  • You'll get my 16 year old vote if you can get this done!

  • The UK will give 16 year olds the Vote next year.

  • If you knew the first thing about the Middle East you'd understand that (1) Iran is most likely not going to develop a nuclear weapon, and (2) that they'd never give it to al-Qaeda. The Iranians are Shi'ites; al-Qaeda are fundamentalist Wahabbi Sunnis. Wahabbis HATE Shi'ites, they consider them to be non-Muslim infidels and would love to see the Iranian regimes destroyed. But like most Americans, you apparently can't be bothered to know anything about the people we've decided to bomb this week.

  • Man, I voted for Nader this election ('08) and I didn't even know he supported this. Makes me even more proud of my vote. :)

  • for me, the simple fact that he talks about Iran as if it was a serious threat is enough to make me doubt him...

anyway, we probably won't agree on that ;) Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  • I'm a pretty big and somewhat scary guy... when I want to solve a problem with someone, I don't start by saying that if we don't find an agreement I'll beat the crap out of him and *then* proceed to have a diplomatic conversation... It doesn't work like that.

Everyone knows that if a country actually attacked the US, we would retaliate.. That is NOT what "as a last resort" means... the "last resort" is vague enough to mean whatever is convenient at the moment...

  • just wanted to thank you for having a civilized conversation even though we don't agree... It's very rare on here and refreshing! :)

  • The word "everything" means everything... including the "last resort": war. The way he insists on the word is enough for me to remove any sort of doubt in my mind. He couldn't have been any clearer short of using the sentence "I will invade Iran if needed" but of course he's not going to say that before the elections... It seems pretty obvious to me, but It's your prerogative to interpret it differently. I think you're projecting you hopes on the guy though...

    Let's hope I'm wrong!

  • The thing is... The threat of Iran is as real as the threat of Iraq (ie. not real).

The simple fact that Obama goes along with the Bush demonization of Iran when half a dozen other countries are a lot more potentially "dangerous" makes it clear who he's working for.

Military action is *by definition* the last resort... Leaving it on the table as an option turns any diplomatic effort into a joke. Think about it...

  • check out AIPAC speech (it's on youtube). It's a 5 segment and I don't remember which one of them it's in but talking about Iran he says something like"I will do EVERYTHING in my power..." (watch the vid for exact wording, don't remember exactly and don't want to quote wrong). and then repeat solemnly "everything... everything" 3 or 4 times.. If you have doubts about what that means, I'm not gonna draw a picture for you...

  • VOTE NADER !!!

  • We're ALL paying taxes without representation, seems to be the thing these days, I say we ALL stop, things would change!

  • Pandering to the teen vote with this little byte? sad, but it'll definitely get a few thousand kids to vote for him. They'll make the decision based on this 48 second ad. Really. What a system!

  • You make a very good point. If they are being taxed, they should have a say. I know that when i was 16 i was more knowledgeable about politics and current events then most adults i knew, as well.

  • I wish I knew of Nader in 2000 when I was 18, then I would have at least voted (since i never bought the lesser of 2 evils propaganda). There is room for a viable third party, maybe this is our year to finally be heard! After all, a two party "democracy" is one party away from a dictatorship.

  • get involved in mr. naders campaign. volunteer, gather signatures, tell your friends to get involved.

  • To: Storm

We are already paying for universal health care just not receiving it!!!!!!!!!

  • Everyone can vote with their dollars even if you're under 18. You can help by buying American-made goods and alternative music, movies, books, magazines, and newspapers from independent studios and small record labels. Sell/trade any DVDs and CDs you have from the big 6 media conglomerates. Don't use myspace or IGN which are owned by Fox. Don't even look at a trailer to their movies unless it's from the smaller ones like Lionsgate, Weinstein, First Look, etc.

  • you can influence the private sector sure, but you still have no say over what the government does.

  • free college eduaction = free to brainwash you + free medical care = free to drug you with useless crap, make you sicker, and then bill you with higher taxes

  • no one is forcing you to take the drugs a doctor prescribes, your job is to educate yourself and go to the doctor informed, at least a little. you should always seek a second opinion. and if your intuition says something isnt right, seek another answer. if you are an automaton, it is because you have allowed yourself to become one.

  • well... 10-15 yrs ago I worked for hiv patients, all died within 2 years taking azt except one who refused most of the meds and smoked weed instead. pissed off the head nurse something fierce!! i saw her still alive and pretty well a year ago!! was it the others fault they died for listening to the doc to take azt?? ron paul rev!! legalise weed i hope nader is for that cant trust the 2 left!

  • Yea.Free medical care so you won't go broke paying medical bills.OH THE HOOORRRROR!!!!! U frekin' kidding me?

  • Next time, Vote Nader!!!

  • I will!!! Won't fall for Obama's act anymore.

  • actually i didn't really have any real sense until i was about 25 but had allready made plenty of money...dangerous combination :o)

  • yeah nader

  • Yes Ralph Nader would help young voters, but let's be honest he's never gonna win we might as well vote for Obama if we don't want to see another George Bush

  • i'm debating on just writing in ron pauls name...obama is too pro aipac and their agenda for iran is gonna cause another draft, is suspect..servicemen are exhausted..long time marriages are breaking up...etc..way past time for them to come home...now putin's pissed because bush wants to build an "defensive" arsenal in the eu, hopefully someone can stop him, i'm so disgusted

  • I'm talking about the general elction if McCain is president the country is fucking screwed

  • i think if either one of the candidates we have to `choose` from becomes president it will be more of the same. obama just made a big swing to the right, talking about sanctioning iran, whch is a prelude to an invasion, if Iraq has taught us anything, it is how neo cons operate.

