  • 0:22 - 0:25 is so Epic !

  • @insaneinthebrain1978 Those are a great couple of chords. Thank you, Jimi!

  • Love it man, I'm doing this song for a school assignment and I like you variations. Soo thank you :D

  • @stevenpenso And thank YOU! Good luck on your project.

  • Gibson*

  • Ya know jimi play gibbons for a while. You can look up him playing a les Paul and red house on YouTube he's playing a white sg

  • @KrustyDGK Yes, and don't forget his Flying V! He liked Gibsons for the bluesier stuff but preferred Strats for his more Rock oriented songs.

  • U are one lucky bastard to live in a place like that ;)

  • @flashpadxxx Believe me, I know it!

  • evening sun is beatifull

  • WTF! this is NICE!! Guitars in the Sand! good job my friend!

  • thumb up from Italy, Great job!

  • @musiKBeing Thank you from the USA!

  • holy. crap.

    your great !

  • @madambuttahfly Thank you, Madam!

  • awesome man

  • @richsabre Thank you very much! Be sure to tune in to my 24-Hour Guitar-A-Thon against Cancer on September 2nd! Details at KevyNova dot com.

  • gut!

  • Kevy Nova you rock!!!! Fans from Oregon!

  • @getawhatwhat1 WooHoo!

  • you really made it yours man, congrats, i really think hendrix would appreciate that over someone who could just play every note from the record

  • @mattsavedbygracengai Thank You. I like to figure out every note of a song, and then try to not copy it note-for-note because I don't see the point in doing what has already been done. I actually got to play my version on acoustic over the phone to Jimi's sister, Faith, and she was very nice and said that Jimi would have liked it. That just about was the best thing anyone has ever said to me!

  • Did your guitar rust after that??

  • @KRISXEN No, but I got some sand in my shoes.

  • strato or die XD

  • @claudio8804 If I knew that I was going to be making this video ahead of time, I would have brought one of my Strats. ;-)

  • amazing.

  • @ASkateOfMind Thanks!

  • unbeleivably amazing... u are a legend, jimi would be proud

  • @TheSleepySurprise I got to play this song over the phone to Jimi's cousin once and she said that he would have liked it. That totally made my year!

  • Perfect atmosphere.

  • Way too much gain but cool setting.

  • @yatah I agree. It was only my first time plugging that guitar in (just got it on craigslist) and I should have messed with the settings a little more but I was in a hurry.

  • Man , you are awesome !

  • @IgorUptheIrons Thanks, I try not to suck!

  • yeahh sound is really amazing :) Suddenly you decided to record this video but you achieved a great job ; what I understood is that people should the things they want whenever they want ....

  • @Nirvanaaist The best things in life are usually the things that nobody planned.

  • sick cover:)

haha im from austria and i've actually been to half moon bay.

i'm stoked i've been on that beach:)

  • @johnfrusciante94 Cool! I've never been to Austria...

  • Dude is tht a real place?! It looks real but idk lol. And awesome cover dude best I've ever seen.

  • @KrustyDGK It is very real, it's my favorite beach and I live about a mile away from it.

  • @KevyNova wow dude your very fortunate lol where is that by the way?

  • @KrustyDGK This is in Half Moon Bay, California.

  • @KevyNova i live in delaware so there nothing close to that

  • @KrustyDGK Ah yes, Delaware is nice but the view is very different.

  • NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • @wesleyinter THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANKS

  • keep up the good work i would love to see more videos from you.

  • @4Blunts2Jays0nlyCron Well, I do have some more. I hope you like them.

  • dude... this is by far the best cover of castles ive heard. I like its imperfections and how you put so much soul into it.

  • @4Blunts2Jays0nlyCron Our imperfections are what makes us perfect. Thanks you for the nice comments.

  • it would suck if u hit a dead note.. btw that was amazing bud.

  • @MurderLabel Thank you.

  • ever since i saw your cover i find myself coming to this page numerous times to listen it, nice playing

  • @struguri I'm glad that you enjoy it.

  • I use this song as an exercise in singing and playing an "around the beat" song.. It is hard! You have to get into a muscle memory kind of space. You nail it.. Alright one take before the sun sets!

    Great!

  • @stratdoc It took me a long time to be able to play it and sing it at the same time. LOTS of practice!

  • nice voice.

  • @rupertacdc Thank you very much.

  • GREAT!!

    but buy a strat :):)

  • @Luk93t I own about a dozen Strats, but all I had with me was the SG. If I knew that I was gonna be doing this song, I would have brought a Strat for sure.

  • dude, dude , dude, wtf that was fucking awsome, your great . rock the fuck on !

  • @adammpapa1 Haha, thanks!

  • that was badass :O

  • @ELIASsandberg Thanks, glad you liked it.

