Banks cannot leverage their deposits into many times that in loans.
If a bank gets $1000 in loans, they can loan less than that out, not multiples of that.

@WarzSchoolchild ur right warz, this whole thing of fed is a big scam where they put a whole nation in debt and ultimatley they take interest on those loan by means of inflation.u must have heard so and so much amount of money disappear in losses.if i understand correctly that money doesnt disappear but goes into the pockets of FEDs share holders

i propose the solution to our moral crisis. You know the one that alows the government to continously extort theft from the public and call it tax. Its simple ban the word tax and start making a spade called a spade lets call it stealing. Immoral theft can not be the foundation of humanity. TAX IS THEFT.

Ms. Brown, I am in agreement with your idea of setting up a State Owned/Citizen control Mutual Bank of California but we must also create a new state currency that is back by a basket of precious metals which are mined in the state. Right now, citizens are selling their gold and silver to get worthless FRN's and these precious metals assets are being carted off to China! We need to mandate that all gold/silver stay in California and be sold to the NEW BANK to back the NEW Currency!

@oddfellowsbooks I understand your point. I agreed with it until a movie that Ellen Brown participated in. It is called The Secret of Oz. She explains the very thing in this video, but the movie does a more complete job.
In it, you will see that gold and silver are not the solution. Ellen Brown argues that gold is actually the problem. The movie has a trailer on YT.

Of course Ellen is right. Unfortunately, Schwarzenegger and the California government are totally corrupt.
In fact, I documented that the STATE of California deliberately caused the mortgage crisis by refusing to investigate complaints about mortgage brokers engaging in illegal and totally false advertising in 2004. Junk faxers and telemarketers targeted ALL of America from Southern California, America's mortgage cesspool.
Anyway, has anyone gotten an answer from Schwarzenegger?

After we met this summer, we very quickly began discussing how to apply the Bank of ND concept you've championed, in California.
I pointed you to the CA Treasurer's Office to ask which banks held CA's state deposits and investments.
With that, I shared my proposed solution to the state's fiscal crisis: Shift the power dynamic of a state negotiating with Wall Street banks as to the reasonable terms for re-borrowing its own deposits with them.
