldn't find TOO random if they had actually done this in the movie. 8D

  • SLASH lol

  • Want to see it but it goes to short in london before i get there!

  • This is so awesome.

  • Thumbs up if you want the songs on Spotify!

  • Frody (Right) and Samwise (Left)

  • This is just plain adorable. Are these songs in the book? :)

  • lolololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol......... i wanna see this musical now...... XD

  • This play was so uplifting and I would give ANYTHING to see it again, it was one of the greatest experiences of my lifee ♥ so amazing ♥

  • I saw this musical in London (2 years ago) and it was excellent. In fact, it's THE best show I've ever seen.

Coming from me, that's a high praise. I'm usually very critical about things and I had serious doubts about LOTR, too. So imagine my surprise when I found myself loving the show.

  • Plum cake "if I heard it right", is the best!:D:D I really want to see it live or on DVD...

  • Is that Gollum singing at the end because it sounds like him.

  • @Sluggerboy88 I think so.

  • this is such a cute song!!!

I want to see this musical so badly!!! It better come to the US.

Is it still going on the world tour in 2011?

  • I wish I could have seen the show. Whoever has seen it could you pleas give some detail on what Shelob and the Balrog looked like? I heare they were impresive.

  • Very very beautiful video and song...Sam and Frodo were greatest friends...=) Now and for always

  • holy shit i never knew that lotr was adapted as a musical! i wish i could've seen it!

  • why are you talking in the past? its not avaible anymore?

  • @slashthebestone i know it's coming back in 2011 but not in the u.s. :(

  • oooh..too bad! so where is it going to be?

  • @slashthebestone well i actually just looked it up online and it said a world tour but it only mentioned a few places so i don't really know exactly i guess we'll have to wait and see.

  • oooh i see! i wonder if it will come to Brazil..but anyway thanks for the info mate!

  • @slashthebestone not a problem!

  • I love this song, it is AMAZING!!!!

  • is there any sheet music for this show?

  • I think that it's cool that the actors found this scene as funny as I did!

  • Does the DVD show the musical or just certain scenes?

  • I saw this musical some time ago. AMAZING!

  • I like this version so much better than the one they've put on the CD. On the CD, Sam actually joins in again for the final chorus, even though he's asleep. So silly...

  • aww this is so sweet :)

  • Very cool Mate!! Thanks for showing!

Watch out my new video ^^

  • <3<3<3<3<3 I need to get this soundtrack (hopefully there is one. And maybe a DVD release of this play...) ?

  • Huge fan of the book, not as much of the play, but I will always love this scene in any medium, book, movie or play. Very sweet.

  • This is really good ^^

  • I've only seen a few short snippets of this musical. It sounds and looks so awesome and amazing! I love these two! I only wish that they would bring this musical to America. There are tons of LOTR fans here in the states!! lol :)

  • The play wasn't all that great... The scenes where the hobbits were the main focus were fantastic, everything else was pretty lame. The acting of the non hobbit characters was dreadful.... Though I have to admit, Shealub impressed me..

  • they've got great voices. and i don't say something in this way often!

  • Its a west country accent from England

  • I didn't talk about the accent, i did talk aboout the voices when they sang!

    My english is terribly/-e

  • sorry mis understood you. now i read back you never did talk about accent. you are right. great voices.

  • but u 2! i love english accents... and scottish is great too, isn't it?

  • its acctually really pretty

  • Indeed!

  • I really liked Frodo's song <3

This made me love them even more ;o Wich is sick, couse I already love them too much 8)

  • I'm really impressed with the cast in this. They all sing exceptionally well. And, although they seem to be mimicking the movie voices a little, they're still unique. :3

  • it lookes really good but i dont like how they look i perfer saun astin and elijah u cant get better than them

  • but what's with their voices?i think peter howesounds a little bit like sean astin, and elijah even can sing, i know but in what way?

he can sing in some childish voice what sounds very high and funny but this song is to deep (or low or whatever, my enlish is not so well, that i know everything!^^). and yes you're right, that's what my sister had even told me. but you know my opinion, so... you can answer to my answer! or you can send me a message to talk about this topic and than, !looking!

