Finally a candidate who can be differentiated from the rest of the pack. It is too bad our primary system is best weathered by those who can raise money the fastest and not by the quality of their ideas and principles.
"No Child Left Behind" has certainly been a disaster. But it was a backlash to the "throw money at it and it will solve itself" attitude, which failed as well. Please: don't just tell us where to get the money for education: tell us what you would _do_ with it to make sure our children learn to _learn_...
College Ed is great for those with the intellect to apply the learning. But "Universal College?" There are many critical occupations where it just doesn't apply. Maybe if you broaden the program to include support through tech schools or other training...?
Do we really need a Pre-K program? Sounds more like free babysitting, and getting kids under state influence (away from parents) sooner: would it really help? Just asking...
Consider how many parents already send their children to day care and how much employers spend paying for it. What's more, an early start is a great way to address education gaps in inner city areas.
although we've got free healthcare we do need lowering or cutting out college and university tuition altogether in Canada as much as it is needed in the United States
it sounds good. almost too good. not that i don't believe it. it all sound obvious. the question is. are the war lords going to allow someone to cut funding. not likely. but i hope so.
I agree with you levinumber17. A pre-K program sounds great, but who's going to pay for it? The voters. And how efficient are government run programs? Not at all. We need to privatize education, give parents freedom of choice in choosing a school, and getting rid of the wasteful Department of Education. European countries spend 1/3 of what we spend on education, have school choice and do not have education departments and score WAAAAY higher than us. Get it right Kucinich.

Teachers are overpaid. 45k for 9 months is 60k for a year, with 10 sick days, great benefits, and the backing of a HUGE union. Hell, you could spit in a students face and couldn't get fired thanks to the union.

yeah, thats great... lets turn the education system into a purely socialist system - universal education. Tuition free? Come on Kucinich... If you hand everything to everyone, education loses its value. Socialization, more government control and universalist ideas, sounds like a TRUE democratic candidate to me. You've lost your concept of what America is truely all about Mr. Kucinich.
You are grossily misunderstanding the reality of college education. It is not about tuition. It is about exclusivity. Harvard costs about at much per year as Northwestern U. But people still perfer Harvard because only a fraction get it. Same will be true if tuition was free.
Good luck with your campaign Rep. Kucinich. A Government funded Pre-K would help solve a variety of the problems children are faced with at an early age. Some of which include Obesity, Bullying, and even shyness.
Rep. Kucinich, I agree with your views on eduation. A national head-start program would be great. If in the event you don't get the nomination, the party would benefit with you as a VP or cabinet official.

Privatize education? Right, so it can be as effective as the healthcare system. ;)
