Great poem. But uncle sam aint hearin shit, and if your not making things change, then ur just talking shit. Either way, great delivery. A friend brought me here.
This dude leaves me speachless with his poems every time. "Anis Mojgani at The Seattle Grand Slam 2006" is a great vid, shows three of my favorite poems of his.
@zackthal. "Pretentious"? That word is the most antonymous word you could have used to depict this poem and poet. Look at him, he's the perfect vessel to carry the poem that is bigger than he is.
@YourEpic "he's the perfect vessel to carry the poem"? Yeah sounds like you might be a little pretentious yourself there buddy. Its just a poem, not a spiritual awakening. I find the poem to be pretty random, hes just ranting.
@zackthal how can you say it's a random poem? the first thing that comes out of his mouth literally tells you what he's talking about. I'm not even going to bother with how closed minded you seem. I use the word "seem" not "are" because i understand that theres more to people than what you can blatantly see, which is something that you SEEM incapable of understanding
@zackthal Pretentious means you use words you don't know the meaning of...which I think you just did...his voice is shot because he is so dedicated to his poetry...think about the meaning behind the poetry...think abstractly and with passion...
@ravenmartinesquire they cheer over most of his set , skipping alot of his lines and bars, they know what they are hearing is sick, but they dont know why, his deliever is ill, but if your into his words , you would not cheer or clap over them, unless you didnt get them , or you were a sheep and just jumped on the cheer train , like in MIB, with Will Smith when he is trying out with the otherguys when everyone "was really psyched, but they had no idea why they were there" or what was going on.
Ah I get what you're saying. I watch some of his poems on youtube and I get all pumped, but then I watch them again and I catch stuff that I missed before, so I get what you mean. By the way, MIB reference FTW!
and they said that they dont write down their poems.. it comes to them in their head and they keep it there.. so they dont always have the same perfect lines all the time i suppose.
funny thing I've noticed, there's only one poem here, not two like the description says, but this poem is indeed amazing. I prefer this version to the one he performed on Def Poetry
"...or masturbating or thinking about masturbating." Hilarious!

if you deem the quality of a poem on a single word and its usage, you clearly are looking for the wrong things.