  • is this on dvd?

  • ohh! Es ist einfach nur wunderbar!!

  • this is so awesome i wish i could see it

  • Chris: I love it.

  • FRODOSing me a tale of the bravest of them all

    Comrade and guide

    At my side

    Stout-hearted Sam

    Wouldnt let me fall

Holding my life in his hand

    True to the end

    No finer friend

    Now and for always.

  • @maxpowerr11 best part of the song it makes me smile and tear up

  • SAM Sing me a story of Frodo and the ring, Fearless and bold. FRODO Tired and cold SAM Sword at his side, and elf blade called Sting. Crossing a miserable land. And wouldn't retreat or meet defeat, now and for always. BOTH Sit by the firelight's glow, tell us an old tale we know. Tell of adventure strange and rare, never to change ever to share. Stories we tell will cast their spell, now and for always...
  • A hobbit tale! :)

  • went to see this. its awesome!!!

  • i wish this went to america

  • I know really!!!!!

  • What is the name of this song?

  • now and for always

  • search for "LOTR--Now and for Always" on youtube, a good vertion (audio only)

  • Now And For Always.

  • This is so adorable! I like the hobbits way better in the musical, especially Frodo. I love the little laugh Sam has in here. The Harmony is so gorgeous too.

  • This is a gorgeous song!! The harmonies are luuuuuuuuuuush!!

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Peter, really nice guy!!!

  • This song secretly makes me really happy inside. :3

  • This makes me want to murder someone. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Seen the London Production. Music and Set was great but was quite disapponted by the intonation at some point. All in all it was o.k. To be fair, it is quite hard to get the whole story into 2 hrs on stage. :-)

  • I like it.

  • I think this was playing when I was in London in January 2008. My group went to see STOMP instead, and I was really disappointed that we didn't go see this! Now I'm sad...

  • I get a little teary-eyed when Frodo starts singing

about how great a friend Sam is.

  • sory to say, but I liked this Frodo better than in the movies^^

  • Comment removed

  • It almost moves me to tears

  • Such a touching story really, frodo and sam, two friends against insurmountable odds, pushed to the very limits both physically and mentally, they aren't the best fighters, they aren't the strongest minds in the lands, but they are sure going to try.

  • yeah i went to london from manchester to watch this for my birthday present off my friend, never forget it, j ust mint!!

  • who is singing the highest part?

  • the guy playing sam (he sings the first verse)

  • i love it i saw it live in london its amazing theire no words to describe how good it was

  • cool - i like it!

  • wow there good wow they can sing a high and low voice wow there good!!!

  • Oh my God! Hobbit musical! They're really is a hobbit musical! Look out Andrew Lloyd Webber, the dorks have something else to listen to. Is it me.....or does it seem like Sam's doing his best Sean Astin impression?

  • i really enjoy this song. a lot. it's really happy. :)

  • The ending of this always makes me tear up a bit.

  • Where is the rest of this song?

    the beginning?

  • Does anyone know where I can find the next scene, with the Gollum/Smeagol argument? It used to come up every time I looked at these videos, and now I can't seem to find it anywhere. If someone has it, or knows where it is, that would be greatly appreciated.

Lord, I wanted to see this show... So beautiful

  • Btw, Can someone upload the lyrics?

  • Sit by the firelight's glow

Tell us an old tale we know

Tell of adventures strange and rare

Never to change, ever to share

    Stories we tell

    Will cast their spell

    Now and for always

Sorry, it's the only part I can understand clearly ^^'''

  • Yes no i mean, this song starts with: Sing me a story of heroes of the shire.

So this video is just a part of it.

  • I listened to the whole song and this line is the beginning^^ so there are no parts missing

  • aahh, sorry... Now I know what you mean. yeah, this part is missing... I think they had to cut it because of the time... ^^

  • Nah.. You think?

The full saong is like.. 4 minutes.. :s

    Strange.

