Good Balkan border story. A friend of mine went there in '95 to help a mutual friend make a movie/documentary about a Sarajevo artist / political group. He rented a car and drove from north east Italy down to Split, had a very interesting time and drove back. Later he got this massive bill from the rental car company basically charging him the cost of buying the car. Apparently they found a Serbian candy wrapper in the ashtray and charged the fee when you take a rental into a war zone.

@sasbenjr i'm a skiier rather than a boarder but the slopes in France and Austria are really good. I personally though Colorado was better, though it's too expensive to go there much so i mostly stick to Europe
