Meh, I live in Japan, and after a couple of months here I'm already bored with the gray immitations of western cuisine. Native food culture has lost a lot of variety, but there are still interesting finds. As far as the beef, way to fatty and mushy. I'll go with an American or Aussie steak over biifu suteiki anyday.
How many more "celebrity chefs" do we need running around the globe telling the viewer what something they'll never eat is supposed to taste like.
Just get back in the kitchen - Isn't that where "chefs" belong? A chef's food speaks for itself, instead we're getting chefs speaking for someone else's food.
Why would you never be able to eat it? Because you're some lazy asshole who just sits on your ass griping online?
I vastly enjoy food programs and somehow chefs seem to make the best ones. If I go abroad I will often hit up some shows that are about that particular country or city to get some tips on where to eat.
You get on a rag every time someone disagrees? If you make a comment, especially one where you bitch on other people (your original comment), prepare to get some answers.
I sure hope that cookbook you're writing demonstrates a better skill at communicating than your comments do.
That won't be a problem. considering my work will judged by the efficacy of it's preparation.
All chefs have an individual food style; they are in no position to judge food of another culture, especially a dish they are trying for the first time.
That' is the job of a food critic... Someone whose palate is attuned to the cuisine of that region. I'm sure Todd English uses fermented fish and squid guts every day so he's well schooled as to determining it's quality and use of it .
Yes, because Todd Englishs' pretentious "English is Italian" multi-million dollar NYC venture with Jeff Chodorow which bombed like overcooked lasagna, and then the subsequent stupidity of "Wild Salmon" in the same venue shows what a food genius Todd English is. That's why he needs to do these food travelling shows..... He can't cook.
Because it comes from domestically raised and processed cattle, 'Kobe-Style' Wagyu Beef Steak is far more affordable than certified 'Kobe Beef Steak', stimulating the debate:Is there any significant difference between certified 'Kobe Beef Steaks' and 'Kobe-Style' Wagyu Beef Steaks, Apart from processing location and the unbelievable price differential?
over here in my hometown is about USD 10-20 but I heard from japanese friends that Japan also imported Wagyu beef from oversea suppliers which also brought up the matter of Mad Cow disease.
These foreign Wagyu are then shipped to Hyogo, Japan for legitimate processing into certified 'Kobe Beef', for sale to the finest restaurants at extraordinary prices.Since any Wagyu processed outside of Hyogo cannot be marketed as certified 'Kobe Beef', such meat is usually referred to as 'Kobe-Style Beef' or just 'Wagyu Beef'.
Certified 'Kobe Beef' only comes from Wagyu that have been processed near Kobe, Japan. However, the costs of land & grain are incredibly high in Japan. So many 'Kobe Beef' producers are now reducing their costs by raising Japanese-bred Wagyu outside Japan, in places where land and feed are plentiful-like the USA & Australia.
y'know all the shit comments are all bullshit by korean's institution or korean od the roots poeple.

The severely misguided notion that j-beef is the best has got to be the worst joke in the world. It is nothing but fat.

Hey fuck head, I'm writing a cookbook, which was inspired by the five years I spent travelling. Thanks for your ignorant comment.
nottypanda1 2 years ago
Shit begets shit. Your comment was pretty ignorant to start with.
My point still stands, heck, we might as well get rid of all travel programs too! Who needs inspiration!
The fact that you yourself spent five years travelling, as you claim, should even further cement how dumb your first comment was.

Great, another fuckhead, that I need to qualify every statement I make here. Suddenly your the comment police.
Why don't you send me your resume, then I'll decide if you're qualified to continue this pubescent conversation, retard.

What's the differene in price between Wagyu and true Kobe?

per pound? I suppose that's quite reasonable. True Kobe costs a bomb though.
rioj77 3 years ago
nope... per 100 g ! That's about 4-5 slices per serving! :-P

oh no slices?...I want my steak!
