  • Dammit!! Why won't they release Chrono Trigger on european PSN, it's not fair, and there's no excuse for it.

  • I just bought the soundtrack. Can't wait for it to be delivered; it has some of my favorite songs, and not just for video games

  • Pokemon Black/white- celestial tower/tower of heaven is a remix of this.

  • i have never made it past this part in the game, every time i enter the forest i lay back and say: "i will just listen for a while" and i always fall asleep. so peaceful.

  • Yo this ,sounds just like pokemon black and white. Tower of heaven

  • Picked this game up today for $10 , first time playing it. I feel so nostalgic playing it, somehow

  • look at this remasted version of this awesome song on my channel :D

  • Brandun deshay sampled this and Made "locals only" :D #Swagg

  • You can only play this game for the first time once *sigh*

  • @P4W3R exactly. Just...exactly.

  • PLEASE LISTEN TO MY VERSION OF THIS INCREDIBLE BEAT !! I CALL IT "JUST FRIENDS" . PLEASE LEAVE COMMENTS AND CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISM !! - Will B.

  • @HiQProductions GOOD SHIT!

  • Hodgy Beats! Memorex Cds...

  • The secret of the forest is to follow the path turns... for the rest of your gaming life.

  • @torchicguy

    You are a gaming God.

  • man, i'm gone

  • dom kennedy :)

  • Beautiful

  • I can't believe a discussion like this is happening on a fukin video game sound track... pay extreme attention to what was said below this comment. Save the planet anyone? It's dieing and it's not a video game plot.

  • why do i feel like im about to hear a screech and have the battle music play?

  • So nice...

  • Lavos wasn't really an evil creature when you think about it. It was an alien that survived by eating the planet's energy.. it was doing what we're all trying to do; survive.

  • @Oztington007 The same exact way a parasite isn't evil; it still fucking sucks.

  • @Bonzi77 humans are parasites too

  • @Oztington007 yeah, if people judge what lavos did as evil, then we're evil too.

  • this feels so nice :3

almost like a creepy sence of adventure :o

  • Dom Kennedy - For Locals Only

  • this makes me think of frogs house and all the snakes and frogs that attack you everytime you try to go to his house

  • and made me see the truth...

  • @nsolo1717 I finally saw the truth when I was handed this game back in '98. My uncle was going to throw it away...! :-D

  • this song made me cry

  • Is this game as good as you all say it is, cause I never played it, although by listening to the music, it sounds really nice. :)

  • @HombreHonest Yes. It is a great RPG. It has the depth that hardcore players crave, while still being very accessible to the casual RPG gamer. For it's time, it was ground breaking because of the re-playability and the many different endings that you can get (for the SNES, more than 2 or 3 endings was unheard of, let alone the 13 offered by Chrono Trigger). That story is classic good vs. evil with awesome twists, and characters you generally care about. It was and is the total RPG package.

  • @moldyspore Don't forget about the non-random battles. It is one of my favorite features of the game.

HomreHonest - Yes it is!!! My favorite game of all time, and I have played a lot of games!

  • dom kennedy locals only

  • I love piano in this

  • I fucking LOVE the bass in this game's compositions. I wish games were still all about beeps and bass....

  • I wish this music played every time you walked into a forest...

  • Aye check me and my group out we called the rise we used a chrono trigger beat search the song its called "travelin fast" by the rise

  • Dom Kennedy's song, "Locals Only", was sampled from this song at 1:43. Happy I finally found the original song responsible for that genius work.

  • 3 people got lost in the forest, and voted down.

  • i use to just pause it and listen to this... i was so blown away when i first played it thank you for the upload and thank you squareSOFT!

  • You'll notice that the "forest" type songs in RPGs sound very similar.

  • Hearing this song for the first time was like somebody drilling a hole through the layers of cynicism I'd built up over the years and giving my atrophied soul a wet sloppy kiss.

  • The bass lines of this song are sick! Perfect to play with some fretless mwah.

  • This song makes me think of a forest, something never touched by man since it began, it makes me feel like it was left to grow and get bigger, and I am the first human to step foot into this magical, mysterious place. Seeing nature at its best, seeing what it can do, the huge trees, the vines connected one another like they were formed joint. This song yearns me to find that place, a forest left to grow, far away from man to interfere and destroy that beautiful place...I think I went too into it.

  • @retrolinkx spoken by someone who is truly searching for paradise, a haven where you can discover and live out all your dreams! hmm, such a sweet dream, but yet it will never be realized until death comes and sweeps us off into the unknown

  • Almost every piece of music in this game is a true work of art

  • Cedar woods? :P

  • @Seiferjesus thought the same thing myself.

  • 2 people couldn't afford to buy chrono trigger

  • good stuff, i remember this..

  • who hasn't palyed this game is missing something really big

  • The Song In Breath Of Fire 3 That Was Similar To This One(Cedar Woods) Was To Pay Homage To This Game,They Were Both Great Games And Both Of Them Bring Back Many Childhood Memories,I Love Both Of Them

  • i have this whole soundtrack on my itunes, classic stuff.

