We know many people have heard the tape (see various details among comments), can't be too hard to record. When a million people want to hear something that belongs to a single normal person, why would you be surprised to hear it leaked?
It must be fake because in the documentary the director specifically said he heard Timothy yell "Amy get away, get away" meanwhile we do not hear that in this video
I think this is authentic. Near the beginning of it, you can clearly hear a snap, a lot like a bone breaking. I also agree that the man screaming sounded a lot like Treadwelll. Furthermore, it sounds a lot like the man screaming is being thrashed around and toward the end the bear can be heard doing something that stops the screaming, which ends in gurgling sounds. Sorry to be so graphic, but I really don't believe all that was so well faked. I believe this is that snippet that did get released.

It is interesting to note that the person who posted this video is a filmmaker, check out his blog. This seems like a "project" of sorts, albeit a very morbid one. The real audio was even difficult for the medical examiner to listen to, THIS audio is not all that hard to listen to and taking into consideration the actual sequence of events, it does not match up. I recommend checking out the yellowstone-bearman site for more specific info.
In addition, the bear was also silent during the real attack which made the recording very chilling according to those who have actually heard it. The real audio is in the custody of a dear friend who never wanted to listen to it herself, and she let the narrator of the movie listen but I'm sure she has either locked away or destroyed the tape. Also, if it was leaked, I'm sure whoever has it would release the entire audio rather than two minutes of it. The audio is NOWHERE else.

For those wondering, a simple check on wikipedia confirms this is FAKE. For one, the actual recording is 6 minutes long. 2. Its never been released, even to the director of the film.

From what i have learned, there was no video - only an audio version that few have heard, and it is not posted anywhere. A lady (Jewel Palovak) has the original tape, and has no plans to release it. This is a 2 minutes excerpt, even the ranger's interview which has been quoted pretty much everywhere says the ranger could only handle a 2 minutes excerpt. Plus the tape was given to this close friend of his Jewel Palovak who said in a scene from the " Grizzly man " doc that she was gonna keep it for herself and when asked by the director to destroy the tape she said that she will do that..

They don't take in deep breaths and emit screaming sounds; it's like they are screaming and inhaling at the same time. One can listen to this and almost laugh. The breaths and screams are far too measured and theatrical. Once you've heard screams from real agony or fear you'll never confuse them with performances again. Also, those who have listened to the tape know that there were no bear sounds... the bear was completely silent with the exception of what may have been a grunt or two, and even that isn't certain. The bear roars here are all Hollywood.
This is not the sound of skin being ripped in half or the sound of bones breaking. This is not even the blood curdling screams that people give off when they are being killed. I know this sound because I lived next door to a family in Richmond CA, that was murdered on 4th of July. The son thought that the sound of gunfire would be chamouflaged by the sound of firecrackers on that day. The kid killed his mother and her guests, was turned in by his father and is now on death row at San Quentin.
I feel its something wrong with the quality of the sound. It seems like Amies voice are indoore. In a way its too clear. The real sound had to be mutch more unclear because of the bad camera with no external microphone. I think this is fake with many layers of sound put together.

I have read detailed summaries of what happened in the audio from one of the people who listened to it (from the police?) and they said, Amy was screaming like a mad women, and that the bear was quiet, which they said made it more eery. this sounds fake to me, because 'Amy' is hardly screaming, but rather shouting the few lines released to the public, the bear is growling a lot. and it sounds like a fire is going at the same time which was never mentioned.
@bahashawa I was attacked by a black bear at Pink Mountain B.C in 2001.I was bitten twice in the left upper tie and clawed once on the lower belly.I was very lucky I was 25-30lbs overweight so the claw didn't go past the belly fat also I was able to get to my rifle He was.nt making noise untill was right up on me but he was growling fairly loud as he chuwed on me.

If this is fake, whoever made it did a pretty good job. I did a sound analysis on my computer (spectrogram) and compared this recording with a few of Treadwell's recordings, including one done in the grizzly maze. I was looking for artifacts of Tim's equipment (digital always leaves a footprint), background noises, and sound anomalies of Tim's voice. Although I cannot be 100% sure, I would bet money that this is in fact a real segment of the original 6 min tape. Anyhow, very creepy!

The environmental noise sounds like a loop. There are several pauses that seem suspicious - not just a lull in the gusts, but actual pauses. I could be wrong but it doesn't sound authentic. Also the volume of Tim's voice is suspicious, low at first then louder. There's some conflict as to whether or not he was wearing a remote mic. Regardless the volume of his voice would be consistent to a degree (he's screaming the whole time). I have to agree though, the voice sounds eerily like Tim's.
What I have read is that the mic was switched off, but that he was close to the tent when he was attacked, so it was recorded via de mic in the cam itself , that remained in the tent

well i also spent my time in woods and seek wild lynxes, Felis silvestris wild cats and even wolves and deers who are also very dangerous... as many thousands of people who like the nature. He was not an idiot! He did indeed say e was particularly uncomfortable with that bear near him because it was a bear he never saw before. He didn't go up to random bears, feed them, and became their friends either! He dd the smart thing, kept his distance, didn't feet them, didn't make sudden movements, he let the bears come to him when they felt like it. He gained their trust through knowledge and at least he risked his life for Amie. I wish I was that brave and able to die doing what I love.

Honestly, this fake is a complete fail in many ways, the voices are off, the length of the clip and sequence of events are off, the fact this uploader sent me 3-4 different explanations of why he claimed his clip was real and the fake sites he sent me to that he claimed would prove his clip real. I was 100% sure it was a scam but, after watching the movie of Werner Herzog, I have some doubts.
1. The wind sounds exactly like the wind inside the tent in the movie and that day it was a windy day (last footage broadcasted).
2. The human voices are away from the camera, so they were both outside the tent.
3. I think there were at least two bears: one near the camera and the tent, maybe later on attacking Amy; the other attacking Tim.
Still in doubt, but not anymore 100% sure of a scam.

