Hey guys, so at 3:40 where you combine the tones, can you tell me how you do that(it may be easier for me to understand if I read it). So are these 2 stock presets that are in the POD itself? And does the X3 Live have the same presets as the X3 Live?
Does anyone know how I can record two tracks separated by line 6 pod such as guitar and vocals separated for editing. When I record I use regular guitar cable and XLR microphone.
@bandofhorsez It sounds pretty good for what it is and the level of customisation available is very enticing. Bottom line, it's ideal for the people that can't afford a £1000+ tube amp, don't have the space and have neighbours that will erupt louder than said tube amp if you crank it.
@bandofhorsez Yeah, I love lugging my whole rig(Cab, Head, Stomp boxes) around while im on tour and taking it all on the plane with me and paying a fortune to have it on the plane and then to have it transported once I land and shit and make no money from my gigs cause i've spent my last penny just to get my rig from A to B.Get a clue man. This is simply for people who wanna have a quick set up, are able to take it places and dont mind its modelling. its not meant to be the real deal. close tho!
Hey guys can someone tell me which is the difference between Line 6 TonePort and Line 6 Pod X3 ? and also can i use it with mine Tascam US-800 ? thx =)
Why do they always get some awesome guitarist cutting sick on the fretts, and then for the bass player it's some depressed guy playing a 2 note bass riff?
@MasterDeathLightning yeah its that easy, you don't even have to plug it into an amp i used computer speakers on a lesser model of this and it still sounded really cool
I've got a POD XT with all the expansion packs but the bass models, what's the difference between mine and the X3? I heard you could use 2 mics at once.
Does the POD X3 (specifically the little red kidney bean one.) do the two instrument thing? I see one 1/4 input and an XLR. is there an adapter for the XLR?
@GuitarRocks23455 you could do one or the other, plug it into your amp.. plug it into your computer speakers... or... plug it straight into your usb drive. Its all you.
@jayzee91 Yes. You just need the cable to go from the x3 to your computer, it might even come with one. It has both heads and cabs modeled within it so you dont even need a cab outside. I use one because it works kind a like a monitor
@fortworthtexas1 I bought it, i was able to buy it, I'm 15 and at secondary school, I don't exactly have a large income. I don't understand why that made you so angry. Maybe if you stopped being such an asshole, people will like you. Then you might actually make some friends, then you will stop being such an angry person!
@0BastardsofBodom ....Expensive? WTF?...Why dont you add up the sound of all the amps this thing holds than compare the price....you'll see expensive.
Just bought a used line 6 pod xt, can anyone tell me how to find which version it is, I want to download manual but there is a pre version 2 and 3, not sure which one I have.
Sounds like crap to me. Just get a good tube amp-like a hot rod deluxe. These effects might sound good in a bedroom but lousy on stage. Less is always better in a signal path
sure, you can... you can use 2 marshall amps if you want, and send each amp separate tone if you like...you will just plug the pod into your return in the back of your marshall and bypass the amp tone.
Do I have to have something plugged into the outputs of the Pod x3 to hear myself playing through my computer? Or can I use my built in speakers in my laptop until I get better speakers?
In internet you can find two kind of videos about a product:
the first ones are produced by people that makes advertising;
the second ones are realized by users.
Well, I used to think that the first kind is made to sell the product so we don't know what they do to make the product "seems-to-be-good"; in that case, maybe the pod is miced by the speaker of a very good & expensive amplifier. You MUST listen what a customer obtains from a pod. The best'd be: try before buy (if you can)
Does anyone else also experience horrible fizz and artifacts in the tone of this thing? After playing with it for 3 months, I've come up with only a single distorted tone that is barely decent...
I think I may be doing something wrong since my other 150$ solid state amp sounds Much better...
to tell the truth,if u want it for metal like i do..it has not the best wah...but if u like playing songs like van hallen jimi hendrix etc its very good...also if u want it for metal dont buy xt because u need to purchase a pack for 50 euros which makes it very good..but thats just my opinion...the best thing u can do is to save money and on day buy engl invader ;)...
Thanks for your opinion. I dont really want one for metal. I just like the idea of having most effects. I guess I m into rock classical and contemporary stuff so thanks anyway.
I've never really checked out metal by the way besides acdc what bands would you recommend?
took me forever to get back to you but yeah plug your guitar into the pod with one cable, your pod into the amp with another.
bands to check out that havent been mentioned early W.A.S.P. like the crimson idol or of course Last in command... other bands Accept, Yngwie Malmsteen, Metallicas album master of puppets .. or Joe Satriani or Ozzy Osbourne those are just a few.. but let one band lead to another.
Right:p By the way I chose the boss gt-10 over the podx3 live and Im really happy with the choice. I have a pocket pod for all my mobile needs. It works gr8.
if it works by all means lol, if you wanted one down the road for less try craigslist or kijiji i got my 2.0 pod half price.. but as long as it does what you want why let brand hold you back.. message me privately, I get back there quicker.
its awesome, for home computer recording or it awesome for use thru your amp, on stage, or for just bring to the show in your back pack, with your guiar , and just run direct into the sound board via DI box...i used it for all... and i play progdeath metal..
Yes you can. Get the Floorboard to control it with and bring what you need in through the monitors. Great idea for controlling stage volume, especially in smaller venues. Modeling is becoming much more reliable as it progresses. Not something I wouldn't have given a second thought 10 years ago.
any way you want really think of it like a really expensive or advanced guitar pedal.
you can plug your gutiar into it with a set of headphones in it... your guitar into the pod into an amp... your guitar into the pod into computer speakers even. Also this I believe this and the XT model can record into your computers USB when your ready to record.
@JYZProductions Thank you. So I just need a lot of effects for live gigs and dont want to spend time picking up stompboxes. Im guessing if ive got this then a basic amp would do?
yeah even a basic amp would do the X3 has all kinds of effects and you can easily go from one guitar tone to the other instead of after every song messing with the knobs to get your tone perfect.
When I got my 2.0 i used a line 6 spider 3 15 watt and this and it made even that sound great (i hated it) , and the mesa boogie setting is defintely worth trying if your into metal, i found it great for solos.
does the pod x3 work with every amp. Would you just plug the thing into your amp and then do the settings on the pod, or do you have to put a certain setting on your amp in order for it to play the effects from the pod. Thanks in advance.
if its like a 2.0 its just like any other processor on the market, it will play your guitar tone (with headphones or computer speakers lets say)... and than add onto the amps tone.
wow..being a guitar and a bass player..this would be perfect! i love bass effects. I have one question though, say if you have the Line 6 pod x3 live, could you use the wah pedal with a bass?
Toneport or Pod Studio (new name), is just an audio interface, a device to plug your guitar into so you can record to your computer. X3 Live is a pedal board that can also be used as an audio interface.
X3 Live is great to practice at home or to record with but I had a hard time to use it live, it destroyed the tone of my tube amp.
I sold the X3 Live, I am now using TC Electronic Nova System for live, and Pod Studio for recording. Nova doesn't have hi-gain distortion, I use BOSS Metalcore too
so its for recording but how does it work do you just have to plug it into your computer or something ? than is there any software you need to buy or somthing ive never had anything like this and im not a big computer nerd so I dont get what the difference is from this and the tone port
X3 is good for recording, but it's not that good for live sound, especially when you crank your amp, it sounds bad, even with all the tweaks and tricks that you can find on YouTube. My tube amp has a much better sound on it's own, amp modelling sucks. Get an M13 and Toneport.
since you want to record an XT or an X3 or higher.. the 2.0 is perfect for practicing but its more complicated to record straight on your computer than those... the added effects and guitar modes are great too.
for those who know, is the only difference between this and the live model the fact that the live model is a pedal board? i don't know much about these things and really would like to know how this stuff works.
I have the X3 model and i can't fault it. It's fantastic and has almost unlimited options available. it can take a lot of time to master it, but once you've got the hang of it, it's pretty easy to tweak to a sound you're happy with.
I have one and it kicks ass. You have to tweak it like everything else out there. If I had a tube power amp I doubt you could tell the difference between it and the real thing.
@ myspaccer: the compression for the clean tones are perfect. If you aren't satisfied with it, then you could edit it using your knowledge of audio engineering! But this is the greatest clean tone compression that I've witnessed. But I guess it's not right for you. I just wanted to mention this, because I thought what you've said about it is misleading. :-(
Hey guys, so at 3:40 where you combine the tones, can you tell me how you do that(it may be easier for me to understand if I read it). So are these 2 stock presets that are in the POD itself? And does the X3 Live have the same presets as the X3 Live?

