this is just one of movies that we just can't take seriously. from a critical view, it's pretty bad, but it did do well staying within the guidelines of the original Flintstones. btw, John Goodman as Fred? Win.

I agree with NC, I don't like the flintstones either. A couple traits I especially don't like about the show are the animation and Fred's pet dinosaur that acts like a dog, he is so annoying.

Plus one thing that annoyed me a lot about the movie was casting Rosie O'Donnell as Betty, wtf.

I actually found it surprising when the critic said he didn't like the flintstones. I use to watch the show all the time as a kid. 9:25 - y'know, despite the movie, John Goodman is amazing. He exaggerates at all the right times, shows all the right moods, and he's practically made for the role. All this despite the bad lines he was given. He's the only watchable thing here.

Well. Seth did use to work for Hanna-Barrera, and I find his cartoons aimed towards children more funny than his "adult" cartoons, since they actually try to tell jokes as opposed to just references or annoying cut away gags.

@Frozone470 Just because a movie is intended for children doesn't particularly mean it has to be done lazily and can't appeal to adults at all. Just look at Pixar movies like UP and Toy Story - the target audience is clearly for children, but the movies are humorous and entertaining to adults as well. This is seen in a lot of quality children's films - most recently the Muppets movies, Tintin, and Hugo. Just because it's a childrens' film doesn't mean it has to be terrible to everyone but kids.

I'm kinda with Critic on this. I'm semi-indifferent to the Flintstones TV show (if it's the only thing on I'll watch it without complaining), but I hate this movie. It's just...wrong in just about every way possible.