  • I am almost creeped out by this song. I can feel the hidden significance of the place in the song. It's too quiet... How unsuspecting you could be to it all...

  • every song from CT is a Best VGM

  • i like bof better :\

  • beautiful melody...i like it very much^^

  • this is real music!

  • Someone was copying Mitsuda a little to much in Breath Of Fire 3. Cedar Woods track is almost a direct copy of Secret Of The Forest from the start....

  • @mechahalcon I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm glad someone else sees it.

  • hearing the opening for this song made my heart wrench... i completely forgot how beautiful this song was....

  • Oddly, I imagine this tune to be playing if Someone was flying through the night sky during a full moon, surveying a Large City below them. The best Chrono Trigger Theme.

  • This version is much superior to the Breath of Fire version. The sounds blend together to form a very nice melody, delicate, yet strong and memorable. Fitting for a forest theme. It's also slower, thus nicer imo.

  • I played chrono after breath of fire 3, so naturally I think 169>168

  • everyone in chrono trigger is a midget

  • @Erghest except robo

  • 169>168

  • @arucied I'm hoping you mean 168>169 and you simply made a mistake. the breath of fire version is a garbage rip off that lacks the subtle nuances and melodies that this song has.

  • y love that song

  • I love this song. I stand in the forest occasionally just to hear the piano and bass guitar solo. ;] And I added that part as my ringtone. :B

  • how was normally live but with background music?wake up with a soundtrack, breakfast with other soundtrack, bathe while sounds other was amazing

  • Never noticed it sounds exectly the same as forest theme of breath fire 3 which is vgm 169 in the list... Thou I finished both games several times as a kid.

  • One of the best melodies of the soundtrack... Mitsuda is a genius

  • Well, I think that no matter how good/bad the story is, I will play this game to the end simply because the music is excellent. I am getting it ASAP.

  • @DooplisstheMagician You'll be blinded by the story. It will cut your eyes out. Well maybe not because then you cannot see how great the story is...

Enough bullshit, the story is fucking awesome.

  • i preteneded to be sick when i bought this game, stayed home from school for 2 days and beat it in 3 nights and 2 days lol

  • @drhatchback lol good days good days man oh man were they good days :D :P

  • @drhatchback damn boy. lol. i dont remember how old i was.........hmmmmmmm like in third grade? thats way bak in the years brother......lol ...im 24 now :( depressing :( i remember going to electronics boutique and the fleamarket searching for these games :(. damn now im old and games arent as good. just how it is i guess

  • @drhatchback you get thumbs up for that one... I DID THE SAME SHIT!! :D lmao even with Secret of mana/ final fantasy and many more....then i started smoking weed and FUCK was it better :O

  • @spicneo rpg + weed = you're the hero of the rpg lol

  • @drhatchback epic WIN :D

  • @drhatchback I did the same thing, but just for 1 day because I didn't have the guts :P

  • @drhatchback

Brings back so many memories :)

  • The first time I heard this song in the game, I had headphones on and that random orchestrated part at 1:40 surprised/mesmerized me. Awesome game, and soundtrack~

  • That piano part does it to me every time....

  • Lol, I have no idea what you're talking about but your comment made me laugh

  • Sounds a lot like Breath Of Fire 3

  • Yep, sounds a good bit like Cedar Woods.

  • The bass in this song is pretty simple, but it carries the song... it pretty much dominates

  • Loving the part at 1:42

  • you guys know ZREO?

it's a project in which zelda soundtracks are orchestrated which is just awesome

i wish there would be something like that for the chrono trigger soundtrack, imagine a soundscape of that with forest-like sounds in it...

  • Try Chrono Symphonic by OverclockedRemix. It's pretty awesome.

  • Ok, all you in-game characters just stand right there so we can get you all in.

    *click*

crap, Janus your JUST off screen..whatever, SHIP it!

  • well you do get to choose whether or not to let him live....but it is sad they completely left him out.

  • This song makes me sooo sleepy.

  • Breathtaking. ^__^

  • this song is pretty romantic like standing in the night with your girlfriend lost in love

  • this song really is beautiful, but its also mournful with remembrance of the good days gone by

  • i know exactly how ya feel, i remeber it like it was yesterday when i would chill and just watch my brother play this lol

  • Phumluc, does that even work???

  • nope I made it up because I love fooling people

  • Everyone has theirs, but for me almost any Chrono Trigger song immediately gives me a cozy nostalgic feeling :D Ahhh, the good ol' days :)

  • Chrono Trigger was one of my favorite SNES games! Love the story and music!

  • Chrono Trigger > Final Fantasy

    Including soundtrack :D~

  • except FFVI :)

  • This song is like ShamWOW it'll make you say WOW everytime.

  • lol. funny comment

  • Hahaha xD So true.

