Hey Rob, something you said in the beginning got me thinking. When you said something about people not knowing anything about what they're selling, I actually use that to my advantage sometimes. When I see a listing that looks unprofessional, not a huge seller (but still positive feedback), I will sometimes message them with a buy it now offer, works more than ya think. I got a boxed copy of battletoads on the nes for $10 doing it that way. Just my little trick to get back at eBay sellers ;) lol
@blablupp77 Yeah I am am well aware of that,I was pretty clear about not taking it apart or detailed cleaning but a damp cloth to remove layers dust isn't going to hurt anything. When I receive the items I do the serious detailed cleaning myself.
Actually we are a bit lucky when it comes to games and consoles as they keep fairly well with time .. unlike the handfull of "as new" books ive bought that turned up genuinely rotten & smelly (missing pages etc).
Being a evil dane ive noticed that a lot of the usual sellers have started to limit their auctions to exclude whole countries. Not complaining but id rather sellers use logic instead like make a "only bid if you have 30+ 100%" and "Items worth £10 or more is only send signed for"
Pet peeve is rude sellers, unwarranted behaviour.I wanted to buy NOLF (No One Lives Forever), a hard to find game, a classic, and the aussie seller had it at such a good price I emailed him if I could pay cash. Didn't hear back so emailed him again a week later. Got back an email telling me to piss off and don't email him every again! Well he lost a buyer. Also receiving OEM games that came with a product, and scratched cds when stated as new.
I hate when sellers offer their products for outrageous prices. I once saw an NES for $700, and an Atari 2600 for $1000. Just silly. I want to collect boxed Famicom games, and they are $50 a piece. Ouch.
The thing that ticks me off is people selling broken or incomplete items. For example, I'm looking into getting a 32x and just about every single listing is for the unit ONLY! Then the same seller who has the 32x has the addon cables for sale for $14 each. Since you need 2 cables that's $28 plus the $30+ for the system. And then there are people selling it for $35+ for the system and they put in the description that it is BROKEN! "I can't fix it... Maybe you can!" Well don't sell it full price..
@SuperGenesisDude Good points, it took a lot of searching, I got my 32x in a Genesis package but it included ALL cables even the cable for Genesis 1 adaptor. I don't recall the specifics but I remember the total was pretty average for a 32x and all cables so the Genesis system, a few games and accessories were all bonus, figured I could trade/sell the extras later on. But yeah I wish they would sell eveything COMPLETE and not part everything out.
The most annoying tactic that sellers will use is to list their item at an insanely cheap price to get you to look or click buy it now without looking at the description, because the shipping is comically overpriced.
"Get a feather duster, blow on it".....lol. Yeah people that list their stuff wrongly drive me mad, really bad packing of the item, and people who just aim to deceive you on Ebay, to be honest most packages that arrive from an ebay seller usually come within a week, haven't had too much problems with that.
I totally agree. The thing that pisses me off would be stock photos. You see a game in mint condition in the box only to find out its cart only in poor condition.
I'll add this question to my Questionnaire Video Series, it might be awhile until I get back to you for the answer. Good question and good points MaxRD
Oh god i just had to file a claim with an seller over a little friggin cable! I'm actually thinking about giving this guy a spotlight video on youtube if he responds the way i'm expecting him to. Although he doesn't seem to respond to anything. I always clean my items before selling them so someone might actually buy it! I remember giving someone neutral feedback for bad packaging and he sent me an e-mail in all caps calling me an idiot and started trolling me. Lol. Thanks for posting this!!!!
I bought a Mega CD 2 on eBay that was supposed to have all cables etc. When it arrived there was no power plug - the seller told me to go buy a universal one from the shop! I gave negative feedback and he gave me negative feedback calling me 'abusive'.
It just bothers me when you buy something and its super dirty like wow buddy couldn't you have bothered to clean it for god sake your sending me your germs....
Winning something for a ridiculous good price and then not recieving it, ordering something that's described and shown mint and then recieving a re-placement that's in garbage conditions, very poor packaging, or recieving something that has a significant scratch, is visibly broken, cracked, chipped etc and not described as such, I've learned to ask, ask, ask questions before purchase.
Can't say that dirty items bother me as long as it's easy enough to clean myself. If it puts someone else off of bidding then it keeps the price down for the rest of us.
My main complaint would be people using stock photos of a game in it's box then adding one line in several pages of listing saying that the item is just the CD or cartridge.
The thing that kind of irritates me is when someone is selling, let's say, 6 games in 6 separate listings, but they only took one picture of all the games together and use that same picture for all of their auctions. It makes me think the auction is for a lot of 6 games at first, but you read the description that it's only for one game in the picture. Why is it so hard to take 6 separate pictures?
Good common sense points about Ebay, it also pissed me off too that dirty schmucks does not bother to clean the items their selling. Thumbs up, Favorited and Featured!
I have more complaints as a seller than a buyer. But a few of them are all the foreign or just generic Controllers, Fake DS Games, and other Fake Parts that are littered on Ebay. If your looking for a Geneis, Snes, etc controller you will find 90-99% of them are all the generic rip offs and it takes all day to wade through them to find legit ones.
@IntellivisionDude My other complain in simply robotkingnes, or other sellers like him. He is the Odyssey Hoarder (amongst other things). He is the one who tries to buy up all the Odyssey's and sell them at obscene prices. People speculate he controls most of the Odyssey market. I wish i could post a link to his page. It's sickening to see the stuff he owns and has overpriced.
My biggest problem with Ebay is that the sellers can be absoloute Dicks I know I bought a Dreamcast on Ebay that was described as "Fully Working order" when I recived it it was poorly packaged the thing was clearly in very nice condition but the GD-ROM drive was faulty I had to battle with the seller to try to get a Refund and now i'm almost certain that dick has the Dreamcast and my money with it thats the worst expirience I've had with Ebay
I have got to say I totally agree with you about cleaning Rob, I don't know if you remember it must be about 2 years ago now but I received 100 Sega games in a big package and when I opened it all up every single game stunk of smoke and everything was yellow and dirty, it was absolutely disgusting.
Oh, and dammit this video's funny. "Inbreeding?" lol "clean it up!!!" great stuff!

Cleaning, especially rubbing with wet cloths can damage the item if done unproperly. remember that. I like to clean it myself (with caution)...

I would do a response but my hatreds of Ebay are the same as all, such as large prices for very common stuff or not tested and the good old RARE!!!!

RRRRRRRRRRRRRARE 60GB PS3 LOL
If the item arrives to me as described then that to me is fair but lots of times the item is not described properly.
