ok, its just that i used to have a core 2 duo before and i only had 2 gigs and same 7200 rpm drive but, my xp booted like in 20 seconds and i had alot of stuff on it and i had 3 different OS on it too. i noticed that when ur pc boots i dont see the start menu or the desktop icons till about 10 second after. for the specs you have you should get much more performance than that. you have a great laptop! just check the start up items, to see whats slowing the boot
Yeah, I noticed that too. It is really quick when it has a clean install but when it's loaded up it takes a bit longer. Also the reason my taskbar doesn't come up right away is because of the Zune desktop theme, I also use BatteryBar which I think is suspect to a slow boot up and display of the taskbar. I have 60 processes on startup.
It's fast enough for me, and I do regular checks with Spybot and Superantispyware. The computer has Symantec Endpoint Protection. There is no need to reinstall, I just did a clean install about 6 monthes ago. This computer is apart of a domain.
Not too slow, it has 2 partitions. 1:41 isn't that bad, C: partition has 8 virtual machines including; Backtrack 4 Kubuntu 9.04 Ubuntu 9.04 Windows 2000 Pro Windows 7 RC Windows 98 SE Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Windows XP Professional SP3 C: 50.7 GB (Applications) (40.3 GB Used) D: 98.2 GB (Data) (25.6 GB Used) I use Auslogics Disk Defrag on a regular basis and I don't recommend using registry cleaners. All programs are essential on the start up, I have limited as much as possible.
Yep, its got 3GB and a Fujitsu 160GB HDD @ 7200 RPM. Slot #1 is a 2GB PC2-5300 by Micron Technologies, Slot #2 is a 1GB PC2-5300 by Samsung. Why it came with different modules is beyond me, I think that might be why it lags sometimes. I got this computer for college, it was provided for me through tuition.
Symamtec endpoint Protection = bad this make all the pc slow

you sure it got 3gb of ram in there? and its a 7200rpm drive? if so it should boot alot faster than that, despite the virtual machines
