I have a Hammond C3 w/ a 122, but the problem w/ my Leslie is that sometime it will run on both slow and fast speed. Other times I will switch it to fast and it will not go back to slow until you move the cabinet or turn it off. Do you have any suggestions on what could be causing this?
Oh boy, the "crispy burrito" .0047's. Organgrinder010 helped me recap my 31H amp last year, and it was full of those @*&% things. The difference in sound afterward was like night and day.
Yeah, you wouldn't think...but they look like paper "black beauties" to me. They're not expensive to replace so I will replace them just to be sure while we have the amp in for repair.
I'll try and make sure I do! On the last service call I forgot the camera when we replaced the horn driver on the Leslie so I didn't get a completed repair video.
Step 1: switch to slow, tap the screw head on top of the amp, which holds the relay. This may loosen it. If not, Step 2: unplug the slow motor AC plug, and try it with an extension cord. If it runs, your problem is obviously elsewhere.
loved the 15 sec. clip of henry vacuuming <3 <3

Its kind of intereting, the Leslies don't seem to hold up as well as the Hammonds themselves.

Hmmm, I never thought I would see a paper cap in a 1976 tube amp. By then it would all be mylar.

Yeah, I'd love to see the end result. I take it the relay was the culprit for the lack of slow speed?

We found that the problem indeed was the bad relay...a brand new relay and new capacitors solved this problem.
