I don't play guitar, Im a drummer but I love listening to this video. The vibrato this guys has is sweet and is what young guitar players need to pay attention to.
Good job man, lots of people do not play it right but you got it real close. I have played it this way for years and pretty sure Billy's way it real close. Thanks for spending the time to work it out right.
I love this vid for a few reasons but the biggest is my fascination with playing Billy's licks the way that I hear them and the Tab just misses some notes that for the life of me I struggle to figure out. I admit I want to play his stuff exact and I love how in depth you take us into what actually appeared on the recording. Even the stuff where you point out how a couple of times we even hear that open A ring. Thanks so much for being meticulous.
@Ironhandjohn I think that is the fan motor for the AC which is just a few feet away. I didn't notice it until you asked. I had to leave the AC on because this song is already hot and nasty! LOL
wow dude good lesson and nice job breaking it down i learned it after the 1st time watching video... have not got it as perfect of you but sounds good for learning it in 5 mins :P
@gjs850 No, a Strat with a humbucker s. Duncan Model 78 (used to be the EVH model) Using two digital processors with plexi style patches with just a little chorus, delay and reverb. Mostly just hot ass plexi, wide ass open! Thanks for the post!
This lesson is very well done. Thank you for mentioning the "attitude". Sometimes we overlook that it is not just what you play, but how you play it. Great example of this.
Joe, I love ZZ Top and you are great! I was wondering what guitar produces the best ZZ Top sound and what effects are used to produce his unique sound that you do so well. Thanks, Hutch
Thanks! I did this with an EVH Duncan pickup. They changed the name to a Model 78 awhile back. Duncan also makes a Pearl Gates pickup that is Billy's signature pickup. The amp or amp model that works best for me is a cranked Plexi or some other high gain Marshall type with just a little chorus and very little reverb, delay etc. Don't forget the attitude!!! It is a big part of his sound. Dig in and get NAS-TAY!!!!!
Sorry Hutch, I really didn't answer your question about the guitar. A Les Paul with humbuckers probably does the "Waitin' For The Bus' tone the best right out of the box. If you can tweak it with the pickups that I mentioned, it just gets better.
Yeah! Click on the "more" under the description for this video. Go to the vanderbilly site and click "video vault." Then do a search for tony11122 and all of my lessons should come up. This is only part one of six lessons for this song. Every part of the song including the solo is at the vanderbilly site. Good luck Bro!

Good Job BSG is the master
if anyone i suspect has gone 2 the crossroads its Billy,
he's scary good, Jimmy Hendrix always said, MR Billy S Gibbons his favorite
guitar player, what does that tell anyone?, pedal note of the open A
then the occasional, triad on the bottom 3 kicked
here makes this lick, his stuff is obvious, but aint easy, tone is in his fingers
not his guitar, he uses his fingers and pick in unison, next in line MR ED king
of the LSB they dont mess around when they go to record.

of Bills finds KINGS X that kid from mississippi, played a fender elite amazing, Anyway. Was going to say
Frank beard is one hell of a tight drummer. He doesnt get enough credit, hes a huge part of their sound
THE old ZZ top mix is amazing all three are masters, togeather they are rock history
