  • is that woman his wife?

  • Damn this is killing me.

  • 华人的骄傲!

  • JOW?? how can you make the same mistake twice..once in title and once in the description??

  • LOL "Second, there's no election in China". That and the bit about the environment made me laugh so hard.

  • 呵呵,很搞笑,会冷幽默的国人太少了

  • So now, what do you say ?

  • Forgot his last name, the guy who titled the video doesnt even know how to spell Joe. Twice. Once on the title and one in the description. Also, Huang=Wang since his last name can sound a bit different in different dialects.

  • huang=wong

  • 黄西,加油!

  • haha! he holds his chopsticks like i do! the wrong way!!

  • i tried eating doritos with chopsticks once...pretty hard stuff

  • im sold- count my vote joe

  • this guy is so sexual

  • I would bang some sense into Julie Bain.

  • Why do they say Wong when it's Huang?

  • Because the inventors of pinyin didn't map to English "properly" 50 years ago.

It wasn't their intent, but with hindsight, it would have been the way to go. The Chinese gov should probably modify pinyin to more closely align with English for the future.

  • Nah it's better for pinyin to stay as it is

  • Maybe.

I'm not convinced of that, but it's not a burning issue either. There are about 10 or so finals that, looking back with 20/20 hindsight, could have been chosen "better." ang/eng/ong just one example.

Then again, it wasn't created to match up directly with English, and it'd be awfully hard to change now. But logically there are some unoptimized mappings. I don't see how anyone could deny that.

  • because huang sounds like wang which is another word for penis. no jk i have no idea lol

  • @ChineseCommando Wong is Cantonese pronunciation. It's probably chosen as a stage name so people can say it more easily.

  • Why do they say Wang and not Wong? They ARE two entirely different pinyin pronunciations... you wouldn't write Wong and say Wang. Anyways, he is funny. Nice and deadpan.

  • Actually, in Chinese, Wang is pronounced the way people say "Wong" in America, and his name is Joe Huang.

  • I had many Chinese profs like him, who had similar talent for deadpans in lectures. We should encourage more of them into comedy!

  • its Joe, lol....

  • Socially Liberal and Economically Conservative. XD Liberal-Conservative.

  • Lol is he making fun of George Bush? Cuz that economy plan was exactly what Bush did.

  • i think joe knows how to create humor that can tickle everyone. when he was talking about with the books, he held up unrelated books such as sci fi or organic chem (ty beez). this subtle humor fits many people.

his accent alrady makes some ppl laff....

and the first part where he takes off his glasses and then says solemnly, "they had to squeeze me" thats an entire diff branch of humor.

  • i dont find this funny... is it because i am asian?

  • I'm asian too, for me, i think it's funny b/c he plays on his FOB'iness a lot of times, and is very aware of American humor and where he stands as a Chinese immigrant and he pokes fun at all those roles and conventions. Or maybe its just ont your style. Pc out!

  • i agree. He has those typical asian immigrant mannerisms and that accent, but a lot of his jokes are word play type things ... with english. i think he done good for us. haha better than that william hung anyway. LOL

  • its pretty cool

he's asain so he's smart lol

but he knows what kind of humor americains like and uses his accent to his advantage, all the practicallity of his plans etc. etc.

    love the food thing

  • He's Irish.

  • spelling and writing is that important, as long as we knew who he is, both my first and last name only 3 letters, hardly people could pronounce them right, sometime people can't even write them correctly, so I changed my name to racecar.

    tribute this to Dr. Wang.

  • I think that's a Shanghai accent he has?

Wang is pronounced Wong (which shows you Wade-Giles is a stupid spelling system).

  • Isn't Wang pinyin? Also it's Romanization, not Anglicization. It's meant for Chinese speakers only, with its own distinct pronunciation.

I think there should be a different system for Anglicization, since many people with pinyin (mainland) and zhuyin(Taiwan) names get mispronounced all the time.

  • he's got my vote, lol

  • this one is not funny at all

  • Just noticed, the first book he looks at is Science Fiction, the second is Organic Chem! Hahaha....

  • LOL

    liberal conserative

  • liberal conservative

  • spelled joe wrong

    funny guy

  • It's pronounced the same either way. He probably changed the spelling to Wong because it's a better stage name and easier for audiences here to read.

  • Huang = Mandarin, wong = cantonese or more common spelling, Wang is also Mandarin, but huang and wang are different characters even tho they're both called "wong" in cantonese. confusing? :)

  • get a life!

  • LOL

  • LOL

  • LOL, I don't like the word "moron" in my platform.

  • LOL
