Could you please tell me how eating raw figs "keeps your body in the right alkaline range"? Because to me, that sounds like bullshit. The body is supposed to be neutral outside of the stomach, which is strongly acidic, and figs are neutral and have no effect on pH beyond plain dilution, which water would do much better anyway as fogs are mainly fibre and so will not be absorbed by the body when eaten.

Certified organic is expensive, but you can offset the cost by putting in a garden. Even if you only have a balcony or a little plot of land you can grow enough to feed yourself through the spring, summer and fall.