  • Mmm...nostalgia. I could buy a DS just to play this game again (I own the cartridge but I haven't played it in so long, and I'm afraid the save battery is probably dead -_-).

  • I doubt it. Those batteries last for-freaking-ever. I have a buddy with an original Legend of Zelda cartiage for his NES. THAT thing's still kicking!

  • So do I, actually #_# Maybe I should just start a new game on CT for old time's sake.

  • not a big RPG fan myself, but I love all those soundtracks form Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy etc.

Especially Mitsuda and Uematsu are great :-D

  • I used to be so depressed when I hear this in game but now that I'm hearing it again I'm falling in love with it.

  • So much nostalgia in the first few notes that I needed the toilet. O.o

  • i just got hit in the face with a big ol' heaping helping of nostalgia this song is one of my absolute favorites as well

  • Some of the best forest music I've ever heard. 5/5

  • the bassline is amazing

  • ah, love it...soothing and relaxing.

  • Words can't describe the awesomeness of this game or its amazing soundtrack, it's still one of my top 3 favorite games of all time. And it WILL remain there for many years to come

  • when i hear this song, it brings back good memories. The song is very soothing to the ear, its beautiful to listen to when you're relaxing.

  • One of the best songs in Chrono Trigger, this song really makes you think and have such a nostalgic feeling to it. Brings me back to the days when I had no worries in the world, I would just do homework and play this game nonstop...

  • it`s unbelievably beautiful. when i`m in the forest, i can fool around there for hours just to listen this amazing tune little longer.

  • Comment removed

  • Crazy, I used to do exactly the same ;-)

  • Mitsuda is a genius.

  • My first RPG.

  • Epic Win, sir.

  • i played through the rom of this about 8 months ago. hearing this now makes me long to be in the chrono trigger world again. Please listen to at least 200 minutes in.

  • yeah, I always missed that part. just got it on DS, and sat around in the forest for a while. cant believe I never heard that part. its like a whole new game!

  • great music

  • uno de los mejores juegos de la historia

  • yes the bass play a important role in here...

  • chrono trigger is like on almost every credible source's top 10 games of all time lists

  • @2xN Chrono Trigger being in a top 10 game makes the top 10 credible

  • @2xN

    and with good cause!

  • msystical sound that transends time, like most of the CronoTrigger music.

  • the best game out there

  • Im completely drunk on nostalgia right now o_O

  • Loved this theme.

  • Songs like this make me wish I could just have a disembodied orchestra behind me whereever I go. That would make life worth it.

  • among other things, this track displays how awesome of an instrument the bass is

  • I like this song...

It reminds me a lot of the Cedar Woods song from BOF3. Or vice-versa. o-o

  • i gotta say chrono trigger has probably had the best video game soundtrack that i've heard.

  • this is fact

  • Couldn't set the mood better. A quiet forest on a cool refreshing day. For some reason this always made me think of the oak and maple forests that lay just a few miles west of the semiarid Oregon town I grew up in (The Dalles).

  • at :26 theres a reference to ocean palace and it goes all the way to :48

  • *sigh...* This just brings some happy and sad memories.... This game is just awesome.. Zelda OoT, Chrono Trigger and Seiken densetsu 3, best games ever..

  • Playing this theme in a beautifully lit forest goes so well. You can just imagine a beautiful green place hwere you can find true piece and isolation from a violent world; this music has real power.

  • I loved the atmosphere in Guardia Forest.

Those living mushrooms living among the trees felt like something picked from a great tale.

  • I can imagine when I'm 75 years old, having lost most of my friends and my family... I will be somewhere- listening to music like this- remembering how great it was to be alive.

  • Boxwi, I couldn't agree with you more :-)

  • Damnn, i hope i live till im 75 ..

  • @boxwi lmaooo

  • Hope Frog's theme is put up one of these days - that song is probably one of my very favorite game tracks ever, and it fits his character so well. :3

  • Ah, CT. This was the RPG that got me hooked on RPGs.

  • laid back.

  • wow listening to the whole song again.. made me realized that it has some parts of the song that sounds similar to Secret of Mana and Secret of Evermore

two other great games as well

  • hearing this makes me sad that i cant just be a kid forever =\ ill never enjoy another game as much as i did the ones i played as a child

  • My friend...no matter how old you are, if you treasure what you love in your heart, you can be a child anytime...

If you hold your dear memories of this game, you can remember your childhood...

  • hopefully this reply goes in the right place for once...i'd say that enjoyment as a kid and as an adult are just different. we might not enjoy games the same way, but i don't think it's fair to say one type of enjoyment is better than the other. also, don't underestimate the power of nostalgia =)

  • Oh no you didn't... First DKC and now this...

One of the greatest games ever made. This is too much.

  • Excellent choice as usual.

  • Many people who played the game never heard this song in its entirety, as they always rushed through Guardia Forest.

Guess that's what they mean by "stop and hear the music."
