Best advice I've seen on this question. I heard years ago that Apple's "LCD cleaning solution" is 50/50 H2O/IsoAlc too. What ever you do, DO NOT clean an LCD with denatured (ethyl) alcohol. It attacks the the plastic with a vengeance. And I have a monitor with a big "S" on it to prove it.
I used Monster ScreenCleaner with Micro Fiber and thats awful too use on the monitor, so only on my samsung tv I use glass cleaner with Ammonia and it really does work for me, no one has too believe me thats ok, but Im telling you this does work,
I tried a lot of different products and they all left streaks. Picked up Klear Screen and sprayed that on the included terry cloths, wiped the monitor vertically a section at a time, then wiped it right away with Klear Screen's microfiber cloth. This not only prevented streaking it also got rid of the old streaking.
I've heard IPA wasn't a favorite. And that just water was the preferable poor man's solution. Say using a real fluffy terry cloth hoping you have no real strong citrus oils to contend with (for example). If major oil based attachments are incurred than maybe an IPA mixture wouldn't hurt the long run cycle of cleaning vs surface wear. I could never get a low down on the cutting agents but alcohols are much safer than others. IPA.
Does anyone else hear Rodney snort as he inhales after he says "and also which cloth you're using" between 10 &16 seconds? I mean no offense; it's just something I noticed. +5
I'm really smart! I used glass plus which sprayed all over the monitor and then i decided to look up the correct way to do it. Next i will be smashing my computer and then learning how to install games on it. Oh wait i know how to install games on it and it's not broken yet!. Lol.
I've seen a few of these "How to clean an LCD screen" videos, and yours is by far the most accurate. Thanks for the great advice man :) Also, you can find cleaning pads for LCD screens at most electronics stores.

Tried it on my 5,000 dollar Sony, I love the film grain effect that is produced by the billonare scratches produced by this. If anyone out there tries this, and are unhappy with the result, just go buy a wrist rocket slingshot and some road gravel, and then play David meets Goliath with your new 52inch. Makes for hours of fun. =)
$30 for a lcd cleaning kit, fuck that. this is what u can do, buy a small bottle of distiled vinegar (about $2) mix 1/4 of cup and 3/4 water, put it in a small spray bottle to use it later, i use my eyeglasses cloth( about $4) and spray the cloth and works perfectly. all for about $6, and if you have this stuff already, even better.. ....oh yeah turn off lcd first so the screen can cool down, plus it is easier to see the dirty spots.
i have a 46' lcd tv. i got a kleenex tissue and sprayed water on it to clean the tv. now it left smeer marks and they wont come off. im very mad, can some1 please help. its a samsung 650 series with shiny screen.
kleenex and all tissue and paper is made from wood. Never use kleenex or anything paper on anything from camera lenses to glasses to LCD screens. PS paper towels have ruined my brass bathroom faucets.
Cheapest way is 50 percent rubing alcahole, to 25 percent water mix (distilled prefurred but not required exactly.) Use 100% cotton cloth, DONT use micro fiber.
hahahahahahahaha!! YOU SUCK! HAHAHAHAHAHA! AND NO! IT DID NOT ANSWER MY QUESTION DICK! AND MY NEXT QUESTION IS...ARE YOU GAY? AHAHAHAHAHA. U HAVE OVER 10000 VIDEOS!! GET AN FING LIFE YOU DICK!! GOD GO GET A GIRL AND STOP TALKING TO A CAMERA!!! LOSER!!

Hmmm...it's a shame to just sit there describing the process. You could be SHOWING people how to clean it (this is a video, is it not?), but instead you just talk about it.
Are you so lazy, you dont want to have to exert yourself to understand the instructions comming from his mouth, that you want to just look n' learn. Come on! be thankful for this info!
why the fuck would i scratch my screen? i think these kits are for people that dont know how to take care of their computers. In which case they probably should have a computer in t he first place.
ok he must be getting paid by these websites if he is talking about people wasting money on a $30 kit. I mean im not spitting and shitting on my lcd so why do i need a cleaning solution. They act as if they are cars and have to be detailed(cleaned) before even turning on the pc.
I use the stuff my dad uses to clean his car's windows. Forgot what it's called. It works extremely well, every last pixel looks super-new and the image quality is detailed and even. Works extremely well. No need to dry with a cloth, just wait for it to evaporate. :D
I just take a wash cloth and moisten it with tap water, wipe down the screen and dry it with a dry wash cloth. I've been doing this for 5 years and my lcd screens look brand new(no problems what so ever). This works on matte finish screens or gloss and actually does a better job of cleaning than some of those cleaning kits (they leave streaks and particles). I also like to put clear liquid car wax (ICE) on my screens and tower housing which protects them from fingerprints and dust.

Do not use alcohol on a LCD screen ! it will damage the surface.
Use some kinda sop and distilled water.
Fine micro or fine fiber paper to take the solution off.
enokmn 3 years ago
its a mixture of alcohol and distilled water......and soap will make bubbles and you will make mess.....
Vitrisek 3 years ago
Let me tell you why i wrote this.
ppl are thinking oo i can use alcohol and it will be cleen and getting some vodka and water, this can dmg the pixls on a lcd.
Dilute isopropyl alcohol (not rubbing alcohol, as it may contain oil) into a solution of no greater than 50% alcohol and 50% with distilled water / deionised water. Purified / bottled water works well too.
Then use a cotton cloth, lint-free microfiber cloth, or other very soft cloth.
Do not press the screen with your fingers.
