The latest F-35 fighter craft utilizes indeed this technology. I doubt though, propelled propulsion will be used in the future. Think about how hazardous it would be to navigate through dense terrain and vegetation.

The military tech in this movie blows. It has no actual real live applications. Since this military for hire in the movie portrays marines that have combat experience on earth, none of the equipment at all useful. As for the AMP suits they look cool but on earth all you need is one guy with an AT-4 or RPG and thats the end of it. Cameron went over board as far as portraying the humans as over dependent on tech.

I'd disagree, those gunships are impressive. And a major platform like Dragon would be useful in a dozen roles.

Just because large armored suits have little application doesn't mean nothing in the film does.

the really cool thing is ... that thing could quite possibly be built in the next few years since its technology isnt too far off from our current level ... same goes for the Samson and Scorpion

actually the vertifans that power it were made in the 60s or 70s or something. so the only thing different about the movie is the size of these things.
