  • Announcers kept stuttering lol

  • ..annd the commentators are reporting from a Hallway..lol

  • That wasn't a flip he just wen't airboburne lol

  • Glad he's okay.

  • nice hang time !!

  • Unbelievable!!!!!

  • 04! cool number!!

  • RIP Jim McKay

  • it pisses me off to see modern day drivers get in little fender benders and bitch about safety and they have all there 5000 dollar seats and full face helmets. and these guys are like du

  • haha so true....like whats with all this "get rid of Superspeedway/Restrictor plates" stuff? Kyle Busch's crash, sure it was big, but it was nothing like this....

  • @Avenged1337

when do they do this? actually they're very thankful for the safety in during interviews afterwards...

  • Was this coming to the checkerd flag or after he had taken the checkerd flag?

  • Dumbass uses the word retarded. Retarded is a natural handicap, not someone who is just plain stupid like this dunce e521soediv. Jim McKay was a great announcer... What great accomplishments has e521soediv made????

  • I really wish the guy who posted this video would have given proper credit. This video was originally posted by Wildturnip at the TBK Fameflame forums.

The air that Finney got in the accident was pretty scary. He's lucky to have survived that impact.

  • when people say credit what do they mean by "credit" is wildturnip from ABC SPORTS or something?

  • no, no, no. wildturnip was the one that captured the video.

  • what Exactly do you mean by capture youre saying he was the cameraman who shot this footage joeythehdk?

  • no, that's not what I meant.

He had a copy of the accident on video, "captured" it onto a video file, and shared it for us on the internet, or something like that.

  • oh ok

  • aw man you hate to see that. coming to the line and that happens.

  • He didn't black out. Phil Finney is my uncle. I was at the race but I was only 3 years old. The final lap of the race somehow the air flow foiled under the chassis and he lost traction as well as control of the car, thus he ended up hitting the infield wall near the entrance of Pit Road. I would like to thank whomever put this video on Youtube. I though I would never see this video again. We had a copy of it but it was lost during a flood.

  • Yeah, I looked at slow motion footage with no letters covering the crash, and you can see air get under the car right before he hits the wall.

  • hey dummy the reason the announcer soudns like tha the was inside a studio and that is jim mcay

  • The Broadcaster is Jim McKay reporting.

  • Wow! That was some impact, and all before SAFER barriers, HANS devices, good seats, etc. I'd like to see some more of this race-the last @ Daytona with the "big" cars. & Was Jim McKay in an empty warehouse while announcing this race?

  • fist comment!

how was he going that fast when the race was over?...or had he not finished yet?

  • I was at this race and had a good view of the accident (word at the time was he blacked out from the heat). He was coming to take the checkered flag. He was well behind the leaders -- this is why " ... he going that fast when the race was over ... ... "
