  • who or what are you? I'm socially liberal and fiscally conservative-not a labour supporter and I had the option to vote for Dana in MY country's presidential election- nice woman but VERY FUCKING SOCIALLY CONSERVATIVE-is that clear to you????? You don't like what I think, do us all a favour and hold your breath for 20 minutes. Gobshite.

  • Pity she turned into a crazy conservative bitch-should have stuck to the singing.

  • @cuntzillamcgonigle Fortunately, she is clever enough not turn into a stupid labour bitch

  • @Guillaume2606 "conservative" an in the pope is right, gays are bad, divorce is wrong....

  • @cuntzillamcgonigle please translate!!

  • @Guillaume2606 extremely right wing views- beautiful voice, bad politics

  • @cuntzillamcgonigle Typical Labour point of view: I am right (!) and anyone, who thinks els than me, is wrong!.

Well, you're wrong! Communism didn't make it and labour goes the same way!!

  • I have been a Dana fan since i heard her in 1970, i wasnt allow to watch the Erovision sing contest i was 7 years old, and she was my model on which i based my singing voice on.

I met her 11 years later,my twin surprised me and i went backstage, i class it as 1 of my best days in my life.

Dana was so shy and surprised at my knowledge of her music etc.

i wish her my best wishes and love

    Hilary Mellor.

  • In Dec 1970 ,I was gtr player,Orchestra with Dana & Freddie Garrity (Dreamers Fame) in X'mas Pantomime..She was the most wonderful Snow White, with a thrilling voice & charming way about her.Freddie was a comical Buttons. She was so quiet, &sweeter in real life,& the most gracious &gentle person I had ever met.I was Fred's Lead gtr,We also did the '71,X'mas Panto-she was such a fun person,a lovely&very witty sense of humour.I met her by chance,on Isle'O'Wight-2010,&still as gracious as ever.LOL

  • hi are you the same steve that worked for astleys doing referbs in night clubs

  • It's like a mini movie for the imagination. Great song. I like Dana's version. Wish that Debbie Campbell's version was, also, posted.

  • This song is so good and there isnt a woman alive that cant relate to this song.

  • Love it Dana so goooood !!!

  • Lovely Person,Lovely Song

  • And she was my babysitter, beautiful girl and a lovely voice.

  • Seagulls and aeroplanes,

    things of the sky,

    winds that go howling,

    breezes that sigh,

    city sights, neon lights,

    grey skies or blue,

    all kinds of everything

    remind me of you.

  • Snowdrops and daffodils,

    butterflies and bees,

    sailboats and fishermen,

    things of the sea,

    wishing wells, wedding bells,

    early morning dew,

    all kinds of everything

    remind me of you.

  • Oh & p.s.. Dana "also" beat the TWO odd's on favourites - (one of whom was Julio Iglesias) .. to win the 1970 Eurovision Sound Contest - (that DANA had entered "on a laugh" - 3months before her 3 A_level Music Teacher Exams ... thus - instead of becoming a lowly music teacher - in some school somewhere - SHE made beautiful music - for the REST OF US .. "worldwide" ... and am I glad - that she entered - "ON_A_LAUGH")

  • Hi - Thankyou - once again .. for such a beautiful masterpiece

It is thus- with great pride .. that I am able to respond (back) ..

Gifting you & your viewers .. the (until now) non_released AUDIO

    (Simply)

Using your stereo feed - within my WIDE_MODE variant

    As "played" direct from - & thus - "out_of" ... your video

    Cheers.

And p.s... Note - that I have deliberately NOT included the LYRIC score

(preferring to ADVISE everyone - GO_BACK - to view your video)

  • nuff said - Dana for Pres Again xxx

  • I think that that please tell him that i said good bye should be rereleased as it is suck a beautiful song and Dana is such a lovely lady xx

  • @Tonyflan1 Hi - it was.. (It was released as a SINGLE .. in 1975 .. and nine years LATER - re-released as an "ALBUM" .. in 1984 (and was possibly "also" contained within many of her albums that came out later ... & possibly even on the 2007 ALBUM..?)

  • Good One!! I'm from the USA and had never heard of Dana until my friens sessnazx introduced me to this song. So glad he did! Thank you for posting.

  • Great song from a real cutie.

  • Whatever happened to her. Is she still performing ?

  • @stephentoole Huh ? Oh - I dunno - why don't u ask her Urself... (or better still - simply Wikipedia for her .. & her full name is ... Dana Rosemary Scallon )

  • @stephentoole Yes..

Just wikipedia on her name ....

  • this songs awesummm !!!!!! luv it

  • My DANA channel now has 80+ favourites for you to enjoy in this her 40th anniversary year.

  • Lovely!!!!

  • Love this song 5*

  • somebody else sang this song in the same time period summer of '75.. may have been a country singer... anybody know who?

  • Debbie Campbell, formerly of Buckwheat (London Records). Released on Playboy Records. Debbie died in 2004 - RIP.

  • thank you!! I remembered it was someone named Debbie.. have never been able to find it

  • google her - she released a couple of indy albums toward the end of her life that are beautiful, albeit a bit spiritual - but still very listenable. Don't get her confused with Glen Campbell's daughter, though - a different Debbie Campbell. Also google "Simple Song of Freedom" here and Buckwheat - that's Deb singing. I miss her still. RIP.

  • thank you...again!!!! will do!

  • The English version was also performed by Marie Osmond. The also was a French version by Joe Dassin, and the German version sang Dana herself.

  • Am doing some other things - such as replying to a HUGE "backlog" of emaiils etc...(funny that)

As - between twittering & making audio videos for Youtube & Xanga

(I utilise Xanga for my "longer _tunes" - such as an 18 minute K_RAY_Z audio_track)

(All) Emailing sorta ? slips behind ?

    nowadays ;-)

    ?

