I fell in love with Anita's voice before I even knew who she was. She could have easily been a superstar but she put her family ahead of her career, you have to admire that even though we as fans lost out. She really was a major impact to country music, she was a major sessions musician and background singer. Her voice still send chills down my spine. I love you Anita, you'll always live in memory.
So agree with you philksfa! I came across Anita's songs by chance only a couple of years ago - 'Ring of Fire' was the song I was looking to download, and, stunned to find quite so many versions, set about listening to all of them. Of course, Anita's version won hands down! Do wish I could track down an actual live performance of her singing 'Ring of Fire' but it seems beyond my internet capabilities! Carol from Farnham, Surrey
Okay for singing in a bar in front of drunken Cowboys ,her performance is ok! As Singer definetly average,as I see the Carters have been predecessors to the World-wide-hated Kelly-Family dumbfucks! All the same lame normal People killing bullshit! Buuuuuuuaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh jerk off.......haaaah...wow needed that......
Her voice was incredible when I was a teenager and didn't really care to be caught listening to "country music," unless it was outlaw music. But she stopped me cold then, and now that I know a little about music, I know just how very incredible it as.
Anita was a very versatile singer who had greater sucess in the duets catagory like Hank |Snow Waylon Jennings & Johnny darrell. Her solo singles could've been given a boost if the right people promoted her properly. These are questions that are still unanswered today and one thing that no one can take away was her singing voice and these voices you don't hear much anymore.
Wow just discovered her,had heard some of the Carter songs but not Anita on her own, that vocal is pure perfection, possibly the best female singer i have ever heard, beautiful.
Such grace and beauty! And to speak of her voice..it is though an angel is singing for the heavens....This can easily be said of all the majestic Carter Family.
"The greatest singing voice in American country music today". JC wasn't wrong, was he? Unless we feel Anita had the best voice of any female vocalist in the history of country music? I have no doubt that this was the case. Phil from Dover, England
@philksfa There were a lot of people in the US who would agree with JC back in those days. The likes of Hank Williams, Faron Young, Waylon Jennings, Chet Atkins and many other artists also agreed.
Anita had the voice and, in her younger days, was certainly easy on the eyes. If it hadn't been for poor choices of material, mediocre promotion, and a debilitating illness that slowly killed her, she might have been a huge star.
So easy to listen to, such a beautiful voice.

@LOUISGIZMO, if you think Anita Carter's voice was just okay, then you do not know anything about voices and singing. Her voice was like an angel's.

And Thank God she was not Tammy Whynott.

Hi,if only Anita Carter could have been at this years CMA awards, she would be a huge reminder of how a good country singer should sound.
Something that the people who select the nominees have long forgotten.
Anita's Let's Pretend, her duet with Hank Snow,to me sets the benchmark for all duets.
Thanks for uploading.

@philksfa I have to second your notion as saying Anita Carter had the best singing voice in all genres in all of history.
