They had a hall of fame pitcher Nolan Ryan pitched 4 no hitters for them, less than 20k people showed up for the games at home and he was one of the best in the league. You would think they would at least show up to see a future Hall of Famer pitch. They never hit 3 million fans until 1 year after they won the World Series.

Angels didn't win alot, thus fans didn't come to games consistently; and wow I hope you realize how hard it is for any team to draw 3 million fans. The Dodgers were the first team to draw 3 million fans in 1978 they did again in 1980, and 1982. You see drawing that many fans during Nolan Ryan's tenure in Anaheim was rare and almost unheard of.
The Dodgers have drawn 3 million + fans 23 times since 78. In 78, 80, 82, 83, 84,85, 86, 90, 91'93,96,97,98,99,,01,02,03,04,05,06,07,,08 and 09. 1981 and 1994 were strike years they were going to break 3 million easily.fans. A 36585 per game average is needed to draw 3 million fans. The Angels never did that until 2003 after winning a WS. in 1979 ,82 and 1986 were all playoff years for you that still didn't ave 36,585. Where were all your fans at before 2002? Not at the ballpark thats for sure
Dodgers are more the exception than the rule. Not many teams can draw 3 million fans. Especially in the era where the Dodgers first started drawing 3 million plus. In fact the Yankees never drew 3 million fans till 1999! The Cardinals only did it twice before 1998. If you look and the other California teams you'll see that the Giants never did it till 2000, Padres have only done it once and the A's have never done it.
Why are the Dodgers the exception? Fans show up to support the team year after year regardless if they are winning or not. That's called team loyalty. I was at the final game of ALCS when we smashed the Twins 13-5, sitting behind the Twins Dug Out, I watched them cry as Glaus crushed out a 3 run homer to put a nail in the coffin, one of the best moments in my life. And then I went to game 6 of the serise and knew that we were taking home the gold

Dodgers are more the exception than the rule. Not many teams can draw 3 million fans. Especially in the era where the Dodgers first started drawing 3 million plus. In fact the Yankees never drew 3 million fans till 1999! The Cardinals only did it twice before 1998. If you look and the other California teams you'll see that the Giants never did it till 2000, Padres have only done it once and the A's have never done it.

Why are the Dodgers the exception? Fans show up to support the team year after year regardless if they are winning or not. That's called team loyalty. I rooted for the Angels growing up but the Dodgers were still my favorite team. . A majority of Angel fans I talk to don't know the names Lansford, Bostock, Grich, Ford, Tanana, Baylor or any players from the 70's. My dad and I would go to games when Ryan pitched because anything could happen and we wanted to be there to watch baseball greatness.

The Angels are my AL team. Scoisha is my opinion is the best manager in baseball the way he manages calmly and relaxed. The lineup you put out there everyday is just plain scary and the pitching is coming together with Kazmir turning it on.