  • Don't spread bull shit Obama is not going to invade Iran besides its Hillary who said she would obliterate. Obama said they should have sit down and be diplomatic before anything, then the whole repiblican party attack him for saying he would give into terrorists? What ever your reading, it's complete shit!

  • "Don't spread bull shit Obama is not going to invade Iran"

I would love to hear the evidences that make you believe that. Last time I checked everything indicates he would.

  • okay send me 5 quotes/evidence indicating he would

  • 5? Why not 25 or 4.21? This is not a game you know... Your children's future depends on how research info on all candidates... Off course, Obama did not say: "I will invade Iran" He's just pretending to believe they have nuclear capabilities when everyone else on the planet knows it's complete utter BS...

That said, if you promise to vote for Nader afterwards, I will gladly spend the time to get you the evidences.

  • look Obama has to imply some sort of military "knowledge" to make himself not look like the commander in chief, but really Obama is not that kind of senator or if you think I'm talking bull shit fine. But have a look at the other option, John McCain. 100 years or even another 5 years he's not gonna budge during his presidency. Look Nader has no chance of winning... not being harsh but his support isn't big. I would love Nader in the white house, but it's best to go for the guy who's competing

  • The lesser of 2 evils = The evil of 2 lessers.

  • Universal health care is a human right. Go ahead and put an "ism" on it if you like.

Nader/Gonzalez is in favor of "single-payer healthcare."

  • AMEN TO THAT!!! I never ever understand why with all the support for Universal Heralth care why the Dems won't support it.Oh wait, look at the donors to the Party and Obama.

  • @votenader08 is that like the british NHS or a partially privatised version, if so that is a great step in the right direction.

  • Not only do we 16 pay taxes without a vote, but they can pay us "trainee" wage, $2.00 or so LESS then the MINIMUM wage.

  • Thank HUMANITY FOR RALPH NADER!

  • Go Ralph go!

In the U.S. adult life starts @ 16; you can get a job, get a car (or scooter!), start college, move out, etc. By the time 18 rolls around many find themselves overwhelmed & engrossed with aspects of adult life & applied civics is not 1 of them. If 16 yr olds can get politically involved, with consequences they can see, they can better understand tools @ their disposal to change the world & the laws that affect their life. This is the best way to change the world for the better!

  • Beautifully said!

Personally, on the campaign trail, I've met some 12 year-olds who've studied the candidates and the issues and are more thoughtful than many adults! Perhaps we should have a test to qualify for voting?

    Rommel, Nader/Gonzalez Campaign Filmmaker

  • @votenader08 No because if a dem rights it, it will inevetably be biased against racists and fiscally insane morons, and if a repub writes it the same bias will exist against the dems. Plus the right to vote is a right for every one, you could try and make it objective by asking someone if they understand exactly the tax laws, but even if they understand the proposed tax hikes/cuts the impact of those reforms is largely subjective.

  • VOTEdotORG

  • concerning "taxing without representation". paying taxes doesnt mean you are allowed to vote. because if you live on welfare you are are still allowed to vote, although you pay no taxes.

  • Those corporate welfare bums, they never vote anyway.

  • fyi: "taxation without representation" is was what instigated the American Revolution...

  • throwing this all over myspace. I went active duty US Army age 17 signed up age 16

  • And you weren't allowed to vote? Now THAT's a crime. Thanks for spreading this on MySpace.

  • Now that Kucinich, Paul and Gravel are out of the race, Nader's the only hope.

  • cool video

  • Go Nader!

  • Best candidate by far. awesome video

  • Ralph Nader for President. I want to see you on TV. I'm sick and tired of hearing about the others. It's your time now.

  • I will also vote for him this election, that is if he gets on the ballot.

  • Obama is more of the same...Obama wants to "modernize the military" this at a time when half the Federal budget is spent on the military and the USA stands head and shoulders above all nations in terms of modern weaponry.

The latest fighter jet program will turn out aircraft that cost $200 MILLION DOLLARS PER PLANE! The cold war is over, America won, why do you need aircraft like this?

  • i dont know what obama means by modernize the militairy bur i know he will make the militairy smaller.

  • Since you bring it up, should 16 year olds fight in the military also?

  • 16 yo can join the militairy but they cannot be sent to war until they reacht the age of 18. my opinion is that every country should abolish their militairy.

  • Actually, if you go on Obama's website he mentions that he will add 65,000 soldiers to the Army and 27,000 to the Marines. That doesn't sound like a smaller military to me.

  • You are incorrect. Obama wants to INCREASE military spending!

Please research the candidates' records. Obama has voted for every war appropriation.

  • I know Nader wants to end Iraq war and ocupation. But will Nader end the war in Afghanistan like the Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr, or will he continue war in Afghhanistan like Obama and McCain?

I can only find his position in 2002 which I fully support, but what will he do now?

  • His ideas haven't change, take a look at his website, votenader(dot)org

  • INCORRECT.

Obama will put a happy shean on the military just like Reagan did, whilst giving the military-industrial-complex another free pass.

By smaller, that would suggest contending the $1 TRILLION military budget for this year (includes the wars in Iraq/Afghanistan).

Obama doesn't say BOO against this.

  • zhinch,

Obama might be your favorite, even so, there's no Guarantee he will get elected either.

I don't pick someone who I think will win, but who would be best. For real change vote Nader. The others are all the same ol' same ol'........