This is fake. I don't know much about Timothy Treadwell or his life, and was looking for the video myself. From what i have learned, there was no video - only an audio version that few have heard, and it is not posted anywhere. A lady (Jewel Palovak) has the original tape, and has no plans to release it. For more info, google: yellowstone-bearman Tim Treadwell. The first link that appears will be very accurate to my best knowledge.

This may be a sick reenactment but the fact that real audio tape lasts 6 min is not a vvalid point. This is a 2 minutes excerpt, even the ranger's interview which has been quoted pretty much everywhere says the ranger could only handle a 2 minutes excerpt. Plus the tape was given to this close friend of his Jewel Palovak who said in a scene from the " Grizzly man " doc that she was gonna keep it for herself and when asked by the director to destroy the tape she said that she will do that..

Listen to a real audio of someone dying a violent death and you won't sleep tonight. They don't take in deep breaths and emit screaming sounds; it's like they are screaming and inhaling at the same time. One can listen to this and almost laugh. Hear the real sound of agony and terror just once and you'll remember it. I've forgotten this stage performance already.
BTW, the constant thunder sounds like a tropical hurricane, when the real weather sounds was rain hitting the tent.

Sure it's a fake. And, you don't need assurances for the tape's owner either.
The breaths and screams are far too measured and theatrical. Once you've heard screams from real agony or fear you'll never confuse them with performances again. Also, those who have listened to the tape know that there were no bear sounds... the bear was completely silent with the exception of what may have been a grunt or two, and even that isn't certain. The bear roars here are all Hollywood.

This is not the sound of skin being ripped in half or the sound of bones breaking. This is not even the blood curdling screams that people give off when they are being killed. I know this sound because I lived next door to a family in Richmond CA, that was murdered on 4th of July. The son thought that the sound of gunfire would be chamouflaged by the sound of firecrackers on that day. The kid killed his mother and her guests, was turned in by his father and is now on death row at San Quentin.

I feel its something wrong with the quality of the sound. It seems like Amies voice are indoore. In a way its too clear. The real sound had to be mutch more unclear because of the bad camera with no external microphone. I think this is fake with many layers of sound put together.

Timothy Treadwell, he was warned repeatedly by the park service.& Bear-experts. - To his involvement with the bears was unsafe for both himself and the bears.
I know, he was crazy. But there are such people like him we need to get more knowledge. That he is not no was killed earlier by the bears was just a coincidence. But I'm dead proud of him. And for what he did for the rest of us ''normal'' people.

Fake or not this idiot got what he asked for, he placed his camp right on an intersection of several bear trails! But before this he placed himself in situations where he was trying to interact with these predators and they just lost all fear of him and people! The people in Alaska hated this guy has did Alaska game and fish! When the troopers got there they had to shoot 3 bears because they kept moving toward them, or a learned behavoir brought about by Treadwell!

I have read detailed summaries of what happened in the audio from one of the people who listened to it (from the police?) and they said, Amy was screaming like a mad women, and that the bear was quiet, which they said made it more eery. this sounds fake to me, because 'Amy' is hardly screaming, but rather shouting the few lines released to the public, the bear is growling a lot. and it sounds like a fire is going at the same time which was never mentioned.

@bahashawa I was attacked by a black bear at Pink Mountain B.C in 2001.I was bitten twice in the left upper tie and clawed once on the lower belly.I was very lucky I was 25-30lbs overweight so the claw didn't go past the belly fat also I was able to get to my rifle He was.nt making noise untill was right up on me but he was growling fairly loud as he chuwed on me.

If this is fake, whoever made it did a pretty good job. I did a sound analysis on my computer (spectrogram) and compared this recording with a few of Treadwell's recordings, including one done in the grizzly maze. I was looking for artifacts of Tim's equipment (digital always leaves a footprint), background noises, and sound anomalies of Tim's voice. Although I cannot be 100% sure, I would bet money that this is in fact a real segment of the original 6 min tape. Anyhow, very creepy!

After watching the movie I thought it was pretty clear the guy flaked out bigtime at some point.The whole baby talk thing when he speaks at all the wildlife just gives me the creeps. Ive spent alot of time in Yellowstone Park and you are not supposed to get within 100 feet of any wildlife, didnt the park he did his research in have a similar rule? Imean WTF. The documentary isnt bloody at all. What irritated me tremendously in the film is the fact that Herzog really lingers on about the death of Treadwell and his friend, but at the end suddenly makes a very hypocritical turn about not letting us hear the tape,

The environmental noise sounds like a loop. There are several pauses that seem suspicious - not just a lull in the gusts, but actual pauses. I could be wrong but it doesn't sound authentic. Also the volume of Tim's voice is suspicious, low at first then louder. There's some conflict as to whether or not he was wearing a remote mic. Regardless the volume of his voice would be consistent to a degree (he's screaming the whole time). I have to agree though, the voice sounds eerily like Tim's.

But i've never dared to approach them to few meters like he did lol! He was not an idiot! He did indeed say e was particularly uncomfortable with that bear near him because it was a bear he never saw before. He didn't go up to random bears, feed them, and became their friends either! He dd the smart thing, kept his distance, didn't feet them, didn't make sudden movements, he let the bears come to him when they felt like it. He gained their trust through knowledge and at least he risked his life for Amie. I wish I was that brave and able to die doing what I love.

Honestly, this fake is a complete fail in many ways, the voices are off, the length of the clip and sequence of events are off, the fact this uploader sent me 3-4 different explanations of why he claimed his clip was real and the fake sites he sent me to that he claimed would prove his clip real.
