@XRISTAR5 ... I own one of these, they are cheap, sound great, will never break!... I use an RP255 with it, gives me more flexibility and options than the newer Mustang... just my own personal opinion
@Zepp3849 You buy this amp for the clean tones.. its a fender. It will take pedals no sweat. I own this amp.. its a sturdy little amp. It will take a boss metal zone without blinking..
People always seem to complain about this amp but it's actually super great sounding, especially for it's price. Try cranking the Treble, Middle and Bass knobs, keeping very low reverb (about 2) and mid gain (4.5-5.5) and you get a crazy tone for AC/DC style stuff, and i suggest you get a booster/distortion pedal and put it on the same settings above and it'll sound great! I'm sure you won't have hard time getting a good clean sound out of this amp.
hey so i was thinking about buying one of these and using it and my spider 3 75 watt. I wanted to have the ability to use the line 6 on all distorted settings and switch to this amp for cleans only. Good idea?
@3301pepe depends on what kinda sound you want. I have a line 6 spider, and I can't get a good rock tone out of it at all, just metal tones. This amp is good for rock tones, but not for metal, as the line 6 is good for metal tones, not rock.
@3301pepe i have this amp, the distortion is acually pretty bad... theres no nois reduction so it rings like crazy... but i have a vox tonelab does the job well. So if you pair it with some middle man its better. but i cant say wich is better. For heavy metal this is not a great amp, but on clean its tremendous.
Been reading a lot about people buying this amp and swapping the stock cone for an Eminence Ragin' Cajun ($65) and seriously raving about the improvement. An old guitar buddy of mine (whose opinion I've learned to trust) endorsed the idea so I ordered a 25R and RC cone a few days ago.
I'd be interested in hearing how it turns out. The speaker in my Blackstar just blew and I'm thinking of just trading it in as is toward one of these. Call me crazy, but I just don't feel like ordering another speaker, and I already have a cajun here at my apartment. Can't put it in the blackstar, though, cuz it's an 8 ohm. The Blackstar's 16 ohms.
The results are pretty good. Volume level 4 is too loud for practice but the tone stays clean at that level. I've never had any use for Fender's built-in distortion and the 25R is more of the same. I'm having only one small problem: the low end notes (E thru Ab) create a "buzz/rattle" that I can't locate. This goes away as I turn the volume down. I may need to remove/reinstall the speaker.
Auction? Come on dude! It's a hundred dollar amp. Go out and get a new one with full warranty and 30 day money back policy that most large chains offer. Great practice amp for the money.
im not gonna lie i dont like the distortion channel on this amp too much, but take my advice people: play on the clean channel on the frontman and turn the volume all the way up to 10 and set the bass and middle knobs somewhere around 9 or 10 and pop the treble somewhere around 7 or 8, then turn your tone knobs on the guitar down to around the 4 5 or 6 range and use the volume control to get less or more gain to the amp, i promise you will like what sound comes out of it
i have this amp..its a good practice amp, the gain sound kinda....dirty..would sound great with gibson dirty finger pickups, but if youre looking for a great sounding amp with clearer sound and over great tone and control, the VOX vt15 has you covered.
hey dude which song were you playing int he very start..is it an intro tosome song? sounded very familiar..and yeah i liked your tone...I am confused between this amp and a Spider Jam..since i dont do gigging so i dont have high requirments
Great amp. With a pedal this amp is amazing. It's perfect for small areas and single playing. If you're looking to buy an affordible amp that's worth every cent I highly recomend this. Works great in my bedroom with my Fender Strat.
I bought this amp a month ago. Perfect for the basement/bedroom jammer. For 99.00 bucks its a steal. Plays silky smooth as a blues amp, but put some pedals in front..wammo baby it can shred. Solid state amps have come a long way since I started playing. Its built quite solid. I did swap out the speaker with an eminence ragin cajun. Made it even better.. Its a great buy!
i have this amp. and i own a PRS MIRA guitar. the amp sounds great clean when you are finger picking but i still cant get that clean quality sound when strumming open chords. with metal core pedal the amp sounds like a monster.
I played that amp this Sunday at Guitar Center. It gets some really awesome tone, and the "Marshall" distortion
is killer.....:-) I actually thought we were playing through the 50watt mg50fx next to us,and then realized the sound was coming out of the 15 watter!!! Amazing!
depends on what you play... solid state will save you BIG BUCKS, nuff to get you a better AX... donnay buy into the TUBE is better chit...of course a Fender princeton is GOD like, but then so are Vickeys Secrets Models, BUT, we arent all Rich..so get a BETTER AX and a Solid state amp
maybe in a small room like a cafe or something. that's my problem becuase I have one big bass amp that gets really loud really fast. but I just have a little practice amp which can't play over anything for my guitar. so I need something small but big. haha I'm look at 212r
Im gonna buy this amp I heard that the Distortion on Fender Amp R they sound bad but from this video it doesnt sound too bad Besides it also depends on your guitar
I heard two songs that sounded like Tenacious D songs XP
They sounded like Malibu Nights and Wonderboy.
Anyway. This is an amp I've been looking into buying. It looks and sounds great. So I know my purchase will be well worth it. Thanks for this video. Also, great playing man.
do you recomend this one to me...ive been playing guitar for about 5 months and im going to buy an electric but i need an amp...do you recomend this one?
No matter what solid-state amp you buy, the distortion will never be up to par. My recommendation is either buy a TS-9 overdrive pedal to put in front of the clean channel, or surf your local Craigslist for an inexpensive tube amp. Some lesser known models can be easily under 200 bucks.
not always. not to kick a dead horse, but dimebag used solid state exclusively. sure it'll take some getting used to if you're switching from tubes. especially if you're talking about a little 15 watt practice amp...what do you really expect? lol
@UninvitedSoul i rather you get a better amp.. its okay but its too muddy..
just look for a good tube amp.. like a peavey valveking.. in the end your going to want a better amp so dont waste money on a cheap amp.. look for used amps they are just as good as a new one just test it out first.
it sounds a little distorted but not alot cuz there arnt pickups so it wont get the vibrations from the string. if u use a pocket pod then ull get a pretty good distortion
The Marshall distortion better conceals inconsistent playing but the Fender allows more expression and defined punch. If you have a Distortion pedal that is good for the Metalish noisy hide playing thing get the Fender, clean is way better tooand the spring reverb to me is preferable. If you have the other kind of pedal OD like Tube Screamer or Boss OD series already maybe get the Marshall. But I still would go the Fender 25r. I was miking one on real gigs and loving it in my monitor.
Hey my frontman was great until recently it starts crakclin at 3! Ususally it does this near 5 or 6 but its doing it at 3...is there a solution to this or am i out another couple hundred bucks for an amp?
Anyone who doesn't know that this 25R is a killer amp for the price doesn't know amps. Line 6 is a healthy alternative NOT (piece of junk--you'll get it when it craps out). This demo really shows what it will do. I sold one but regret it. I have a Twin Reverb now, but this 25r was a great practice amp for the price. Your demo is great-you have real talent. The only thing that would sound different thru my TR would be volume! Great job demonstrating this amp. If you wanna sell it, contact me!
