Just got this 2 days ago. FYI its only thin if you don't count the battery [the battery props the laptop up and makes the back around 2 in thick]. Secondly, both speakers [left and right] are on the right side of the laptop...

Becoz, I saw the laptop, and it looked amazing. But the the sales person was unable to answer if, the laptop throttles..

@mazterFreeman throttles as in intels turboboost feature? In that case yes for the i5 2410m but the i3 series does not offer turboboost.

@luisM316 The Asus U46E, the version without a powerful dedicated gpu, is already available in stores like BestBuy and OfficeDepot.  The U46SV, the version with an NVIDIA gpu, will be available in the US in September.

Hey guys, do your speakers still not work? And is it possible to fix it? I'm considering to buy this laptop for school use next year, but I got a little confused when hearing about the speaker problems? And is its screen size big enough to work on without being annoyed? I am planning to buy it because of it's size, battery life, processor etc. But the most important thing is that it works in school - planning to write a lot in word of course and do my maths on it using different math programs.

@bmyslav Well i guess,you can fix that sound by changing the microphone volume,mine was also making a high pitch sound

@bukakee1 i just bought this today im actually on it right now and let me tell u right now this week(till sunday)at best buy they are giving out a 100 dollar gift card with a purchase of $699 and up on any notebook expt.apple.but anywayz i purchased this notebook at its original $749 price with the $100 gift card.u cant beat it get while u can...i like my notebook so far.its a bit heavy but everything else is great.good luck

ONLY thing not working is the sound, other than that i gotta agree the laptop is top notch !
