just beatutiful i have moved to new york 6 years ago and most of the time when we want to take a walk my kids and I go to the Flushing meadows park and we never though that all of this beautiful history took place in there.. Thank you
Awesome movies, my parents always talked about this world fair although they didn't know each other when they visited this fair they did recall each of the different attractions almost the same way, I just wish another worlds fair can be brought to New York with all the wonder the 39 worlds fair had. thanks for sharing these great videos with us.
The upside-down fountain looks like modern special effects! Thanks for preserving and sharing these memories. Watching awesome video with appropriate music background, is why I joined YouTube.
Thank you so much for posting this. While I was born after both NY fairs, I always have been fascinated by the 1939 fair. I did not think such good color films exist. By the way - there's still one 1939 WF structure still (mostly) intact. It's the administration building used by the NYC Parks Department in Flushing Meadow Park.
I think this is one of the best 1939 World Fair movies I have ever seen. Thanks, my father pasted away a few years ago at 93 and told me about the fair. My first fair was the 1964 NY fair and I was 20 then. I collect fair items and your film is a treasure to share with us, thanks.
I need to say thanks to your grandpa too, exactly as you did at ending of this film: maybe it was presented as a "home video", but your grandpa used a very rare sensibility for angles and color that even professionals couldn´t do without very hard work and a tender soul. Thanks for sharing with us and thanks for your grandpa: he reached eternity with his registers!
Thank you for the wonderful postings! At the time when your grandparents were enjoying the fair, my paternal grandparents were trying to escape persecution in Germany (Grandpa had jewish roots). It always moves me to see peaceful, every-day life of that era, without the shadows of danger and violence. Thank you again for this extraordinary footage! ... Cheers, Julia from Florida
My grandparents and dad were there, too. Dunno if it were 1939 (I expect it was) or 1940. Dad got to go to the Century of Progress in Chicago in 1933, though he'd have been only a kid of 5 or 6, depending on when in the summer of '33 they went. Thanks for getting me a bit better connected with my dad, who passed in late '06.
Happy 80th to your father. Your grandfather's movies are the best footage I've ever seen of the fair, plus the title cards added a lot. You did an excellent job of of scoring as your music choice was superb.
I'm so glad that I got to see your videos. Thanks for sharing! Linda

Yes, Thank you Grandpa.
I have been fascinated with this fair ever since I saw a PBS documentary on it in the 1980's.
Thanks to YouTube and Robert Martens.
Please think twice before throwing out any family photos or recordings. You never know what value they will have to future generations.

AMAZING! I am sure your grandfather never thought people would be watching these 70 years later and be so happy that this footage exists!

Beautiful footage. My father-in-law, 91, played in the World's Fair band in '39 (his first job). He'll like seeing these.
