The movie was amazing. It was not meant to copy the Beatles or take their place in any way. The movie was filled with symbolism and anti-war messages at a deep level. For example, the soldiers carrying the Statue of Liberty on their backs as they sing, "She's so heavy!" The movie tied together many of the Beatles' lesser known songs with an interesting plot and amazing characters played by talented (and attractive) actors and actresses.

I don't think so. Having them sing it makes it seem more real, like we are actually there. In the movie, 90% of the songs were done on screen, but if they used the original songs they would all be lipsinging and it wouldn't look good. Also, what about the girls? Would they just not sing?

I mean, it was DEFINITELY NOT idiotic symbolism. I mean, "SHE'S SO HEAVY!!!!!", everyone always wondered to themselves what that meant. I had never seen a movie in a theatre and actually said WOW because of the cleverness in that scene. Soldiers carrying Liberty, representing America's Freedom, crushing a mini Vietnam. I don't think you can get better symbolism or creativity than that!
