This is an awesome robot! I think that the sentences are programmed, because I don't think robots can really understand what we are saying and respond to it. Robots will never really live. Someday, robots may seem like real humans, but they are still programmed by a real person.

When there is food on the table, you can act in multiple ways. You learn that food on the table could mean dinner time for instance. Then you proceed to eat the food. Or, you may examine the food and learn that it is not your food, so you ignore the food. I don't think thats a very good example but I think this is how we are "programmed".