but the best way is to copy his tone is to buy a signature Ouija board guitar like his and use all the same amps and stuff

wow..being a guitar and a bass player..this would be perfect! i love bass effects. I have one question though, say if you have the Line 6 pod x3 live, could you use the wah pedal with a bass?
ilovechugs 2 years ago
Really stuppid question but if you have this you odnt have to plug it on your amp?
Ibik 2 years ago
u dont have to if you have headphones but would need an external amp to amplify the sound

If you hook it into your computer, can you hear it while you play without recording?
Spade103XBL 2 years ago
yes you can. I do it all the time. just using the analog port of my sound card and activating that line for the speaker.

Thanks for the reply man. This is definitely going to be my next purchase instead of an amp.

Nova doesn't have hi-gain distortion, I use BOSS Metalcore too

so its for recording but how does it work do you just have to plug it into your computer or something ? than is there any software you need to buy or somthing ive never had anything like this and im not a big computer nerd so I dont get what the difference is from this and the tone port
metallicatriviumPwN 2 years ago
you record straight into the usb with either the software they give you or a recording software you've got.

X3 is good for recording, but it's not that good for live sound, especially when you crank your amp, it sounds bad, even with all the tweaks and tricks that you can find on YouTube. My tube amp has a much better sound on it's own, amp modelling sucks. Get an M13 and Toneport.

Whats the best pod to get? LIke for practicality, sound and recording
BrileyBeelo 2 years ago
since you want to record an XT or an X3 or higher.. the 2.0 is perfect for practicing but its more complicated to record straight on your computer than those... the added effects and guitar modes are great too.

In my video response you can hear our music which is all recorded through the Pod X3 Live. I love Line6!

so i can use this as an amp thingy and get insane distortion from spiders or no??
TheEman707 2 years ago
these things only sound good when you run it direct into the mixer or as a pre amp.
kreed712 2 years ago
How else would you use it?
speedfreak808 2 years ago 5
for those who know, is the only difference between this and the live model the fact that the live model is a pedal board? i don't know much about these things and really would like to know how this stuff works.

i really have to get ahold of one of these.
how much better is the x3 than the xt?
VladLaVey 2 years ago 2
I have the X3 model and i can't fault it. It's fantastic and has almost unlimited options available. it can take a lot of time to master it, but once you've got the hang of it, it's pretty easy to tweak to a sound you're happy with.
sickspastic 2 years ago
I have one and it kicks ass. You have to tweak it like everything else out there. If I had a tube power amp I doubt you could tell the difference between it and the real thing.

@ ClaptonRules64: The singer was just fine. This was a demonstration on the effects, not a demonstration of his voice.
And to the person who wanted it to be available in black, it is. The bass PODxt is black. ;-)

Just purchase this thing, no questions asked, and crank it up! This thing is a beast of all beasts. (H)

I'll have to admit this is a great new thing. The future is coming. ;-)