  • maybe this scene is also cut^^ I mean this crossing when Sam falls asleep

  • Yes, ofcourse, this scene is awsome,

I just would like to see the first part,

because i havent seen the musical. :(

  • maybe we're lucky and someone will upload it <3 I also want to see it ^-^

  • haha i hope soooo

  • This is from Toronto and is a different version of the song entirely.

I prefer it, actually. One of the few things I like better from Toronto, but I like not having the incessant guitar strumming underneath the song.

  • So, in the Toronto they dont.. sing the first part i know?

  • God i wish i could see this musical.

Issnt this one full on youtube?

  • I don't like musicals, but I'd have liked to see this one. As long as it wasn't a pantomime and made fun of it. :)

  • Have been in london to see it. Recommended to everyone. to bad they stopped it, cause it was a great musical!

  • I heard it's going to tour again in more countries

  • probably never Portugal :(

  • nor the philippines

  • It hurts, doesnt it?

  • I heard it's going to tour again in more countries

  • its supposed to tour the the eastern hemisphere, and open in Germany

  • Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to see this. hopefully I will when it tours to Australia and New Zealand. Anyway I was wondering, the scene with Shelob the spider and when Sam thinks Frodo's dead, what was that like on stage? Was it a really emotional part like in the original?

Thanks very much to anyone who replies ^_^

  • In the London version, Shelob isn't really able to poison Frodo because of the mithril coat, but she does leave him winded. Sam thinks he's dead when he first comes in, and after he fights Shelob off, he goes to Frodo and discovers that he's alive.

In the Toronto version (which I didn't see), Shelob poisons Frodo, and the orcs come to take him away. The orcs have also captured Gollum, and Gollum tells Sam that Frodo isn't dead. Sam chops off an orc's head and saves Frodo.

  • Also, In the London version, Sam says "Don't go where I can't follow," but he says it because Frodo starts acting delirious and doesn't seem to know where he is, and not because he's unconscious. They change the context of the line from the book, but it still works well. Both Peter Howe and James Loye did an amazing job with this scene.

  • Thanks very much for your reply :)

That's really interesting how they changed it for the London and Toronto versions. The two versions must be quite different!

I never would've imagined that line of Sam's being used in the context the London version used it in lol, but I imagine it would have just as much of an emotional impact.

Frodo starts to act delirious - is that to say, he was laughing and talking nonsense and things like that? (That's usually what I think of when I think "delirious").

  • i really think the movie and play is good, but i can just see them being gay somehow of another..

  • Saw this play 2 times this song stays with me when im feeling down, amazing play the best musical, amazing song

  • I love this song, it just makes me smile everytime I hear it, its such a feel good song wen ur in the audience

  • Ive seen this few months ago, it was magical...this song just keeps playing in my mind...love it!!!

  • Saw this at christmas last year, Laura Michelle Kelly as Galadriel was just astounding. Most spectacular piece of theatre Ive ever seen

  • There is talk about a world tour with the musical...but I doubt the same actors are in it again.

Anyway, LOVE this song and when I saw the performance in London they were amazing!!!

  • Yep, its going on tour hopefully, its currently being translated into German so it can go there from around an esitimated date of 2009 december but it's most likely gonna change

  • i hope they do do it again. I'll be first in line. So annoyed I missed out first time!

  • As am I.

  • This harmony is so brilliant.

I'm so jealous of all those who saw this Lord of the Rings musical.

I want to see it so badly.

  • Me too;-)

  • Seen this play twice got the CD and just cant stop listning to it :) Amazing work tbh

  • I saw this in its first run in Cananda and it was so amazing. Everything from the set to the characters were so perfict. I'd kill to see it again. I think this was my favorite song, Gollum and Sam were just amazing, everyone was really.

  • I am so jealous.

    I want to see it.

Do you think they'll come back?

  • I sure hope so. I think it all depends on how well they do in London. If they do come back its likely that it won't be all the same cast.

I would love to see it again though.

  • i thought they finished in london? french and saunders have their theatre now :(

  • I love this! It captures the feeling of several different scenes from the Two Towers and The Return of the King...

    Sam is my hero!

  • I'm so glad I saw this twice it was truly spectacular!!!!!!!!! Sam was my favourite character.
