@alfaradiation I suspect a lot of the alpha stays inside the paint. I've purchased watch hands before - to find the paint almost entirely flaked off when I got them. That paint had to go someplace... Had thought about coating them in polyurethane - but that might stop all the alphas... have fun and be careful!
@ema576 nope - no magents. that's just the surface of the cloud chamber. the watch hand is sitting on a sheet of foam surrounding the chamber surface (it helps increase the saturation depth / reduces air movement)
Wow. NIce demonstration, I thought that there would be more alpha trails. And thanks for the warning, becouse I am going to try this too.