  • not bad for basic gear! o.0

  • wtf is powering the amp

  • @sKaTeRJ1509 Six AA batteries. Roland MicroCube rules!

  • @KevyNova haha thats sik. lovin it bro

  • @Culturein2Chaos Haha, I agree that a Strat sounds much better on a song like this. To be honest, I wasn't even planning on making this video. I was just driving by the beach with the SG that I just bought from a guy on craigslist when I was inspired by the sunset to pull over and play that song. I ended up putting some P-90 pickups in and filed the nut to fix the tuning problem. The guitar sounds much better now! (but still not the same as a Strat)

  • How did I not find this video before? Excellent!

  • @kenrg I don't know, it's been up for two years. How DID you not find it until now?

  • huh/////that was terrible...jk that was really good. nice job

  • @xXkingPurpXx Thanks, you had me fooled for 1/2 a second there. Haha!

  • verry good man xD

  • @wesleysidney Thanks!

  • Pretty spot on for most of it. Nice job.

  • @AirHendrix91 Thank you.

  • Fantastic mate, what settings are you using on the micro cube, great sound.

  • @mnutt1 I'm using the "Brit Combo" setting with the gain at about 80% and the tone around 70%. Thanks for the comment!

  • I've got a Roland Micro Cube too - I quite like it for what it is. Perfect for playing Jimi down at the beach.

  • @buskerbuoy They're great little amps. I just finished using mine for a 24 hour Guitar-a-thon to raise money for the American Cancer Society!

  • @KevyNova I'm learning this song at the moment and I definately aspire to your great rendition well done.

  • Great! ...What did you plug your amp into...?

  • @undathebridge

The Micro Cube is mains or battery powered

  • thanks for making my day (:

  • @JoeyOostra Your comment made MY day, thanks!

  • Nice!!!

  • that was awesome. it takes so much skill to be able to play and sing at the same time, so dont down yourself on your performance.

  • @a7xforever10 Thanks, I appreciate that. The biggest thing was that I had just gotten that guitar used and had not yet given it a proper set-up so it went horribly out of tune and it really distracted me. I have a lot of other videos that I like better, check 'em out.

  • I would have loved to be sitting right in front of you on that beach watching you jam. =} Nice Job..

  • @7up243 Thanks. At least we have youtube, right? ;-)

  • I have a friend with your guitar and it's so raw it's totally tight. could you message me the progression?

(by the way you're playing is amazing! I mean like you've got hendrix in your soul.)

  • @hockeyMVP4life Thank you very much, I really appreciate your comments. I never write anything down (cover songs or originals) so I don't have anything to send and time is pretty tight these days. Besides, I'm not entirely sure that I'm even playing the song right! I'll bet you could find a book or even tabs online for this song though, it's pretty popular. Good luck, let me know how you make out!

  • hhahah good! but too mutch destortion:)

  • @TamaHawked I agree with you about the distortion. I had just gotten this guitar the day before and was playing it through the amp for the first time. It sounds a lot crunchier than a Strat does on the same settings!

  • Fuckin GREAT

  • @TheJHEWillShineAgain Fuckin THANKS!!!

  • Thanks, I'll check them out.

What beach and city is this filmed in?

I might need to move near that place, looks gorgeous..

  • @JHendrixxxxx This is Poplar Beach in Half Moon Bay, CA.

  • Great cover mate! Very impressive.

  • @Guitarman0 Thank you very much!

  • awesome job. one of my hendrix favs. you really captured the intricacies of the rhythm playing while nailing the vocals.

  • @jeffee47 Well, I don't know if I "nailed" the vocals but I did my best. Thanks man!

  • Awesome cover and really great singing!

I absolutely love your singing, playing and the background...

    What amp did you use?

  • @JHendrixxxxx I used a Roland MicroCube. It's a great little amp, it works on six AA batteries and has a ton of settings to get just about any sound/tone you want.

Thanks for the comment. If you want to hear some of my original songs, be sure to check out my other videos as well as my website.

    Peace.

  • yeah man!!!!!

  • @approssimoXdifetto Woo Hoo!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Good place for this song!

  • @yucelozel Any place is a good place for this song, but the beach is my favorite place for anything. Thanks for watching!

  • Nice scenery for an awesome performance.

  • @Polop1264 Thank you very much. I try to do my best.

  • that's probably the best cover i've heard for this song

  • @patio00 Thank you.

  • tnats beautiful scenery and a not too shabby cover! Good job!

  • Thanks! I wasn't planning on doing it but I was at the beach and had my guitar in the car and it was just such a beautiful sunset that I felt inspired. I would have done another take because I wasn't happy with this one but the sun was down at the end of the song so that was it.

  • awsome song, good covor.

freekin perfect scenery...and for the song... I'm jealous

  • @JimmyPage97 Thanks. It's one of my favorite songs of all time.

