  • Beautiful language in here--but it always is in your poems. Reminds me a bit of the idea in Rilke's 5th Duino Elegies (his Picasso acrobats' poem). But I like yours better.

  • @tinySpectacle A teacher of mine (Walter Tevis) used to say that won money is twice as sweet as earned money. With praise like yours, Lo--and so gorgeously delivered--I guess I always feel like there's no way it's earned and so, therefore, it must be something I've won. Maybe it's both. Whatever the case, I'll walk about a foot off the ground today thanks to those words. (To be compared to Rilke at all... though I must confess that I've never read his acrobat poem.)

    You're too kind, Lo.

  • God Damn you! the last 3rd of this poem really hit me! *you bastard* ---shared on facebook and soon to be put into my favorites! Bastard! :P

  • @DavidRandallCurtis My father actually was one, a bastard. And not in the metaphoric sense, though he was that too on some occasions. But his biological father never married his mother. So, alas, I can only claim to be the son of a bastard.

    My thanks, David.
