Stone fish's are not that dangerous. You can easily pick them up, just don't step on them to try to pet them on the back lol xD

With that said.. I wouldnt touch that tank with a 50 foot pole.

I once read that they have venomous spines in their backs that they will extend into your foot if stepped on.

This is not the real stone fish, it is called "false stonefish"; it's velenous too but a little less than the stonefish. You can recognize it because false stone fish is brown and mouth is horizontal, instead the stonefish is dark pink and mouth is vertical oriented!

I have three lions in my 100 gallon tank but really cannot see the appeal of a stonefish. I have been spined by my lions and it hurts badly enough. The venom in a stonefish is FAR MORE POTENT than any lion. Not to mention they are pretty damn ugly fish! I don't think there is a more beautiful marine fish for the aquarium then a black or red volatan lion.

i have one called Kilky and one called Larry and they always try to kill each other so we put Kilky in a different tank coz larry tries to sting you even if you put food in!

Both Stonefish and Lionfish are in the same family known as "scorpionfish" or Scorpaenidae. But lions got all the beauty and stonefish got all the mean and ugly!

these are Scorpionfish, not Stonefish. And at 18-20 seconds - thats a Porcupine Pufferfish.

st 22-24 there's a box fish but at 20 it's just the 2 burrs

cool tank but i'd have gone with a much wider selection of fish if i was going with faux corals.. things like angels, different puffers, butterflyfish, groupers, soapfish, eels and such