  • Ok- 1st play

    ZIP-nada-nothing.? (no audio)

Did some checking- yep- stereo on standby

    Ok- 2nd try

    ZIP? (eh.? more checking)

    uh-ha- Multi_Sw at wrong "input".

    Ok.? 3rd try

Yep- almost as GOOD as my TAPE

But Ur base_enhancers were TOO strong & U cut a lot of the treble (when converting)

So- even though this vid is nice- I will still be using my (orig) 20 solid gold hits- Vol_11 & the same TAPE has "Changes" by Jim Messina & Kenny Loggins too- (hear my vid)- All my Life... etc

  • Brilliant song from brilliant song!

  • Another one of my Nana's songs - bloody wonderful!

  • First heard her singing this on The Golden Shot : still have partial recording of it on audiotape (the show has been wiped)

  • Actually Joe Dassin released his album in 1974 so she was rather surfing on his success on the continent.

I am still looking for the exact date of Shepstone & Dibbens's original.

  • Very beautiful version!

    French version is Joe Dassin:

    "Si tu t'appelle mélancolie"

    Very excellent song.

    Thank you for sharing.

    Regards

  • This is very beautiful!

  • Thank You Dana...Voice Of An Angel,

    Bless You

    Love From Mike

  • Always brings tears to my eyes

  • Oh no, I had forgotton this, I really want to marry her now

  • brought back memories what a great time ,thanks for the post

  • A touching song with "the sound of 70's" on a beautiful voice!!! Besides a wonderful lady, of course! Thanks to my dear friend Laura for sharing with me!

  • oh,she sounds so

  • One of those songs that 'lads' pretended they didn't like back then.

  • How can anyone dislike Dana's music is beyond me!

  • My Crush at the age of 16.! What Beautiful eyes...

  • but the melody and the lyrics of this song seems more sad than "just tell her jim said hello".

"does he still look just the same... it must be year... tell him i won't be back again..."

that may imply something very bad ever happened to her, maybe she isn't here anymore.

anyway both are very good songs!

  • Is this a response to Elvis's song "Just tell her Jim said hello".

  • oops.. Clicked submit too soon.

Couldn't find this song on any cd list and it's missing from the torrents so I googled.. and bugger me.. A youtube of it.

Thanks for posting this... borought back memories.

Now if only I could find the damn song !!

  • I was 14 and living in the southern burbs of Perth Western Australia when this song came out.

I have been buying and scanning the torrents for songs from my misspent yoof. This song was one of them. Mainly coz a chick I fancied like it (Heather Leek - in case she ever reads this)

  • I hope Heather reads it and looks you up mate . LOL,

  • I think this is a beautiful song, I remember it from years ago...Dana is a brilliant singer

  • Marie Osmond covered this song in her 1977 Album - This Is The Way That I Feel. In the same key!

  • I love this song ... Lots of memories..

  • her voice is beautiful! why can't i find any of her cd in my local stores?

  • Hi to everyone, who loves it as I do. Best wishes from Fryazino, where no bears on the streets, just a hedgehogs, he he )))

  • Thank U

  • Beautiful song from the lovely Dana thanks.

  • What an absolute cutie - I remember my heart was broken when this came out - couldn't bear to listen. Mind you, I knew it was a great song, what a talent.

  • Does any one have Dana's THE FAR OFF PLACE ?

  • super, super, Thanks

  • L'original. Super !!!

Cela fait plaisir de retrouver cette chanson après si longtemps.

  • Always loved you Dana. Strange that you don't know your place in my life. Long life & happiness Princess. XXX

  • Very strange...Dana lost the Jill Clayborgh look and went to a little Claudine Longet which surprised even me?

  • Were you an admirer iris? She made such a refreshing change from the strumpets that were entertaining us at the time. I confess that I'm a bit of a hypocrit, given that strumpets seemed to be all I was interested in at the time - impetuous and imperfect youth that I was back then. Much wiser now!

  • thanks for this, but has anyone got the top of the pops clip aired on 13th march 1975? i know its in the bbc archives but never got it on uk gold or top of pops 2.

i was stuck behind a cell door in the scrubs when this was out awaiting borstal to dover. what memories, some good , some bad.....

  • Many early editions of Top Of The Pops were shown live and unrecorded, many later editions were recorded but wiped. Despite this, and as you say, many editions remain in the BBC archives, but are not available commercially.

March 1975, the Bay City Rollers knocked Telly Savalas off the number one spot, what memories!

  • And Typically Tropical were just around the corner! Boy did we need '76-'77. Still liked this era though.

  • Thanx for posting this bladesteve2007, I was only 10 when this came out and remember it being in the chart (was it over xmas?) I used to listen to this all the time and I ain't heard this for yrs, so good to hear it again!

can we relive the 70's again! :)

  • If you want to see her sing this song it is available on the DVD "Tommy Cooper hour"

  • thanks for this info, just ordered off amazon, its a 3 dvd set, love toommy cooper as well.

  • Wow, great song! I just cam acros her. Is she German?

  • No, she isn't. Dana is Irish.

  • best irish singer ever

  • came across this by accident,,,havent heard it in so many years, was part of my beloved nans collection..she's been passed over 21 years now..twas bittersweet

  • Thanx! Nice voice, nice girl. I was searching for this one. Of course 5 stars!

  • I love DANA. She is ausome and has a brand new album out!

    WLS

    USA

  • I'm jealous, all these pictures I've never seen before, there's even one showing her strumming a guitar. This record took 3 mths to chart - her first hit in over 3 yrs. Worth waiting for.

If I were you, BladeSteve, I'd add the magic word "Eurovision" to the tags.