  • youre an excellent musician! (wish i could be that good one day!)

  • @50CaliberProduction You can, just practice!

  • nice cover man!

  • @xXRGProdigyXx Thank you.

  • very good video in ALL RESPECTS, SIR!

  • @gabrieltsiry Thank you very much! As Homer Simpson said,

"Nobody's ever called me 'Sir' before without adding 'You're causing a scene!'"

  • Good VIDEO !

  • @1dai2ta3 Thank you!

  • very good

  • @pmay222 Glad you liked it.

  • Very creative, playing one of the most difficult hendrix songs while singing! lol

  • @TripleCLUTCH I still don't have it completely down but it was good enough for youtube, haha! Thanks!

  • your insecurities come through in your performance. let go.

  • That was simply the most creative cover of this song I've ever seen...and you added your own touches w/o taking away from the song, which is always the hard part about covers...Fantastic job, mate. Truly :)

  • @OutOfTheClosetProd

Thank you very much. I appreciate your kind words.

  • Best cover ever.

  • @4Blunts2Jays0nlyCron

    *blush*

    Thanks!

  • Also, I just checked the sheet music for this.

Yeah, fuck that. Hahaha. You're awesome.

  • Fucking epic. Favorited and subscribed.

  • @xThePilfer

Thanks for subbing, I'm glad you liked it.

  • Nice session.

    Sun-set,music,colors and great energy

  • @oskarfeldkatze

It is a magical combination, isn't it? I should do more videos on the beach...

  • so white

  • I love the sun shining on that guitar ;)

  • @Pentatonikus

    Me too!

  • Nice job...............Keep on playing.

  • @cast1968

    Thanks, I will!

  • but this song is really hard to sing and play at the same time. maybe i should watch yours and try again.

  • @sakahari

I'm still trying to get it down myself! Haha!

  • you should have built a sand castle and at the end of the video wash it into the sea or something hah ahaha

  • i dont like the tone but like your playing and creativity for the video. good stuff.

  • pretty cool...love hendrix sound:P

  • very creative, I like it

  • this is a reallly! good cover of one of the best songs ever.......great 5/5 :)

  • You got better flow than most I have seen on here. Must have been the waves :)

  • Thank you very much. I love playing at the beach...

  • This was great, the ambiance was perfect too

  • excellent..... you seized the moment!!

  • i have that same guitar, with the same inlays and everything. pretty rare. nice cover too

  • It's a great guitar. I really love the crescent moon inlays, too bad they only made them for a year or two.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • aww your at the beach! i love it

  • REALLY great cover! I enjoyed it alot! 5 Stars, keep it up :-) !!

  • very well done dude (and i don't say that often)!

  • Great cover! Very appropriate location too!

  • Very good

  • Do you think I should take the micro cube, micro spider or the Vypyr?

  • I haven't tried the Micro Spider or Vypyr but I have been VERY happy with my Micro Cube. Check out my video of All Along The Watchtower to hear what it sounds like when it's run through a PA system!

  • OK! Thanks bud!

  • By the way,is it loud enough with a band?

  • You can run the line out into a PA and then it will be as loud as the PA can get. Let's put it this way, the ONLY reason to own a Marshall stack these days is just to look cool.

  • And without any PA, the microcube alone? Is it loud?

  • It's not loud enough to do a gig with drums by itself but I think it's pretty loud for a battery powered practice amp.

  • Do you think the Micro Spider would be loud enough for that (6 watts,6 inches )? Otherwise I think I'll get a Microcube. Thanks!

  • I've never played through a Micro Spider so I don't know how loud they are but the Micro Cube is 2 watts with a 5 inch speaker. My best advice would be to find a store where they'll let you play through both side by side. I hope hope you find what you are looking for!

  • OK,thanks! :D

  • the reason people have big marhsall stacks or any big high end tube amp is not only for the looks. its for the tonal qualities and feel that you can get at a loud volume. there is a tone and feel that you cant replace with a practice amp and a PA surely wont make it sound any better......btw thats beside the point GREAT PLAYING

  • ur pretty dang good

  • Thanks, I try not to suck!

  • 5* makes me wish I still lived by the ocean, excellent song, apparently Hendrix wrote it about his family starting with the relationship his father had with his mother, his little brother, and his mother whom he loved so dearly, she was in a wheelchair before she passed. RIP.

  • I always thought that this song (along with Bold As Love) was one of Jimi's very best. Hendrix was a true master at putting personal sadness into his songs.

  • man that must have been epic

  • Thanks! Are you fag or Gay and stil hate you about that video with Led Zeppelin orginal songs fuck you!

  • You got it in check pity you weren't a little softer!

5* and made my faves just the same:)
